  1. We will definitely be there on the 27th. A pity to hear that your contract has ended. Although we have not been there much lately due to work in the high season - we loved going there in the low season when things were quieter for us.

Also will probably see you guys tonight at The Friendship Bungalows. My hubby is feeling in the mood for spare ribs and good music.

  2. Have had the pleasure of listening to Fiddlehead on his own. Very talented muso. Have also seen him together with some of the Groove Doctor band members playing at the Friendship Resort on Friday nights. This is a great evening out.

  3. Sorry I never went to both evenings. Went on saturday and it was great. Also it was good to watch a fellow TV Member playing. :o

    Who was that? :D

Had to check if it was ok for me to say who. TV member Fiddlehead plays with The Groove Doctors. Great band!!! It is well worth listening to them at Joe Kools in Karon on Thursday nights.

  4. As a Hilton member we are taking our annual free night there tomorrow. Nevertheless I will have make sure that our fridge is full in case. :o

Your room number please Chantal :D

You & husband enjoy the evening!

    Gerd

Thanks Gerd - we are looking forward to it. :D

  5. A couple of the bars in our area were closed last night for Mocha Budda day. Those who wanted to drink had to resort to walking and drinking on the streets. The local supermarkets were doing a roaring trade.

  6. Have to admit Mfiskong - glad I did not see it as well. Am too much of a woos! Apparently the whole ordeal took about 20 minutes. From injecting the Moray, twisting and tugging to loosen it in the hole, pulling it out of the hole up to swallowing it.

  7. It may be helpful if the op gave a more detailed description of the area he is talking about.

Po Bay. Nakha Yai Is. Nakha Noi Is, Reat Is. And a few others in that area.

    Taz... :o

Sorry Taz - still dont know where these sites are in the south. As far as I know Po Bay is located on the northern end of Phuket? Please correct me if I am wrong.

  8. Racha Yai and Racha Noi are good snorkel sites for daytrippers although Coral Island is often referred to a Coraless island by divers. Unfortunately this is due to the years of abuse by tourists walking on the corals to get to the island.

Another nice spot for snorkelling if you don't want to go on a daytrip - the east side of Koh Pu off Kata Beach. You need to go there via Longtail boat.

  9. Over ten years experience of professional dive work in Thailand and allow me to inform you all that in that time, not once was there any kind of written agreement. Never. It's simply the nature of the business, it's all done verbally with who you know or who knows you.

Depends on where you work AjarnRuss. I know many DC's who have contracts with their staff. Also some operations insist that their staff sign for their monthly wages as a form of receipt. Also with an agreement any written warnings can be documented as a back up for the employer. Especially for Thai citizens as 3 warnings are required prior to a formal dismissal. So for the OP - if you were dismissed - did you sign 3 written warnings before?

However like Misterman I do know of a well known DC who did not pay their staff and used the Tsunami as an excuse. The fact was the staff were not paid from a month before the Tsunami. There were also quite a few others who chose not to honour their payments to their staff. What a disgrace!

To the OP I do not understand why you are so hesitant in reporting this company? As a Thai National you would have stronger support in exposing this Foreigner for abusing your rights. For you to have access to his tax details it seems to me that you must have worked in the office which means that you were not paid for quite some time in order for so much money owing to you to be accumulated?

Also this company could surely not have been in operation for very long in order to get away with the tax requirements which are very strongly enforced on the Dive Industry as a whole. If this is the case - then you would have even more support from the Labour Department, Police and Tax department.
