Thanks I hope it works. I deleted the banking app off my old iPhone so I can’t even transfer the money to any of my friends to get it that way.

I am returning to Thailand for the first time since February 2020 when I left for my home country due to the pandemic. I just realized that my Bangkok Bank debit card is expired and I don’t have ATM access to my account and I am arriving from Singapore today.
With my passport, expired debit card and my Bank Book will I be able to go to any branch to get a new card or get access to my funds or will I need to go to my original branch where I opened the account?
To make matters worse my retirement visa also expired during the pandemic.

Get up in morning get dressed for work
Maybe have a cup of instant coffee before leaving the house
Stop before getting to work and buy a skewer or two of chicken or pork
Lunch get some rice and pork with chillies and vegetables
Dinner have rice with pork or chicken or fish and vegetables/mushrooms

Shouldn’t be a problem. I have done that route a few times and Koh Lipe immigration is quite straightforward

The macro strategist I follow are all calling for a peak in the USD in the next few months. There is an implicit assumption I. This prediction that inflation has peaked and the Federal Reserve will soon pause rate hikes.

A westerner should know better and he should be given a very large fine and expelled from Thailand. Hopefully he is named and shamed in the Dutch press.

If you are still living looking for someone please direct message me with requirements. I know a nice lady who is honest, speaks good English and very reliable.

I too remember my first flight on Aeroflot in 1972 from Moscow to Leningrad return (now St Pete's again). Instead of carpets on the floor they had those rubber mats you would find in return kitchens. Passenger comfort was not a priority as the climb out of Moscow was close to 45 degrees followed by a sharp turn towards Leningrad. Much better service and comfort in 2020 when I flew Aeroflot from Malaga to BKK via Moscow, that flight was the same as you would expect from any modern airline

Sounds to me like Thai workers are demanding a living wage and it threatens to cut into profits

so if I understand correctly: If a tourist comes to Thailand on holidays and tests positive for covid, they will be forced to stay in hospital even if they feel fine and have no symptoms, in addition they will be out of pocket tens of thousands of dollars for the hospital stay because the mandatory insurance won't cover their claim? Is this correct?

Easy clean up the air so it is always well below the AQI 2.5 threshold and clean up the ocean so when I am knee deep in the water I can see my feet. Just for a start

Probably Melasma; is common in Thailand (especially in darker pigmented skin) and not really treatable. Lots of hospitals, companies and individuals will try to sell her expensive creams and treatments but most are ineffective and those that do work do so only marginally and will not eliminate the issue.

Thanks for the info. Will put Khao San on my no go list

I was planning on coming early November 2021 and staying until late April 2022. However I am starting to consider alternate destinations now. As a fully vaccinated traveller there are just too many hassles to visit Thailand; between the testing and insurance and the hassles of just getting a six month tourist visa. Feel bad for the people that depend on tourism, they are not being well served by their government.

if only we could get people and the government to treat traffic deaths with the same level of concern

Once I am fully vaccinated next month I plan to travel. I will come to Thailand come November provided it is relatively hassle free to do so. Happy to comply with airport rapid testing and an app for contact tracing, beyond that would be too much and I would just go somewhere else with a warm climate.

I have used the Branch opposite Sukhumvit Soi 13, BTS Stop Nana, it's address is 182 Sukhumvit Rd, Khlong Toei, Bangkok. They are used to dealing with expats and I have never had a problem there. They will send you upstairs where the staff handle anything the tellers cannot. I have used them for 7 years now without any issues.

Leading Vaccines will likely start being approved in the West starting in December. Western countries will start vaccinating their populations in January starting with the elderly (over 65 years?) and health care workers. Thailand should be preparing to resume normal travel and visa procedures for those Westerners who have been vaccinated.

another crackpot idea. hope they don't buy too many wrist bands because they won't be seeing too many tourists until this silliness subsides

I bought about $33,000 in Apple stock back in 2001. I sold it all a few months later for $40,000.

It is really sad what is happening for those retirees whose lives have been so badly disrupted. I wish Thailand would be a little more compassionate towards retirees given their large numbers in Thailand and their often extensive family and financial ties. I let my non Immigrant O-A visa lapse a while back and now split my time 6 months home country and 6 months Thailand on a multiple entry Tourist visa. With Covid this approach has been a god send for me. Still keep a place in Thailand but my expenses to do so are minimal. GF would prefer I stay Thailand year round but I just won't take the risk. The last straw for me was the health insurance requirement; who wants to be 75 or 80 and denied insurance and forced to leave Thailand.
This winter I may be forced to winter in Mexico or god forbid Florida if I can't get to Thailand due to visa or flight availability or insurance or whatever roadblock the Thai government decides to throw up.
I will be back to Thailand this winter, if I can get my tourist visa and a reasonably priced flight. Any extra unreasonable restrictions and my money and time will be spent elsewhere.

I think Thailand has done a pretty good job on the economic front all things considered. The fiscal and current account deficit Thailand is experiencing due to Covid 19 should disappear with the advent of an effective vaccine and the subsequent restart of tourism. Of course that will also signal renewed strength of the baht which will impact us expats. Good time to buy a property or stocks on the SET while the currency and economy is weak and opportunities abound as things will likely start to rebound by spring 2021.

Thanks again.
I wasn’t planning on being back to Bangkok for 2 weeks .
Don’t like using my home country debit card, when I already have money at Bangkok Bank.
Going to try the Bangkok Bank Branch on Beach Road in Pattaya on Monday.
