  1. You are just simply to hooked on honda and having a new bike all the time LL.The options are there in Thailand you just have to go the 2 nd hand route or splash out some real hard cash.

Of coarse the 500 is easy and smooth to ride that's what makes it a good entry level begginer bike.

I'm in the uk and am happy to buy 2nd hand I have no interest in laying out 8 or 10,000 gbp just so I can have the latest model bike.

Yes, you're in the UK so you post is simply a waste of bandwidth.

  2. I enjoy commuting quicker on my CB500F than the 650 Kawas I see on the roads of Chiang Mai. But for touring, it has to be the CB650. Honda service has always been spot on, plus I met the chief designer (not sure the faceless Kawas had an actual designer). I could never bring myself to buy a Kawasaki; it'd be like buying a Chevy *shudder*

  3. FYI: Double rear shocks are not as good as a rear mono-shock. More isn't always better, even in Merika.

    Very interesting!

The new Yamaha Tricity has two shocks as of course does the PCX the subject of this thread.

Honda Click 125i only has one shock so I guess that makes it better?

You don't usually come across as stupid, so I'll let it go.

  4. Thanks for all the comments, just to clarify a lil, i live in Krabi(Aonang) so good quality and pretty new roads, no traffic at all but my wife and I are moving almost every week to Phuket or Lanta for business ( 150 to 400kms round trip). We have to bring with us 3 to 15 pax... in the last case we usually rent a minivan...

To respond to some of you, i like very much the new Mazda 3 (2 or 4 doors) very nice design and i heard a lot of good things about Mazda engines but Madam looks more interrested by the Civic ;).

As have mentioned KittenKong, the maintenance cost (tires, ect...) is more expensive for a pick-up and that s what i d like to know precisely.

If, anyone of you gets any experience with the Ford Ranger Wildtrack i ll be glad to hear about it.

Not sure why anyone would listen to a woman's opinion when just about to spend a large lump of money on a new car.

  5. A modern day truck, especially with auto trans would be my idea of a safer ride. I have driven many vehicles in LOS and for sure a truck or full size SUV has better vision all round for those pesky bikes that do daft stuff on the inside. Being up higher is a bonus too, I remember that from my heavy goods vehicle driving, as long as your side mirrors are correctly adjusted.

Secondly I would rather be in a truck if someone broadsides my ride whether a bike or car. I am now referring to to trucks that have the higher suspension. Just my thoughts, and that is what I did when I came to LOS and have not regretted it..thumbsup.gif

Maybe he's not decrepit or female and would prefer a manual gearbox so he can actually enjoy driving the thing?

  6. Most laws are deliberately vague here so there is always room for maneuver to allow some 'hi-so' to get off and no one looses face. Most laws are also written by idiots for idiots. I prefer to ignore what passes for law here and do things in a more correct and sensible fashion. As for stopping for the brown mafia...

  7. I recently rented a Click on an island and freewheeling down a steep gravel/sand road without engine compression to help it slow was exciting for sure.

Wheel size: Nouvo & Hyate have 16"wheels which, with a bit larger tires, work ok through holes except for the unsprung weight thing.

Disk brakes cool better and thus fade less than drum brakes.

Much better overall methinks...hence the popularity?

Wave 125 has drums on rear I think, hence not disks 'all around.'

Raider or Sonic for rear discs.

Our 2 year old Wave 125 has a rear drum brake.

  8. The only short-term advantage I see on the Z250 is the great availability of mods and the price, and if he plans to use it only on the city. (it has no ABS thou)

Otherwise, go for ER6n, CB500F as better long term investment, or if plan to travel with the bike.

Edit: also because the will have ABS and are quite stable on the road.

Be aware that the CB500 has much less breaking power than the ER6N or a Ninja 300.

    What a crock!

  9. Phone GPS is dangerous if you use it without a passenger. Then the dam thing turns of as soon as you say Left or Right here. Garmins the best value here imo.

Nokia drive doesn't. Admittedly, the woman telling me where to go doesn't know thailand very well, but that's women for you...

  10. The question was not answered, he asked about White, plain and .simple. He got an Elaborate Reply, nothing wrong with that. The straight answer is THEY ARE NOT. He didn't ask about about specialist finishes.w00t.gifw00t.gif

Yes he did, because flat white paint isn't more expensive and he quite specifically mentioned the white paint that is more expensive

  11. I changed the bars on the Monster 795 for the raised ones and it gives a far more comfortable riding position I think the bars were about 15000 THB from Ducati.

Did you also revove the gas tank to stop your gonads being crushed whenever you ride it?

Sent from my GT-P3100 using Tapatalk

It's not a problem with the bars or the gonads it's the way you are sitting on the bike. You sit with your feet not your bottom, it's not a chopper. Put the balls of your feet on the pegs and grip the tank with your knees. This will push you back in the seat, even better if you get a decent rearset because the pegs are quite low.

I just bought a bike that doesn't require yoga knowledge in order to comfortable on. Kudos to Honda,

  12. 2 wrongs don't make a right. Further, some noise is unavoidable/natural (construction sites/planes/nature etc.) where as loud exhaust pipes have no benefit whatsoever, besides showing off.

You are completely correct, only bikers (and disco owners), which I am not, understand why it is ok to bother others with meaningless noise.

I am not sure what a wannabe biker is? If I wanted to be a biker, would simply buying a bike not make me a one? Or are there other requirements? :-)

The principle of the internal combustion engine relies on two things, fuel and air. If you want increased power you need more fuel but you cannot add more fuel without adding more air to achieve a correct combustion ratio. Therefore the quicker you can get the products of combustion (exhaust gases) out of the engine the quicker you can add more fuel and air. Two by-products of this are heat and noise. Think of the noise like wind, the stronger wind blows the noisier it is. Some bikers tune their exhausts to make noise without increasing horsepower. These are mostly the Thai boy racer crowd or Harley Gays Guys.

You have probably never driven a mid-engined sports car like a Ferrari, you can't hear yourself talk inside. If you want to be a biker you need to decide what type of riding you like but that's a huge subject. The vid below explains why most of us guys ride bikes.

If that's the case why do Hardley Ablesons make loads of noise but very little power?
