Wow - this just goes to show that you cannot please all of the people all of the time. I must have been at a different party to some members. Perhaps I took too much advantage of the free wine flowing. Many people simply went upstairs afterwards to listen to the band and have a few more drinks at their own expense. What a pleasure after having such a wonderful start to the evening.

Many thanks to TV and My Phuket magazine for the great party. Also to Buckwheat for his delicious spare ribs. We had a tremendous time - it was nice to see some old faces - to meet some new faces and to chat with some of the terminators!

PS looked out for you Livinginkata, never saw you - hello anyway!

Please feel welcome to Pm me if you are keen on this option as the following do not make reservations over the net etc. Some of the bungalows next to our shop can receive our wifi services. They have daily serviced, A/C Rooms en suite, refrigerator, satellite TV, nice views overlooking Kata Bay. Prices presently around 600 baht per day.

30 seconds walk down to The Bounty Bar (English style pub with good thai and western food), 25 meters from the beach to the Ska Bar under the big tree and next to Pens Seafood Thai restaurant etc. Enough volunteers for a game of pool if you enjoy that sort of thing.

Plenty of surfers and divers to hang around with if you get bored.

Yup Kata Yai Beach directly in front of The Boathouse. There are other surf shops close by tucked into the corner of Kata Beach. Chris, Da and the boys are very knowledgeable.

Try hook up with the guys at Da's Surf located in front of The Boathouse directly on the southern end of Kata beach. Very nice bunch of guys who are absolutely surf mad. If you do go there ask for Chris, Da or Jaimie.

Off Kata Beach, yesterday the surfers had fun, today the divers have fun.

And if you dont have any luck at PAWS or Soi Dog I know of a cute soi dog in desperate need of a good home. He is a medium to large breed, less than 1 year old, pitch black with white socks and excellent temperament. I took his seriously ill brother home but honestly cannot take him as well as I already have 3 dogs and 6 cats at the house.

Agree - the Anchor bar and Coffeepot both offer good pub grub.

So does The Bounty Bar on the southern end of Kata (en route to Kata Noi beach) opposite The Boathouse. For sundowners also try The Ska Bar or Kata Pen Seafood located directly on the southern end of Kata Beach. No pub grub there but excellent value for money restaurant and bar. Was there last night - atmosphere was great as usual. Another great spot for sundowners is The After Beach bar located en route to the Viewpoint. Would have to rent a bike or take a tuk tuk to get there though.

For good Italian food try Alla Capaninnas located diagonally across the road from the entrance to The Kata Beach Resort. They should re open soon as they were closed for a couple of weeks holiday. If they are still closed when you come try Al Capriccios further up the road opposite the lower end of Club Med.

Had a similar experience at the supermarket at Big C a couple of years ago. Bought a chicken within the sell by date only to find when I got home that they simply re wrapped new plastic with a new sell by date over the old one. It really stank!!!

I was so p***ed off - not an issue of returning for a refund but an issue of being stumped for what to cook that evening especially after a long days work!

Makes one wonder if there is any real quality control in the supermarkets?

Why not try Koh Lanta? October is nearing the end of their low season or entering the high season so the weather should be relatively good then. Also your partner can do some scuba diving from there. Some of Thailands nicest dive sites are located close by. eg. Hin Daeng/Hin Muang (Red and Purple rocks)

Apologies, I honestly would not have a leather jacket or coat made by the tailors here. Simply because I prefer the Turkish or Spanish leather and the leather I have seen here is of very poor quality. The leather products I have seen here are IMO also not very well made.

For scuba diving there are many reputable Dive Centers on Phuket - so for your convenience it would depend on where exactly you will be staying on Phuket? However as a guideline we charge from 10 500 baht for the Advanced course which is normally conducted over 2 days. This includes 2 local boat dives off Kata Beach and one 3 dive daytrip to the Sharkpoint area. Most DC's on Phuket offer the 2 daytrip option (we do as well) and costs are around 11 900 baht all inclusive.

Let me know what area you will be staying so that I can recommend a good operator for you.
