Noise is the biggest downside for me when living in Thailand, those bloody Tannoy trucks all day selling fruit to condos just as your having a siesta
I agree...Immigration is my night mare/cross to bear....can't this place like a HELL. Good luck to both of us...i'm not so sure I will be here much longer....can't survive in this xenophobic (noisy) society.

I suspect that wages of doctors here are far lower than in Switzerland. And infrastructure cost is lower, too. Then the only explanation I have if you need to pay more than in Switzerland for the same thing or even for a more inferior service is an artificially inflated bill (to put it politely). And I am not willing to play that game.
It was stated here on TVF that the quality you can expect in a government hospital is not that far from a private hospital. Obviously it depends on the doctor - not the institution - and as the example of Queen Sirikit Naval hospital shows doctors are working in different hospitals - be it a government hospital or a private one.
This raises the question of any future treatment of my 39 year old Thai wife as well. She recently was denied health insurance by a very well known insurer without having any preconditions exept a high BMI.
Good point. Feelings mutual on all aspects of your comments. It is frustrating. It begs the question, why bother counting to reside in Thailand if health care is a priority. My wife and I are questioning the same, perhaps better to move to US and forget all the Thai nonsense. However, what is thee value of your health to you? How much are you willing to pay for quality of life? That is personal. It may determine your next move...

Chazar is right....time people grew some BIG stones and sucked it up. Imagine if every guy got offended and sued for such rhetoric the courts would be flooded. Let it go...find better ways to use your income and time.

They will issue a document which has to be presented with the extension renewal etc.
Only companies on that list are acceptable to Immigration.
That’s what I’ve been told at any rate.
That is so corrupt and unfortunate for you & us expats. We are totally screwed if we need insurance to stay. Other option as far as I know is leave, or contact Ubonjoe (the Oracle of knowledge) perhaps he can suggest otherwise. He is an excellent resource that we are lucky to have.

I personally think you are fighting 3 normal issues. New Family, Moving one partner to a different country and the endless cultural challenges.
I can speak to the latter 2
My wife was very reserved at first when we moved to my home country. It took about 6 months for her to settle in. Regardless the 5 years we lived in the states we always had random cultural differences. I will say we have had far less cultural differences with us living in Thailand. It just seems to be easier.
I wouldn't over analyze it. Just go with the flow and remember that having a new born is always a challenge for everybody.
Good Luck and be patient.
I strongly concur with Jafro, but for me I would add one twist, she is unique in that she adapts well to anywhere "we" decide to go as long as we are together and she feels more at home in Asia somewhere. Good luck, and I would not micro manage it, just go with life....

HELL NO! Rather face jesus when he calls for me or give my baht to charity or bar girls. Ridiculous. Buy Cigna, one of the best, accepted globally and by Bumrungrad. Good luck.

That aggressive defamation nonsense only works in undeveloped countries like Thailand.
Never should have mouthed off about Musk's efforts to help either.
Well said Fex Bluse....what a waste of time and money...now his ego is bruised on top of the losses.

OK, quick question, how can immigration be a problem, you have Thai wife ... so a Visa that matches?
Out of respect of your time, If it were as simple as having a Thai wife to fix/avoid all my and the many Thai immigration related issue that so many forum contributors have expereinced since the inception of TVF, we would never be having this discussion nor would most be mentioning immigration issues. The matter is much more complex than only immigration, though that in of itself is plenty enough to make many consider other countries as easier paths to a more peaceful existence. Adding to the immigration issues as stated by other contributors and outlined by the survey, are additional deal breaking non negotialble issues. However, I greatly appreciate you reaching out to demonstrate such unwavering concern and compassion.

Hey Mike ... best of luck ... safe travels. When are you leaving?
Thank you for the kind well wishes, your so nice. Making plans with my thai wife we are just looking at that now....will let you know soon.

NO surprise...i can only echo TVF sentiment: Immigration is the biggest issue. Second, Baht strength, Third is everything else everyone has contributed from the hard reality of life here - Thailand does NOT = Elysium. As many of my expat friends have done, time to move on...

Not really, you need to understand it and adapt to it.
How to adapt? Understand it? Really? Hmmm....Ok! The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting a different result....I guess I will try insanity since reason is not working...thank you for the insight and wisdom...i'll get back to ya.

Its not about wanting, its about revamping entire driving license system and training.
They simply do not know road rules and do not have any training.
Driving lessons consist of driving around in a circle in an open field.
Lack of enforcement does not help either.
I often have fights with my staff when they get pulled over, no driving license, no helmet. They scream bad police, whats the problem they driving to or from work. I tell them, police did their job as they should, and they (staff) are in the wrong. All i get told is that i do not understand
May be if fine for driving without DL was 10 000 baht instead of 500, they may think twice about driving without one. and may be if proper training was provided, instead of few thousand here and there, it will also make difference, by the way, testing is also done in cornered off zone which does not require much skills at all.
I am sure if testing was done on open road, like in most countries in the world, vast majority would be failing miserably.
Let me see if I understand all you have said: Thai airways, Thailands national air carrier is flown by Thai national pilots and "They simply do not know road rules and do not have any training" you say? Really? How do they start their cars? How is it that the Thai pilots can operate an aircraft then?
Everything in life is a choice. I can teach you do anything, but I cannot teach you DESIRE!
Again! I will say it but only this last time....CHOICE/DESIRE!
