  1. dont worry about human populations, eventually they will reach a point where they stop growing. check the birth rate in europe/usa vs third world.

    Unfortunately, you're wrong...VERY wrong.

In 1900 the world population existed of 1,65 Billion people...

    2008: 6,65 Billion....

    That's 6 Billion people in a mere 100 years... :o

Perhaps it is time to implement Operation Soylent Green. We'll start with the rich. Their sedentary lifestyle means they are tender. :D

  2. I am trying to see if there is a way to enable Thai fonts on my PC for my Fiancee. I am running Vista Home Premium and Windows Office 2007. Is there a way to enable something on Vista so she will be able to type in Thai for emails/messaging etc, or do I have to buy something for this?

  3. I'm trying to figure out the easiest way for my fiancee to continue making payments on her student loan. She will be living in the US but she will still need to make payments on her loan. She has an account through KTB. I don't know if it is possible to link my account with hers. Any help would be appreciated.

When you are married ( with a prenup' ) go for it.

:o I figured there would be one of these.

  4. Cohibas are over-rated. The Dusit Shop has some reasonable prices on Uppmann, Romeo Julieta, Hoyo Monterey and Bolivar, which are fine with me. They are generally in good shape, too.

Classic Cigar on the first floor of CentralWorld, near sculpture of yellow fibreglass head, is another favorite. Decent prices, knowledgeable, friendly staff.

The Erawan had a cigar bar; not sure if it is still there since smoking is now illegal. Their stock tended to be too moist, and sometimes moldy.

Good to know about Pacific - walked past there not long ago and noticed the sign saying they sold cigars, but didn't wander in. Will do so next time I'm past.

Bit off topic, but I wonder if there are any lounges or clubs where cigar smoking is allowed - a place to chill out with some drinks or coffee, listen to jazz or watch TV. I inquired at the Dusit, but the counter girl couldn't elaborate on the "clubs" that have formed since the public health ministry's crackdown.

Over-rated for you. If you have any, I'll gladly take them off your hands. :o

  5. for packet cigars 24 hr foodland sukumvit 5, or pharmacy next to bully's. for humidors, marriot has a large selection on soi 2, central world has cigars 1/2nd floor in the sukhumvit wing.

When I think of packaged cigars, I think of Swisher Sweets :o

  6. If you are going to do the K3 Visa route, you might as well start the paperwork now. The USCIS is so backed up, it's taking them forever to process applications. They are moving quicker than before (late summer/early fall) but they are still behind. I filed a K1 Visa for my fiancee in June of 2007. She finally has her interview at the US Embassy for her visa in early April. Once here in the US, we need to get married within 90 days. We then have to file for AOS (Adjustment of Status) which will allow her to become a permanent resident of the US. During this time we also apply for what is called Advance Parole (nice name). This will allow her to leave the US and re-enter without a Green Card. It takes between 2 to 3 months to obtain Advance Parole.

If you are a US citizen, you should take a look at a website (VisaJourney) that deals only with family based visas for US citizens and their foreign spouse, family, or fiance(e).

  7. I suppose the reason i asked about Easter was the aftermath of Xmas, For the last 2 years, Makro,Tesco-Lotus and Charonsei complex in Udon have {even more so this last xmas } very big displays of trees decos crackers lights ect, and that tells me christianity has a foothold here, {or lots of falangs? } useually, easter eggs are a follow-up to Xmas, I havent been shopping in Udon for 3 weeks so perhaps i missed them?

Next time i go to UK might bring back a case of Kinder eggs, im sure the kids here would love them,,

    Thanks All, Lickey,,

I think my previous post came out wrong. Didn't mean to sound sarcastic. I remember last year around this time I posted on TV prior to a trip to Thailand. Was asking if there were any restaurants in Bangkok that might serve a traditional Easter dinner as I thought it would be nice as I would be there for Easter. I got a response from a "nice" English gentleman basically ripping me a new one stating I was a "typical American" expecting Thailand to be like America. Funny though that months prior there were posts on where to find places that were doing traditional Christmas dinners etc.

  8. Not only Pattaya, this is Nation wide, if not world wide.

Like many things, the dependability of the US Mail really spoils us. It makes it more difficult for us to deal with the inefficiency and dishonesty we experience here.

I don't think that's right... I have heard that 1 in 10 Americans are in jail.

    Ted.

It's 1 in 32 :o But that doesn't take in to account marriage.

  9. Domestic flights are really a gamble. Sometimes they are cheap (depending on where you are going), other times it's robbery. My brother in law came down to Arizona to visit me from Wisconsin. The original flight he had looked at booking through a travel agent cost almost the same as my ticket to Bangkok ($1200). Leaving a day later, he was able to get a ticket for just under $600.

  10. There are a number of places but one I know directions to is in the CRC tower on Wireless Rd. The cigar shop is on the bottom level near one of the hotel entrances I believe. Prices may shock you.

The Dusit Thani has a nice selection of Cubans. Expect to pay top dollar though. The Cohibas were looking good, but not that good.

  11. Happy Easter everybody, but i havent seen any chocolate eggs anywhere, dont Thais celebrate Easter?

You do realize Easter is traditionally a Christian holiday right? It's not as commercialized/globalized as Christmas, so you probably are not going to find much for Easter.

  12. I've had no problems sending things if via USPS Global Express. A bit costly, but if you need something sent, it's still probably cheaper than UPS or DHL. Sending greeting cards was the worst. They never arrived. I had to start sending them by Priority at $11 a piece just so they would get to their destination. I suppose if you wanted to teach the thieves a lesson, you could always fill an envelope with dirty tissues. :o
