  1. It is called Gynecomastia. It can be completely taken care of with a plastic surgeon. Luckily you are in Thailand, where this surgery can be done inexpensively. It is not "fat", but rather more similar tissue to actual female breasts. Working out will not do it. The glandular tissue can only be surgically removed. Why wait? Consult a hospital with a good plastic surgery department. http://www.vejthani.com would be a good hospital to start with. It is where I go.

Exactly right. There is no real way to get rid of these without some surgical intervention. When you exercise, lift weights etc, you are only working the underlying muscle tissue, not the tissue that makes "man breasts"

  2. I've always used desktops...not as expensive as laptops was the main reason. I recently bought a new laptop because I am moving and I really did not want to have to ship my desktop...that and when I am away on meetings for work, I can take the laptop with me. I love the portability. Although you said you use your laptop mainly as a "desktop" I would still suggest getting a laptop. If you have wifi in your place you don't have to be nailed to your desk to use it.

  3. That has always been the problem with chemotherapy. Doctors are walking a very fine line. Giving enough chemo to kill the cancer cells without killing the patient. Cancer is such a difficult disease to treat because there are so many variables that cause it and what works for one patient will possibly do nothing for the next.

I sure wish some major breakthroughs would occur. It's been 30+ years since war was declared on cancer...at least here in the States. I feel and fear we haven't even scratched the surface yet.

  4. I see this all the time on domestic flights in the US. As soon as the plane has touched down and it is heading to the gate all you can hear are cell phones being turned on....people calling or checking their voice mail. I don't have a cell phone so I feel a bit left out :D

I think it is just a part of being "connected" People would be so lost without technology. I'm the same way though with my laptop. If I am in the airport, or hotel or whatever, I need to be connected to check e-mails...even if I am not expecting anything. :o

  5. Hepatitis A (if you haven't already had it)

    Hepatitis B

    Rabies (human diploid)

Start now as some of these need a series of injections.

These are good vaccines to have even if not coming to Thailand. Hep A can be contacted just about everywhere, and having the rabies vaccine prevents you from needing very painful and dangerous series of injections if you get bitten by a strange dog.

Have your basics done: MMR, DTP, Hep A and Hep B. You might want to think about Typhoid maybe. Rabies is pretty expensive and probably not needed. As a side note...just because you get the Rabies vaccination, does not mean you still do not need to go to the hospital to get additional vaccinations if you get bitten by a rabid animal. It's a precaution and buys you time (and less shots), but it will not substitute for the rabies vaccination you would get at a hospital if bitten.

  6. I'd be interested in knowing what kind of Coliform bacteria they found. Not all coliform bacteria come from human/animal waster (fecal coliform), and not all are dangerous (such as E. coli). Sometimes it's not an easy determination if you are doing one of those simple swab type tests etc. If you do a total coliform test, you may get some innaccuracies compared to just testing for E. coli. Even then, I've had a difficult time determining if a bacteria colony is E. coli after incubation.

  7. I am trying to find the name for the korean tabletop bbq. I can't seem to find anything online as to its real name, let alone where to buy one. I would like to find one here in the States as my fiancee wants one when she comes over shortly.

Does anyone know where I might find out in the States, or maybe someone could recommend a website where I could order one and have shipped here.

  8. For 10 inch two-crust pie

    2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour

    1 teaspoon salt

1 cup vegetable shortening (not sure if they have Crisco there)

    9 tablespoons ice water.

Measure flour and salt in to bowl. Cut in shortening thoroughly. Sprinkle in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until all flour is moistened and dough almost cleans side of bowl (1 to 2 teaspoons water can be added if needed).

Gather dough in to ball; shape in to flattened round on lightly floured board. For two crust pie, divide dough in half and shape in to 2 flattened rounds. With floured rolling pin, roll dough 2 inches larger than inverted pie pan. Fold pastry in to quarters; unfold and ease in to pan.

For one crust pie: Trim overhanging edge or pastry i inch from rim of pan. Fold and roll pastry under, even with pan; flute. Fill and bake as directed by recipe.

For baked pie shell: Prick bottom and sides thoroughly with fork. Bake at 475F for 8 to 10 minutes.

For two crust pie: Turn desired filling in to pastry line pie pan. Trim overhanging edge of pastry 1/2 inch from rim of pan. Roll second round of dough. Fold in to quarters; cut slits so steam can escape. Plave over filling and unfold. Trim over hanging edge of pastry 1 inch from rim of pan. Fold and roll top edge under lower edge pressing rim to seal; flute. Cover edge with 2 or 3 inch strip of aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning; remove foil last 15 minutes of baking. Bake as directed in recipe.

The recipe is pretty similar to others mentioned I guess, and as mentioned, ice cold water is really the key.

  9. I think things are just so much different than what they were when I was a kid. Besides the possibility of total nuclear annihilation there just didn't seem to be the problems we see today.

  10. I would say it is a defect with the camera or an exposure problem. Rest of the pic looks blurred so I'd say the camera moved while the pic was being taken. Does seem strange that some of the pic is in focus though. I took a similar picture on a bus over there. Part of the pic was blurred with strange lights and other parts were in focus.

  11. Hope this hasn't been posted before...my apologies if it has. :o

How many posters does it take to change a lightbulb?

One to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.

Fourteen to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.

Seven to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

Seven more to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs.

    Three to correct spelling/grammar errors.

Six to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb".

Another six to condemn those six as stupid.

Fifteen to claim experience in the lighting industry and give the correct spelling.

Nineteen to post that this group is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb (or light bulb) forum.

Eleven to defend the posting to the group saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this group.

Thirty six to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty.

Seven to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs.

Four to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL.

Three to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group.

Thirteen to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too".

Five to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.

Four to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

Thirteen to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs."

Three to tell a funny story about their cat and a light bulb.

    AND

One group lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now with something unrelated and start it all over again.
