  1. Anyone got a valid email I can use?

I tried 5 different ones - all invalid.

    Called the three "help" lines.

Line 1. Waited forever on hold. Nothing.

Line 2. Eventual answer. Asked for English. Sawadeekaaa. English? Sawadeekaa. English? Hung up on me.

    Line 3. Constantly engaged.

If I start charging for my time for ridiculous govt things, at what level will I have to pay tax?

I live in Thailand in non imm o visa (retirement). I pay tax to Thailand for the pension I bring in to Thailand.

    Why?

Do you think they do a great job with the taxes?

    1. If your pension is taxed in your home country, then you will be exempt from tax on it here.

    2. If you have a capital amount that is over 12 months old you could draw on that and replace it with pension income, thereby avoiding the tax.

The law says if you stay more than 180 days in a country you are a resident there, thus, you have to change tax residency. So in the remote case that my country says to me, you dont live here anymore , you must change your  tax residency, i wanted to know if i can do tax reports in thailand.

    Ummmm. Not quite.

Any number of days does not make you resident. That's why, here for example, there are 473 different visas and to get one of them often involves jumping through many hoops.

Otherwise we would all just stay 180 days and be resident.

Your country is NOT going to chase you down and say we dont want your taxes any more, give them to some other country.

Getting a TIN seems to differ depending where you live. In my case it was passport, plus Cert of Residence from Immigration. Nothing too difficult.

Actually filing a tax return was a different story. An unsuccessful one.

Important point. Having a Thai TIN does NOT make you tax resident in Thailand. The TIN is just an admin thing, albeit one that can be very useful, and possibly negate your need for tax residency here.

Yeap....like if your servicing immigration office was CW (Bangkok) you can apply up to 45 days in advance.  Like today/20 Sep I applied at CW to extend my marriage extension of stay...current marriage extension was good thru 31 Oct.  No drama...it was approved...or should I say  I got the under consideration type stamp good until 1 Nov when I'm suppose to go back to get the 1 year stamp put in my passport.   So in this case I applied 41 days early.

You don't lose any time by applying early.   In my book a person should apply as soon as allowed (30-45 days before depending on your serving immigration office) "just in case" immigration initially rejects your application for some issue.....an issue that might take you a few weeks or longer to correct.

    Good job. Thanks Pib ????

  5. Registered a few days after it opened.

Included a pic of scales showing 100Kg+ (too lazy to get medical cert)

    Received confirmation email, then nothing.

18 Aug a SMS arrived. Turn up at Central Pattaya on 20 Aug.

    Done.

    Go back 10 Sept.

  6. Was at a well known Pattaya hospital last week, for a non painful condition.

Simply crazy pricing, including one small procedure that was FIFTEEN times the price I previously paid in a clinic.

I asked for a prescription to take with me.

    "Cannot. Not same your country."

I took the medical report and myself off to Fascino pharmacy, and paid a quarter of the price for the meds.
