  1. For anyone having to do a late 90 day report in the future, as PhuketRichard said a while back, you get an offer of 1,000thb no receipt.

    It went like this :

So circa 10.30am, I thought I'd try the drive thru anyways as no cars there and it was the easier to drive round the Immigration building than do a U turn in the main road.

They gave me the 90 day slip anyways but asked me to go to room 101 cos I was late.

Pretty quite in Room 101, Volunteer guy asked what I wanted, I replied 90 day report late,

"Oh, not good can be 5,000, or 2,000thb but if you want I can sort it for just 1,000thb". I gave him Passport, the 90 day report from drive thru, 1 x 1,000thb note. TM47 form was not required.

There was no mention of receipts. 5 mins later, my name is called, Passport returned. All done.

So was it a bribe, I'm not sure. Maybe just an error between then Finance and  Administration Dept !

Quite right. I should not have used that word and I apologise to you.

My point was that folks should not be paying bribes if their paperwork is all in order.

Given that this is a Thai immigration topic we really should not go off topic. First up. I have never paid a 'bribe' to Thai immigration. 2nd up, yes my wife and I have had to deal with planning and permits on a number of occasions over the years.  We used the services of the local planning officers to draw up our plans which were promptly approve. His services were cheaper than a private office. Was that a 'bribe'.

    Dear LivingKata,

Thanks for the reply. I guess it's halfway between a bribe and what might be considered unethical in our home countries perhaps !

    Cheers

Typical advise from a Thai lawyer working the corrupt gravy train.

I suppose you were 'having problems with' your permit extension due to an error in your paperwork or requirements,  so Ok then be a chump and pay a 'bribe'. You would only be encouraging the corrupt system.

I wasn't being a CHUMP as you call it at all, I was on a retirement, wanted a dependant as there was a possibility I was going to start work, OP in Phuket town got livid, thumping away with his two typing fingers on his antiquated typewriter, calling me "YOU DIFFICULT MAN". He had the hump cos he had to fill in a few more forms ! I had KorRor11 from Phuket Courts, they just didn't wanna accept them.

You're being a "TrumpSizeChump" if you think you can live Thailand 100% without paying a bribe.

You ever tried to build something here for example ?

Could be a trip to the Monkey house, good luck in trying that!

Has anyone ever been sent MonkeyHouse for a small Tip to a Thai Police man or IO ? Don't they have TIP Jars labelled as such on their desks anymore ?

(My Thai lawyer a few years back met me at the Phuket Court house to sort out child documents for my Parent/Guardian visa), when I explained I was having problems with my Permit extension, he instructed my in techniques on how to tip an IO, including cash in envelopes in newspapers to be left on IO's desks...) !

  5. Morning All

Just realised I'm 2 week late for my 90 Day Report, First time ever, Dunno how I missed the 2 Google Calendar Notifications but I did ...

So I'll drive to Phuket Immigration today.

Can I still use the drive through as I'm 2 weeks late for the report ?

Do you still need a form or is it Automatic. (My Permit to stay extension is from Phuket)

    Cheers,

    S.C.

Not sure, BUT if you have a work permit the residency certificate is not needed.

If you dont have a previous license from ur home you need take a course ( I think)  + take a written and practical test in addition to 1 hour videao, eye, color test & brake distance test . i'd say at least 2 days if you dont need the course. No idea if you need do the course but maybe 4+ days

In Phuket, Honda Big wing does a great motorcycle course on their own grounds

    Thanks PhuketRichard....

The best for you would be to get some written confirmation about the recent requirements by your immigration office.

    Trat immigration requires:

    1. original Passbook (submission date)

    2. copy of all Passbook pages (submission date)

    3. Letter from the bank/Certificate of deposit (submission date)

    4. Statement by the bank showing the last 3 month (submission date)

Trat immigration also wants the TM47 together with TM7.

All immigration offices require different documents and are totally unpredictable.

    Regards

Thanks, just trying to avoid extra days trips to the Immigration Office etc ...

ALthough I did read somewhere the Bank docs, not specifically Phuket, Bank docs could be 7 days old,. I do intend get docs on the Monday, going on the Tuesday, or possible Monday afternoon !

  8. Ps This from a 2 year old Phuket thread :

Copy updated Thai bank book name page and last 2/3 months transactions showing at least THB 800.000.
Signed and stamped bank letter AND Signed and stamped bank statement showing the money for the required period.
( 2 months first time, 3 months for consecutive extensions and both letters and updated bankbook maximum 7 days old )

  9. I'm Heading to Phuket Immigration this week, any new/special/curveball type tips from anyone enjoying the experience in the past few months ?

One Point re the 800K thb, So I need :

    1. Letter from Bank
    2. Bank Statement for 2 months (I'll make it 3 to be sure)
    3. And I need to copy past 2-3 Months Bank Book Pages also ?

No big deal I'll prepare all of the above anyways I guess ...

    Cheers,

    Cliffy.

Ps Yup I've check Phuket Immigration Volunteers website.

  10. Hi,

I recently was granted full Custody of my children, I had not been Married to the mother.

A few years back, I obtained Kor Ror 11 for each child Legitimising me as the father.

So now I have a Court Document stating I am the Sole Custodian. Just wondered what's next, ie is there a Certificate or Document that states I am the Sole Custodian or do I just use the Court Letter when Required, ie Possibly when going on holidays outside Thailand with the kids...

Maybe a Por Kor 14 Child Custody Form ?

    Thanks for all replies...

    Cheers

    Cliffy

  11. Thanks Gents for your thoughts...

I'm sure the lump sum which in my case would be about another ten years, would be gone in half of that time, and thhen I'd have to start paying again...monthly this time !

Ps No WP or job here, but a bit of property...

  12. Hi All

I have 2 half Thai kids with my ex Girlfirend ie NEVER married.

We have legitimised our children in the local Thai court a few years ago.

The Ex has applied for Sole Custody, I'm prepared to agree to Dual Custody, or failing that I will Counter Sue for Sole Custody and my lawyers believe I have a stronger case than hers.

We have a Court Mediation session in a month, so I've just been doing some research on TV.

BTW Yes I do have (expensive) lawyers working on my case and attending the Court sessions.

I read in one of the threads from a few years back :

"The court prefers a lump sum payment for child support rather than monthly payments."

Is this really the case, how do the Courts expect a Father to come up with (upto 20 years) on payments in one go ?

In the same thread it was also mention if things were not settled in Mediation the case could go on for years ?

Can Anyone give me there advice or actually experiences on the above 2 points ?

And any details of their time at the Mediation session would be nice to know too...

    Cheers

    Best

    Cliffy....

Perhaps this might help, my Thai son recently updated his will leaving his decent size 2 plots of land and the 1 house and contents on that land jointly /equally to his 3 kids, 15, 8, 4 yo. Before the will was finished and signed, my son went with his lawyer (at lawyers suggestion - lawyer is fully qualified and well experienced, old family friend) to see the head of the local muang Chiang Mai land office to check if there are any complications if ownership to the 3 kids was to be done tomorrow.

Answer no problem totally legal, but there needs to be a guardian / advisor nominated in the will and that person's name would be put on the land chanut document. But of course the guardian / advisor cannot change the will and cannot actually sell the land etc. In fact the land and house cannot be sold until all 3 kids reach the age of majority for Thailand. Only exception would be that selling has been approved by a specific court order which is very difficult to obtain.

    Thanks Scorecard,

I find I take legal advice, but also list to other BM's real life experiences too....

Thanks for post and thanks for the info

Perhaps the first point, do the 2 children have Thai citizenship and Thai ID cards?

    Thai Citizehship :

Yes, Born in Thailand to Thai mother with Thai Birth Certificates.

No Id cards but yes I should go sort that !

  15. Hi

So first of all pls Yes I am seeing my (Farang Company) Lawyers. They are advising. I will be going for a Mediation Date at Court in the near future.

Here's the plan, I have 2 Half Thai/Half European childrens early teens. Separated (Never married) to the Mother. I wish to buy in an existing housing development and put the Land&House in the Children's name for them to live 50% of the time with their Mother.

I have read  a few threads on the matter. Generally seems OK but MIGHT require a court order for the Land Office to transfer the Land into the children's name.

Other Members have mentioned problems before in HuaHin for example. Another member a couple of years ago has mentioned the Mother managed to sell the land anyways !

Off to see my solicitors tomorrow anyways, just curious if anyone been down the same route as me in Phuket ? Although I'm keen to hear about other provinces too.

    Cheers
