  1. Got to remember that in Yamaha's major target markets ( not Thailand ) the MT-09 is a bargain priced bike where you get an awful lot for the asking price, £6799 in the UK. Even more astounding is the price of the twin cylinder crossplane crank MT-07 which has more horsepower and is lighter than the ER6N and Gladius and is also cheaper at only £5199.

I saw the chap from MCN raving about the MT-07 the other day. Said it was an absolute diamond of a bike and wondered why Yamaha haven't made more noise about it.

  2.

You can only do so much with a Truck looks wise. I think they get more ugly each year......   Bloated W.C Fields Nose look of todays offerings are  ugly to me. Does anyone think a Retro, say a 1960 Chevy / Dodge look would catch on .?.

I'm not a pickup buyer, but I'd buy a well-implemented modern retro looking pickup - the strategy works well for the Mini, Beetle, Fiat 500, PT Cruiser etc..

I agree, it'd be nice if done properly (i.e. better than the PT Cruiser).

  3. "Get the spare wheel lock from Chevy."

Thanks for that. That was my very first thought. However, the Chevy Dealer Sales Manager said..."No Hab"

"In fact google pickup spare wheel lock and you should see a few different makes/types."

I have been doing that, but being unfamiliar with the mech, I do not know what I am looking at or if they are Chevy Colorado specific?

I guess next week I'm going to have to crawl under the truck and stare at it for a bit, to get a feel for what is there and what I should need to secure it. I was hoping for an easier 'plug and play' senario.

    Thanks

And so continues the battle for worst aftersales in Thailand!

Ford actually ordered mine in for me.

  4. Unless the 110 is priced right(under 40,000 baht)then buy a far more capable bike for less strain on longer runs or up-hills.Even better would be to buy a far better built bike such as a Lifan 110cc (less than 40,000 baht brand new)or better still , a Yamaha Nouvo.

Lifans are shit. They're built to a similar budget that a normal person would build a Meccano bike with.

  5. Those who promote Camry over BMW , clearly never owned one or driven one or can actually afford one.

That's what really matters to many BMW owners in Thailand.

    Well why the hell not?

People work very hard to earn money to buy a nice, more luxurious car, what is the problem with that?

Or steal govt revenue that wes supposed to be used for a project for the betterment of the population?

  6. Real driving lessons, a real driving test and real traffic regulation enforcement, would the best start.

I've had real lessons and passed the test here. Your third point is not a reason I live here, but let's call it a benefit. We can drive here freely without the constant worry about where the police might be lurking.

Keep complaining and one day LOS will be just like the over regulated countries we came fromsad.png

That's a fun course, driving around Noddy Town in first gear, but I don't see how it demonstrates to anyone that someone is ready to drive a car on a public road.

The main point, you conveniently left off. The road layouts here, especially outside of Bangkok are quite frankly insane. You have roads where no one knows who should have right of way (actually, the concept of right of way is alien here), you have slow vehicles moving across 2 or 3 lanes of faster vehicles to get to the stupid U-Turns, not one of these idiots can negotiate a roundabout, It's very rare when someone lets another vehicle do a manoeuvre that would help everyone else on the road (such a allowing a right turn from the opposite lane when traffic is stationary) as they're a bunch of selfish children in general.

Yes, it's nice to live in a country where you can pretty much do what you like, but we have the advantage of coming from countries that instil a sense of safety, so most of the time are thinking for every other lunatic out there on the roads, as they don;t think for themselves. It's especially concerning when you have kids. My lad, even when he was 4 would wonder how they could be so stupid. I daresay he will join them as he gets older, sadly.

  7. Women, wherever, are about brand name handbags, they must be different from the rest for the WOW thing. I think the same with transport, they want the others to think....WOW...... don't care about issues with the thing. Your 4 wheel ride is YOUR domain, your homework, if you are a sheep and panders to her in doors, then you are beyond help.........sad.png

    Totally agree.

For sure, ask them, but then make your own choice.

Oh, and whatever you do, don't buy a Fortuner unless you have a matching tattoo of 'W****r' on your forehead.

  8. All BMWs are rear wheel drive. There have been some four wheel drive models, but never a front wheel drive.

I have know idea if the OP's car is front wheel drive. If it is not, then the water thing is something I don't understand. Perhaps he is being fobbed off. Sounds like it. BUT, modern stuff is out of my domain, perhaps there is some sort of trans water cooling, I don't know. BL transverse engines and trans used the same oil, they were one, if a head gasket went then water went into the gearbox and sump.

Obviously due to reading this thread and horrified that TV armchair experts have no idea how their products are driven or which way round the engine is.... BMW announce the Front Wheel Drive 2 series Active Tourer to be sold Worldwide including Thailand. Therefore any future threads will have all bases coveredlaugh.png

Looks like Beemer have put one of their front ends on a Fiesta.

  9. any one with a bit of sense should have realised that it was for migrant workers. It was not intended for expats to get multiple expensive operations or treatment for a couple of thousand baht a year. Those who did get a card took advantage of the system. There were many posts about this on TV including mine. which warned that it would not work out.

except, if you actually saw any of the videos from the meetings the provincial healthcare executives had with the insurance company who were underwriting all of this, it was clearly stated that it was for all foreigners.

Yes, it was badly thought out and instigated, but that par for the course.
