Have you considered asking the Thai consulate this question.  I/we can tell you whatever we think.  I think you will be rich; you will have cancer; I think if you tip the IO you will get a 1 yr visa of your choice just because I told you to make sure you see a female IO...that's what I did.  

Seriously.  Ask the Thai consulate.  I am assuming this is important to you, otherwise why would you invest the time to ask.  What we think is Hypothetical...you want to gamble like that?  You want or need the BEST possible answer -right?

Went through CM immigration today for the first time.  Reading the signs behind all IO's "Do not give tips".  WHAT the heck do people tip IO for????  I have travelled the world, never seen that before.  Tips for IO...it's not like they cooked me dinner, this is not a pizza delivery service...can anyone explain this to me?  NO tips...ahahahha!

Unfortunately, we would like to know that.  Truth!  We NEVER will - likely!  It's like asking why we have to die.  Good luck in your search!  Once you have the answer, have you considered what then??

Simply....WELL stated.  After discovering the same, I have decided 30 days is the maximum I will stay.  Sure I could do the retirement or find a Thai honey to secure a marriage visa but its the principle now; NOT going to play this stupid game with IO.  I love Thailand, but I'm done with the nonsense....choosing a path of "less" resistance. Possibly South America but for now it's Vietnam.

BJ is tightening the belt on us farang...the LOS is not feeling warm and fuzzy.  I'm seeing the same as everything is costing more and becoming a much more labor intensive and NOT in our farang favor.  Time to join the local Russian mafia if I plan to stay longer in Thailand.

Ok, I get it!  This is simply how it is here, but can anyone explain WHY?  Is it low IQ, religion, choose the path or MOST resistance, power, hatred, money???

Welcome to the land of smiles and other deadly road kill  Don't be surprised, would you expect better...it's the way the life is here.   You're hoping for the tiger to change his stripes - NOT going to happen....EVER!  So suck it up or do something about it.

I wish i can add something significant...but all i can say is I have been rejected on this topic so many times that I gave up on retiring in Thailand.  I chose other more welcoming countries. Now i only visit thailand occasionally.  Good luck in your search, Thailand's immigration is like a dog chasing it's tail only to realize he doesn't have one....
