Retirement Extension Phuket

Thank you all for your replies and comments!! Cheers, Ron -
Good morning! Has anyone been to Phuket Immigration recently to do a retirement extension based on monthly income? I only ask because they change rules more often than I change underwear and I have to go in the next few days. Any new submittals or requirements demanded this year? Thanks for your feedback! Cheers, Ron

Democracy is a system of government in which state power is vested in the people or the general population of a state. Thailand, obviously not..... -
Thanks for the recommendations! I ended up using a flame torch tip cleaner to unclog and clean the stove burner jets. It now works perfectly! Might be a good tool to have in your toolbox if you have any gas appliances.

I try not to do it too often but periodically I need to withdraw some cash from an ATM from my US account. I never get an exchange rate anywhere near the current rate published online. Even when the ATM offers a guaranteed rate as an option, the rates shown are lower than current and when the withdrawal shows up on my account it's a lower rate. I'm sure if my US bank (BOA) had ATM's here in Phuket it might help. Unfortunately, they do not! Can anyone recommend which Thai bank ATM offers the best exchange rate? Thanks.

Can anyone recommend a Gas Stove Top Repair/Service provider? I'm in Phuket Town and have an Electrolux Gas Stove Top. Normally I would try to use the local Electrolux service reps but have looked them up online and the reviews of their operation are consistantly poor. So I'm looking for an alternative. Thanks for any input you can provide!

Are we surprised? More houses, hotels, apartments, shopping centers, etc, etc. And no infrastucture improvement to support them. It's a joke. Who are the buffoons who run this show???

Good morning. Can anyone recommend a professional, reliable plumber to do some work at my home which is in the proximity of Old Town Phuket? Not major issues, leaking faucets, drain replacement, etc. I've gotten too old for crawling around under the counter tops. Don't have the patience to <deleted> with it anymore! Any good recommendations would be appreciated! Cheers - Ron

Yeah, right. It takes two six packs to do the weeding!!
-
Thanks, but that was done during the original installation and now the plants and weeds are growing thru it. So I'm looking for some sort of solution short of replacing the entire garden! Cheers, Ron

Good morning. Does anyone have any recommendation on what I can spray onto my rock garden to inhibit plant and weed growth? I'm getting tired of weeding it every couple of months!! Thanks for any suggestions. Cheers, Ron

Good morning. Am looking for a "Mom and Pop" Sheet Metal Shop in Phuket. I need a piece of flashing fabricated to fit where my walkway roof butts up to the facia board on my carport. Preferably somewhere in Old Town Phuket close to my house. Thanks for any recommendations! Cheers, Ron

Well said. These fools deserve what they get. Me, after 20 years, I'm looking for the next location. -
Bahrain, seriously, who comes up with this s__t? Now, I admit, it's been a few years since I was there but even then it was less than something I would wish on anyone. The UAE, worked in Dubai for three years, Yes, it had it's ammenities, but the fact that it's a Muslim kingdom is hard to get past. You either do as the sheik says or your gone and God help the working people from Pakistan and India living in cardboard boxes and working non-stop for six months to one year. Singapore, worked and lived there for many years between 1973 and 2006. Great place to work but to consider living there in retirement is a bit of a stretch. Yes, it has good food, bars and shopping but at the end of the day it's an expensive urban jungle! Not three places at the top of my list!

MJCM - I have exactly what you describe. But my pressure in the house is ok. Just my hose outlets which are causing beer consumption problems. I suspect that it's a community issue but can find no other complainers! Cheers.

Good morning, I live in the T. Talatnuea Muang district of old town Phuket. Close to Sakdidej Road. Am experiencing water pressure issues from the outlets for my garden hose. Due to the low pressure, when I am watering my garden, what is usually a three beer activity has now become a five or six beer issue!?! Is anyone else in the same neighborhood experiencing a similar problem? Thanks for your feedback!

Beechbum - Thank you very much! That's perfect, not too far from my house.
