Hi everyone...
I am trying to get some ideas for what to get my Thai fiancee for Christmas. She is 24. She hasn't really dropped any hints so that makes things difficult. I don't know about jewelry as she is going to be getting a diamond engagement ring. Maybe a necklace? I'm afraid to go the clothing route, although since she is moving to the States this spring, I thought maybe a nice cashmere sweater? She obviously doesn't have a winter jacket, but it would come in useful when she comes here...then again, I'm not certain what her tastes would be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My fiancee needs to get her birth certificate translated. We applied for a fiancee visa and recently we were requested to submit her translated copy of her birth certificate. Is there any service available in BKK that can take care of this for her? She translated it herself, but I told her that is most likely not going to work. Taking time off of work to complete this is only something she can do as a last resort. Any constructive input would be greatly appreciated.

If it is one of the Haplopelma, they are generally harmless unless provoked, but even then, their bite is not deadly. They will take care of any insects you might be having a problem with.

Adding bacteria activator to a septic tank is a waste of money IMO. All the bacteria you need is already found in the septage. Just don't add things to the tank that will cause an imbalance as wilko pointed out. You are going to get odors from a tank no matter what, but you can eliminate a lot of it if your septic tank is equipped with an aerator. Anaerobic bacteria (those bacteria that thrive in oxygen poor environments) produce much of the odor...mainly by making hydrogen sulfide gas. Aeration causes the growth of aerobic bacteria which give off carbon dioxide.
Aerobic bacteria also break down materials faster than anaerobic bacteria.

Thank you all for the added recommendations. Lots to choose from.

I see there is a restuarant on the top of the Banyan Tree. Has anyone been there? Thoughts? I'm thinking about us staying there for a few nights before we head up north.

The only way to get rid of a mold/mildew problem is to take care of the moisture problem. Bleach is not even recommended as regular soap and water will clean up the surface. As long as there is a problem with moisture, you are not going to get rid of the mold.

Misty thank you so much for these ideas.

legag,
Thank you for the recommendation. I appreciate it.

If it's not alive or freshly killed or frozen, it's best to toss it out. Fish or shell fish should not give off a bad odor. The smell of ammonia is a sure sign it's no good.

I thought I would ask the ladies this...
I want to take my fiancee to a nice place for dinner while in BKK this coming spring. Something that is quiet, and romantic. I plan on proposing to her. Yes, she is my fiancee, but I really want to do this the proper way...the way she wanted it done the first time. So...I want to do this again for her. If anyone has any suggestions on a place, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for that. I will try asiarooms.com. When I did a search for hotels in Sakon Nakhon, this hotel did come up but when I tried to do a search for their website nothing came up.

Hi everyone...
I posted this in the Thailand Travel forum but would probably get more suggestions here. I will be flying in to BKK and then my and my fiancee will be heading up to Sakon Kakhon for a few days. I am looking for recommendations on nice hotels there. I haven't been able to find much doing internet searches.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated...

Me and my fiancee will be flying in to Sakon Nakhon for a few days after I arrive in BKK. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel there? I've not been finding much doing an online search.
Thanks for any input...

I love sweet potato fries...also mashed sweet potatoes. They are better the next day after you reheat them on the stove with some butter.

I tried to send an email to the head quarters in USA, no way, they send me back to the Thai representative.
Anyone has an address for the USA?
email: Michael Dell, CEO
Corporate Office: 512-728-4100
Fax: 512-283-2299
Is that really his address? I have been having trouble with dell for a few weeks now. They are charging me for a wireless router that never shipped. I am tired of talking to an overseas help desk where I can't understand anything they say.

They all have their quirks.
1. Must have been a formula 1 driver in another life. I carry a permanent look of terror on my face.
2. 3 day change of mood as she chews over a problem she doesn't want to burden me with. Typical male I want to solve the problem. Result? Stalemate. I have now learned just to let her work through it and tell me in her own good time. if at all.
3. She likes to look sexy and feel attractive but doesn't comprehend 'why falang look me like dat?' 'Why old falang pinch bottom'?
4. Can't read a map or anticipate yet doesn't want to admit it. I think most women have this problem.
5. She goes out to buy some chicken and comes back with biscuits, snacks, 'Nom Yin', etc.. Always thinking that I don't eat enough.
6. Doesn't think she is good enough. 'You Hi-So. I Lo-So'. It may be so but I don't see it in the same light.
7. Lends money to 'friends' who NEVER pay her back. I made the same mistake, so can't complain. She's improving. Learning to say 'Not have'.
Rarely asks me for money. Nor does her family. No need. I take care of her. She takes care of me. Good deal.
Number 2. I think that is pretty typical of all women, but I agree. If there is a problem I would like to take care of it right away. I don't like having to dig and dig to get an answer to what is wrong.

I heard there will be no visa interviews scheduled for February throught the US Embassy. Can anyone confirm this? I've heard it from two people but can find nothing on the embassy website.
