No, but you do for any visa. Most are a full page sticker.

    They don't have to be.

It's a beauracratic dick measuring fest.

PI have a visa sticker no bigger than a thumbprint. It's quite sufficient, and very sensible.

China one of the worst, learned how to waste your expensive passport real estate from supreme penpushers the USA and Aussie.

Chinese immigration deface the visa with a pen slash on entry, and then sully a fresh page with their low tech ink stamp.

Very annoying as they insist on wasteful single entry visas until you've entered several times prior.

Why can't the shinybums stamp the visa itself? It's cancelled with a pen stroke anyway. The info on it obviously processed, used and void.

I guess that's too much like innovative thought for a Communist border RoboCop.

  2. Which other police service in the world has a business jet kitted out like POLICE FORCE ONE here?

And does metropolitan Bangkok have a police airwing division to fight actual crime yet?

Better not give them ideas, most sensible organisations are already moving on to police drones.

How boring and no gravy to siphon!

Geez, good thing we had the coup to bring an end to all that evil Shinawatra corruption.

I would be curious to hear the explanation as to why they've paid 350 million baht above the global market price for this plane.

Cost of reinforced landing gear for the onboad street food market, peewees walk-in lolex safe, and emergency hair dye (for which they used the long range fuel tanks).

I've stayed overnight in quiet a few Ladies houses technically should they do a report? that would be funny all the bar girls lining up to do a TM 30

Yeh still don't bother with it if I'm away in a private dwelling. It's just that if the last local hotel or your latest fly in date flashes up on their system while you're there for other reasons they've gotcha.

Never done a tm30 upon returning to LoS.

Travel back to the old country once a year.

Return to the same address every time with an occasional overnight in BKK at a hotel.

Go do my 90 day and until now nowt said.

Last 90 day was in May after returning in Feb.

Do let us know when they do eventually flip to the back page of your passport, look up at you with that gotcha grin, and make the finger thumb gesture of show-me-the-money. ????

Even if you decide to volunteer their oversight, unlikely to win an 'honesty' star.

TiT and it's the law regardless of how you've managed it thus far, tick-tock. ????

Not having a go mate, I'm just saying it's inevitable. I got caught out and fined this year first time ever. I think its BS.

Have you got those brand names correct? From what country are they?

Yes, the names correct, these machines have an almost cult raving fan base!

As a curious coffee drinker, I'd like to try one one day.

OP, sorry, I can't help more other than try a Google, or Wongnai or lazada search... Also visit Robinson's department store.

  8. Orphanages are a good cause, but alas, the wicked world being what it is, unless your female, they'll likely assume the worst.

In the same vein, geriatric or male ward orderly in a home or hospital.

Maybe the airport will have a need for land side bi-lingual passenger assistants. That could be fun and interesting.

Soi dog foundation, or other animal rescue, if you're into that.

You always have to be diplomatic and assume others are watching and listening, ever heard of GCHQ/Bude and echelon?

It's his job to be frank. All ambassadors are always blunt and tell it as it is. Wikileaks revealed exactly what the US Ambassador thought of Thailand a few years back, it was no filter, and then some.

    Google it for a laugh.

Use a VPN if you're in LOS though!

  10. You sound like you might have means to take the time to look around, and make some expat contacts before deciding. Do that if possible.

No disrespect, but it's wise to plan that you'll need easy/fast access to at least one good hospital, just to be safe than sorry, age is a beach, I know.

Also, be aware things are not getting any rosier here of late, some guys seem to roll with whatever nonsensical barriers Immigration dream up, but either way, get across exactly what you'll be dealing with, every year, for the rest of your life here.

Plenty of that discussion on these forums!

Won't your lady be joining you once you arrive? She'll go a long way to help get yourself settled in with utilities, internet etc.

Also her negotiating for home services like garden work etc. May help keep your costs at 'Thai' levels.

    Enjoy it whatever you decide!

Not a candidate for Norway's very progressive prisons at all, then? What a nut job!

I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Yes it seems crazy to have to report TM30 because surely you are reporting your address when you do your 90 day reports - but really, its very easy to report TM30 online and once set up, it only takes a couple of minutes. Just go with the flow, why get stressed over this?

When you change, renew your passport, their systems can't cope, 90 day report rejected, you have to show up after that. Or post it, which is just as time consuming.

Yes totally absurd. Why don't they buy a computer to enable them can talk to the immigration at the airport.

I am fed up with the endless pointless petty rules and the outright corruption here in Thailand.

I'm going to check out the Philippines at least they speak English there.

Immigration is a breeze in Philippines, but you'll still be there every 2 months on average unless you drop ten grand USD. They also have a BS ID card you have to get annually. It's just a revenue raiser. Everything else seems to be worse in PI except the price of booze.

Banks, post office. accommodation, infrastructure, supermarkets, all far below Thailand.

HOWEVER, I am sick to death of the screws turning here and really tired of Asia in general. Cambodia is just gross.

Reluctantly considering Colombia, also hearing crime threat there is overrated if you're careful, and a similar lifestyle to be had to this old place before the little green men from mars landed and Fubar-ed it beyond all recognition.

  14. 'Nicotine, the addictive ingredient in cigarettes, can be quite a lethal compound. It's widely recognized to be deadly at doses between 30 and 60 milligrams, making it more dangerous than both arsenic and cyanide.'

Where are all the drug war warriors today?

Wait, the media and the laughable drug laws didn't brainwash them about old Nick, the most addictive substance known to man, so that's ok by them. Just don't mention meth!

One doesn't need to be a genius to know that this is just a replacement for Macau.

More a twin-town. Macau has out performed Vegas for a good many years, and they're still building ever greater palaces to worship Lady Luck. Great all round non-stop entertainment to be had if you're smart enough not to gamble.

The down side is that the Hun Sen dynasty will be around for as long as Singapore's Lee family now, with far less benign outcomes.
