  1. LOL...I am not usually this enthusiastic about a product to come off sounding like a paid advertisement, but I was genuinely impressed when I got the razor because I really had my doubts and misgivings when I ordered it. It's rare to receive something via mail order and have it actually exceed your expectations.
  2. Lazada is VERY good about settling counterfeit claims. If you only requested a refund from the merchant and the nerchant says no, escalate it to Lazada as a complaint and you will have an almost immediate approval. Lazada is not so good about preventing counterfeiters from selling on the site, but they sure handle a buyer's complaint without questions asked. Also, a bit of advice for future purchases where you're nervous it might be counterfeit. Just "Chat" the merchant and ask flat out "Is this genuine or "compatible" (friendly was to say counterfeit LOL). If they don't reply, you can assume it is fake.
  3. LOL! That suspiciously looks like the same product listing for the fake one I got from Lazada. Might just be a stock picture, but after being burned, I would never buy another Gillette product online...ever! The fake Gillette blade scam is one of the biggest current online scams. Just Google and you will see dozens of scam reports from all around the world!
  4. I would have agreed with you wholeheartedly...until I got this Japanese "Feather" razor. The way it feels in your hand as you shave is like comparing how a BMW feels driving down a twisty road compared to a Honda. Not that there's anything wrong with a Honda, but once you know what it feels like to drive a BMW, there's no turning back LOL! I know Gillette has a very advanced R&D department and make state-of-the-art cartridge razors, but this Japanese Feather razor combined with their ultra-sharp blades are so much nicer than anything Gillette makes. The blades they make have been rated by numerous mens grooming review sites as the sharpest in the world, and after using it, I think they are probably correct! It certainly was noticeably better than my GIllette Mach 3. It actually astounded me! The way the razor feels in my hand is so incredibly well balanced and precise, it's actually fun to shave! In short, this is NOT your father's safety razor of yore. it's something really unique and I love it! As you probably know, the Japanese have a well deserved reputation for making the finest blades in the world (i.e.: Samurai swords) and so it's no surprise that these shaving blades seem to follow that tradition.
  5. Just so you know, I was very nervous to get this safety razor, worrying about cuts and nicks, but the truth is, although I got a few nicks on the first shaves since I stupidly forgot to set the adjustable setting properly, the rest of the shaves have been great. I really love how this razor feels in my hand. I sort of feel like a surgeon using it LOL! Seriously, it has a different, more precise feeling in your hand than the Gillette cartridge razor. I know I'm probably sounding like a "shill" with all my praises, but this Japanese razor is outstanding, and for only 1,000 THB, I'd suggest you buy one and try it out! SInce those Fusion blades are even more expensive than the Mach-3 I used, you'd recoup your costs so fast by not having to shell out for those Fusion blades anymore!
  6. Last words from me but you really need to learn more about the metabolic sciences before you make such unfounded remarks. I have been eating one single meal per day for decades. I am an "extreme" athlete even going into my 50's now, running 5k per day, swimming 1600 meters per day, and mountain biking on the weekends. I have blood panels 4 times a year and they are ALWAYS spot on. I maintain a healthy body fat percentage that does not vary at all...and all on one meal a day. I am not the only person that lives like this. I do not micro-manage my nutrition or my exercise the way you discuss. I don't use these silly terms that flood out over YouTube like intermittent fasting, the 16/8 method, 2 day on 5 day off, or any of the other terms invented by health gurus who are trying to sell books. Like I said before, I let my own body tell me what is good for it and what is not. It knows far better than some so-called expert, or me for that matter! I immerse myself in the metabolic sciences because I love learning about the research, but I let my body tell me what is right and what is not. I love how I feel eating once a day, and I can't say that at all about how I felt before I started doing that. I fast (water only) for 5 days, four times a year for "autophagy", and all of that is just how I choose to live my life. As for the Vitamin-D you keep mentioning, I am fine. Thanks for asking. I was fine from the day I started to supplement, and continue to do so. 10,000iU per day. Fact is I never felt any effects from the deficiency ever. It just turned up when I had my first blood panel back when I started having them and was promptly corrected by the next panel 3 months later. I hope you took none of what I said as mean spirited or confrontational. I'm not out to convert people to my way of thinking. Far from it since I hate when people do that to me. My only reason in posting here is to SHARE the knowledge I've gained from a lot of time reading about the metabolic sciences that's resulting in too many notebooks to even count now LOL, and, most importantly, just to encourage people to do the same hard work of googling for science based information (not third-party interpretations of it) and then, as best as you can, make up your OWN mind what you think is right and what is not. Kind regards ????
  7. With all due respect, you are missing my point completely. I am NOT discussing fad diets. I am discussing metabolic science. When you speak of a "healthy balanced diet", just who is that is defining what that is? In case you haven't figured it out, nobody really knows! That's because serious science-based inquiry into this question has only begun to evolve in the last few years. Many of the myths that were accepted as gospel truth like "breakfast is the most important meal of the day", or the notion that 3 square meals a day" are necessary for optimal metabolic health have absolutely no scientific basis to support them at all! Cutting edge clinical studies in the last few years of insulin sensitivity related to carbohydrates, and resultant metabolic response paint a picture that is far different than what was believed less than a decade ago, and the frequency of meals throughout a day is central to that. Again, like I haven't said it enough...OMAD IS NOT A DIET except in the mind of uninformed people. It has nothing to do with a weight loss strategy. It is simply a strategy that allows the body to access stored body fat and use it as an alternate fuel in the most efficient way . THAT is the goal for me, and for anyone who truly understands the science behind it. There is NOTHING unhealthy about eating only once a day. I am over 50 now and have been eating this way for a couple of decades now. I feel fine, I have all the energy I need throughout the day for a sense of well-being not to mention daily training for triathlon pursuits. My blood panels done quarterly are always spot on, so personally speaking OMAD has no negative effects for me that I am aware of, and I can say unequivocally, I start and end each day with a type of energy and enthusiasm I never felt when I was uncaring about having a nutritional strategy based on science instead of myth. People get so bent out of shape about whether a nutritional strategy is safe or dangerous. My response to that is "GIVE ME A BREAK!" If you simply let your body communicate with you, you'll know if something is good or bad for you. It has the ability to do that brilliantly and certainly a lot better than any pontificating, so-called "expert" ! Do I know for certain that my personal strategy for health is ideal? No! Of course not. The Metabolic Sciences are an evolving area of research. Nobody know for sure what is ideal in terms of nutrition. So, what do we do? Do we just say, "Well until they know for sure, I will do nothing but follow unfounded myths? I say No! I say, it's up to every person who cares about staying healthy and happy into old age to do your due diligence and learn what you can about the ongoing research...and then decide FOR YOURSELF and have the courage to live by your convictions. That's it! That's my plan of action. I'm not much for debating topics like this, or trying to convince others I am right, or have them try to convince me that I am wrong. I'm just speaking my piece so that others that are on the fence wondering which way to lean have some encouragement to google teh current research as best they can and then JUST THINK FOR THEMSELVES! instead of taking the easy way, relying on outdated myths or opinions of a single so-called expert who likes to pontificate but doesn't really have the answers anymore than the rest of us.
  8. OMAD and starvation are completely unrelated. You can get all the nutrition and calories you need in one single meal a day. OMAD is not at all about caloric-restriction. it is simply about optimizing how our bodies are able to fuel themselves. It's very simple actually...if your body is always in a fed state, meaning that glycogen does not significantly fall between meals, then the body's ability to access stored body fat as fuel can not be optimal. Worse yet, it can lead to insulin insensitivity associated with people who are always in a fed state. Again, I say...it is NOT a weight loss diet, though some misinformed people choose to see it that way. It is NOT about shedding a few pounds for reasons of vanity. It is about maintaining optimal metabolic health and not falling prey to diseases of old age, many of which are proving to have a metabolic-based etiology.
  9. There will always be "experts" who disagree with newly explored areas of science. You really need to google the actual scientific facts as best you can...and then decide for yourself what makes sense, rather than accept some "expert's opinion, simply because he is an "expert"
  10. The biggest problem most people have in understanding OMAD is that it is NOT a diet; it is a lifestyle based on proven metabolic science. It is not a rigid doctrine either. It is simply embracing the idea that the human body is not meant to constantly be in a fully fed state. Glycogen absolutely needs to be depleted through the day in order for the body's fat-burning mechanisms to work optimally. The human body is NOT designed to always be in a fed state! If it is, over time, it loses the ability to burn stored body fat. There is a huge myth that getting fat is just part of getting old, and it is not true! People get fat as they age, because they are always in a fed state, and that leads to the body losing its' ability to efficiently burn stored body fat. What OMAD does is adapt your body to be able to efficiently switch from fueling your body with glycogen to fueling it with stored body fat. When you first try OMAD, your body will fight you since it always wants to be ina. state of homeostasis, even when it is counterproductive, but give it a few days to get used to the "new normal" and those unnatural states of hunger will disappear quickly So, it is not a "diet" at all. Rather, it is the way for you to NEVER have to go on a diet in the first place.
  11. Congrats! ???? I've also been more or less OMAD for a while also. IMO there is more to OMAD than just digestion-related I think. It's really more related to changing the way your body uses food. If you eat 3 or more times a day, your insulin levels are always high. Your body gets used to that, and that is not a natural state. Over time, your body is less able to access stored body fat for energy, and that's where problems begin. It leads to unnatural hunger signals between meals which leads to in-between meal snacking, and pretty soon you are a slippery slope of increased body fat. Contrary to popular belief, there is no reason that as you age, increased body fat should be a consequence. That is an unfounded myth. People don't get fat as they age simply because they eat too much. They get fat as they age because they lose the ability to access stored body fat efficiently. The body is meant to deplete stored glycogen so that it can maintain its' ability to access stored body fat EFFICIENTLY, and metabolically it can not do that when insulin levels are always high. I'm obviously oversimplifying this process, but if you choose to explore the science behind it, it all starts to make a lot of sense.
  12. I have to say I really hate aerosol shaving creams. Foams and even the gel-type don't really work that well IMHO, and they often leave your skin feeling dry. A few years ago I switched to something I think is better called "Cremo" that comes in a toothpaste-like tube. Not only is it more environmentally friendly, and lasts about 3 times longer than a can of aerosol shaving cream, but they use some sort of emollients that are not soap-based. You only need a thin film on your face which is hard to believe the first time you use it, but whatever they use has such a low coefficient of friction, all you really need is a tiny bit. Good stuff ????
  13. Maybe it's just me, but there is nothing worse than starting the day with an uncomfortable shave that leaves your skin feeling like <deleted>. I was willing to spend the money for Gillette Mach-3 blades even if it is a total rip-off, but then do get scammed by counterfeits was the straw that broke the camel's back I think. I would never have thought of switching to a old-fashioned safety razor, which, in the long run, is even cheaper than those cheap generic throw-aways, but I'm glad I did! Safety razors have been around for over a hundred years in spite of the state-of-the-art cartridge razors with exotic names like "Mach" and "Fusion", or the $100+ electric razors that promise something they never deliver. There must be a reason safety razors are still popular, and now I know what it is...they are superior. Sometimes, you just can't improve on a classic!
  14. Wow! I never expected this thread to become so popular...and with a look of good posts instead of the troll-like posts that a thread like this often attracts. Happy about that for sure! Well...I got my brand new Feather safety razor from Lazada today and had my first shave with it this morning so I thought I'd give you a quick review. Keep in mind that I placed the order Thursday afternoon and it arrived here in Pattaya this morning! Lazada has the best delivery logistics for sure! I read up on how to use safety razors the other day, and it was clear that there is an "art" to using one correctly so I was a little nervous trying out my first shave. There is indeed a learning curve! As careful as I tried to be, I got a few nicks but then I noticed I had not switched the blade height setting to "mild" so that's probably why. I was really impressed by the sharpness of the Feather blade. You immediately can feel the difference between it and the blades in my Gillette Mach-3. It's hard to describe in words but there is no "tug" at all as the blade cuts the whiskers. Whereas GIllette relies on lubricants to reduce friction, it is the sharpness of the Feather blade that makes it glide so easily, and it is a remarkable feeling you just have to experience to appreciate! The one thing that was not so impressive (compared with the Mach-3 was the Feather's bulkier size. It made it feel a little dicey using it in tricky spots like under your nose, but I'm thinking that's probably part of the "art" of using it, and will come over time. All in all, when I finished and rinsed my face off, my skin felt smoother than it ever felt after shaving with a cartridge razor! My skin felt and looked so smooth it was sort of a rejuvenating experience LOL! As for the razor itself, because it was priced so low compared to the German Merkur brand, which are considered to be the "mercedes benz" of safety razors (and priced accordingly), I was surprised at the high quality of the feather razor. It is well-balanced, well built, and feels very precise, and it gives the impression that it will last a very long time. Considering I only paid 787 THB, compared with the cost of similarly adjustable Merkur which was 3,000 THB, I think it is an incredible bargain! A five-blade pack of blades costs only 40 THB, and each blade is supposed to give 5-7 comfortable shaves, so I think I made a pretty wise choice. I'm happy! So...I am saying good-bye to over-priced cartridge shaves and the frustration of counterfeits once and for all. The Feather razor and replacement blades are truly impressive and not just marketing hype, and are too inexpensive to attract counterfeiters. For a mere 20 bucks USD, it's a good deal IMHO!
  15. It's not just the snacks I was talking about. It is practically ALL processed foods. Big food manufacturers like Kraft, General Foods, FritoLay, etc... learned long ago that it's much cheaper to cut down on natural fats in food preparation, especially when the scientifically unfounded low-fat craze started in the 1980's. The problem was that taking out the fats did nothing to improve health, and worse, since doing that makes food products taste horrible, they came up with a super cheap way to add back the flavor, and that was high fructose corn syrup (HFCS)! HFCS is used in practically every food product these days, even in foods you would least expect it to be used like salad dressing, pasta sauce, peanut butter, even condiments like ketchup and mustard. And it is a prime ingredient in so-called healthy drinks like processed fruit juices, and when used in cereals and snackfoods, the amounts skyrocket. HFCS is simply concentrated carbohydrates so when you followed the Standard American Diet, which at the time, was promoted as healthy, your body was being overwhelmed by carbs even though you thought you were eating healthy. All you need to do is look at the steady rise in obesity and Diabetes-2 beginning in the 1980's and now at epidemic levels in most Western countries today. It coincides almost perfectly with the timing of the low-fat craze. it's no wonder that for the first time in history there is now an epidemic of Diabetes-2 IN CHILDREN, when that was practically unheard of before the 1980's! So I am speaking of ALL processed foods you find in supermarkets today. Aggressive public relations and advertising campaigns fool the public into believing these foods are healthy when nothing could be further from the truth. The "standard American diet" is often referred to by the acronym "S.A.D." and that is pretty spot on IMHO.
  16. I don't know if you've ever noticed but Lazada's rating system (merchant overall rating as opposed to individual review rating) is a joke. There is no such thing as a one-start seller. There is only 4-star sellers (which is anyone with even only one sale), or no-star sellers for those who have not sold anything yet. My big complaint with Lazada is they give you almost no way to rate a seller, especially if you can't read Thai since reviews are only in Thai with no auto-translation, and much of the product descriptions do not translate to English if the product description contains "A+ content" (which most listings now contain). They also have no way to sort a search by number of sales which offers an easy way to see which merchants are popular with buyers. That's one reason I buy more and more on AliExpress...because they do both of these things far better than Lazada, making a purchase decision easy and quick.
  17. In spite of their public relation stance of fighting counterfeiters and scammers, Amazon has some of the worst counterfeiters and scammers selling on their sites. With 6.3 million total sellers and an incredible 1.5 million active sellers on their sites worldwide, it's impossible for them to police.
  18. The problem with local brick & mortar stores is they often buy from wholesalers who sell on the Lazada and AliExpress platform, so (albeit unknowingly) some of the B&M stores are also selling counterfeit goods).
  19. Hahaha! That's the same conclusion I just came to after doing a bit of online research. My dad also used a safety razor but I remember that little styptic pencil he had to use afterwards for the cuts LOL My online research convinced me that safety razor design, and blade design has come a long way since then. Read what I just recently posted about Feather and Merkur. I just placed my order and am done forever with cartridge razors (I hope) ????
  20. I expect an online merchant to be honest (as some are) and say it is "compatible" not "genuine.
  21. My experience with Lazada is they are very good about providing no-hassle refunds when you claim suspicion of a counterfeit item on their platform. In fact, IMO, they have excellent overall customer service when it comes to a dispute for any reason at all.
  22. I think I just came up with a solution...I'm thinking of changing to an old-fashioned safety razor! As crazy as the idesounded at first, after I did some research, it sounds like a safety razor can not only be less expensive, but can also provide an even better shave than any of the cartridges if you use it properly! I've been reading up on them and contrary to what I thought, modern versions of safety razors have come a long way since your father's Gillette! many consider them superior to any of the cartridge systems. The cost advantage is 1) the replacement blades are super cheap compared with cartridges, and 2) I doubt they are being counterfeited at all since they are so inexpensive! I found out that there is a Japanese company called "Feather" that makes, what many shaving aficionado sites like badgerandblade.com, mancave.co.nz, and westcoastshaving.com consider to make the finest safety razor blades in the world! I got that impression not just from a few online sites, but over a dozen sites and forums dealing with men's grooming. The Feather blades are platinum and resin coated. They have been tested by a number of review sites and considered to be the highest quality and sharpest safety razors blade made. Typically most people get about 5-7 comfortable shaves per blade. Maybe cartridge systems allow for more shaves per cartridge, but on a cost-per-shave basis, the Feather blades are by far less expensive. Just do the math and you'll be as surprised as I was! They also make the safety razor that many consider to be even better then the gold-standard German made Merkur safety razors. They are both available on Lazada too! The cost for the razor is 749 THB which is a bargain compared to the German Merkur adjustable razor which cost around 3,000 THB, and some of the reviews claim it is made better than the Merkurs which were like the Mercedes-Benz of safety razors! The price for a 5-pack of the Feather blades is only 40 THB! So, the cost per blade is 8 THB (compared to 100 THB for a typical Gillette Mach3 cartridge), and if you get 5 shaves per blade, that's just ridiculously inexpensive compared to a cartridge blade! From everything I've read so far, the safety blade razor provides a closer, more comfortable shave if you use it properly. And it's even claimed that a safety razor is better for your skin. Of course there is a learning curve to using it "properly", but that sounds like a small price to pay for not being ripped off for outrageously expensive cartridge replacements, not to mention the difficulty of getting a genuine replacement! I mean, who is going to counterfeit a safety blade that only costs 8 THB retail, ya know? I'm gonna go for it...why not?
  23. I use an electric razor sometimes, but nothing is as nice as a blade, and the genuine GIllette Mach 3 is like a best-in-class design providing the closest and most comfortable shave, even after 20 shaves!
  24. Most of this counterfeit (or reconditioned / repackaged) cartridges comes from China, and as is well known, the Chinese are often masters of near-perfect counterfeiting. I really think it's a scam in which they get their hands on discarded blades, clean them up, put new cheap "wear" strips on them, and repackage them. I mean, the cartridges I got were literally so dull that they could not even be used! That might seem far-fetched but considering the low cost of labor in China, and the high price of genuine cartridges, it's possible. A genuine Gillette mach3 cartridge normally lasts me at least 20 comfortable shaves, and is probably the best cartridge for the money I've ever bought. The ones I received off Lazada on both occasions (from different sellers) looked identical (and when compared with a genuine Gillette cartridge, just slightly different), and on the very first use were so uncomfortable, I could not complete my shave!
