  1. Stronger and stronger Thai drivers ..:cheesy:
Hey, I'll go through the night, cops sleep, nobody will see me ..
Except that if the bridge is limited to 12 tons, there must be a reason.
When we see the vehicle we already know that it is more than 12 tons empty, so full of pebbles or sand he had to weigh a good 50 tons ...
I hope that the owner of the said truck is well insured ...
Insured no well connected then no prop

  2. Don't stamp your passport with Hello Kitty - the Taiwanese don't like it!

Caption: Can't travel because of Kitty

A Thai woman went online to advise people not to decorate their passports with pink stamps of the cartoon character Hello Kitty.

This is because the Taiwanese authorities won't let you into their country.

Three passports similarly defaced were shown online after an airline barred the holders from travelling to Taiwan at the weekend.

The holders argued that they had got into plenty of other countries before but the airline wouldn't budge.

It was unclear whether the passport holders were children or adults.

Netizens related similar stories about Taiwan - apparently it was a turkey shoot as to whether you'd get in if you'd put cartoon stamps on your passport.

More adults netizens pointed out that a passport was a grown-up document issued by a government - deface it at your peril.

Follow Japanese traffic laws - that will reduce accidents, Thais urged

Thailand is turning to Japan to try and reduce the appalling death toll on its roads.

Government officials think that by implementing Japanese rules and regulations they can make the Thais a more responsible law abiding race.

Harsher punishments, a strict points system for driving offences and serious licence removal for offenders is at the heart of the plans proposed by the Communications Ministry.

Citing Thai Post the ryt9.com site quoted communications deputy Jirut Wisanjit as saying that the Japanese model of law enforcement was what was needed to help solve the crisis on Thailand's roads.

By following the Japanese's strict adherence to the law the Thais would be inspired to be more responsible and this would lead to less accidents.

The implementation of stricter measures regarding the points system and removal of licences was seen as vital.

The Japanese model could see Thailand taking away licences for six moths, one year, three years and permanently in some cases.

Thaivisa notes that the website did not mention the thorny issue at the heart of adopting any new legislation - enforcement.

  4. Volunteers launch massive beach clean up on Mat Sum Island

Samui VIP Speed Boat has took part in a huge clean up of the beach at Mat Sum Island off Koh Samui last Friday.

After storms battered Koh Samui in January, the local authority on the island had made a concerted effort to clean up the beaches on the island popular with tourists.

    2.JPG.a4d412e3ea0ea8eefda4fef3cae0ebfa.JPG

However, the beaches on the Mat Sum Island had been forgotten with trash and debris from the storm washed up on the shoreline.

Luckily, the guys from Samui VIP Speed Boat stepped in to clean up the island.

They published the request for help from volunteers to join forces and go out for the day to clean the beach.

Offering their luxury speed boats, cold drinks, tools and plastic garbage bags,
all volunteers gathered together and cruised down there from BangKao pier.

About 40 people, locals, foreigners and residents of Samui did a great job and collected massive amounts of trash keeping the beach in much better shape.

After a couple of hours cleaning, the group had some great time cruising around, enjoying the amazing views and relaxing on Matsum Island before heading back to Samui.

It was great to see the local community working together to make things better.

Following on from the success of the last beach clean up, the Samui VIP Speed Boat plan a second beach clean up day in the near future. To keep updated about that event and other events in the future, follow Samui VIP Speed Boat on Facebook.

  5. So it seems he's got two different places, a larger and a smaller one.... The larger one offered for $187 per night seems to be the name mentioned in the OP article here.... Best World Vision below on the right...

Still, the locals were probably pissed that he was undercutting their prices for comparable offerings.

I am German but have changed country over 200 times in my life - have lived 10 years in California, 5 years in India, 8 years in Brazil among others - but after all I feel Koh Samui the best place and have come here again and again since 37 years. Since 5 years I have settled on this beautiful island and built 2 villas according to my own plans, combing all what I have learned from living only in hotels for over 10 years - so I will be able to give you many good tips if you like.
and you can try my complementary therapy devices that you see on the picture - Villa rental is just a hobby for me - if you want to see what I do for a living you can put my name KIRAN SCHMIDT into (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) or youtube
Also 50% of the net-profit goes to children charity - so I when you are here I can show you where your money is going to help

    Hmmm......  have to wonder....

  6. “Respect to the law and how culture in Thailand operates.”?

Give me me a break. There is no rule of law in Thailand. It’s money above everything else that personifies Thai culture. And before you label me some “Thai Basher” (a silly euphemism often applied to those who speak the truth on this forum) in less than 2 years back in Thailand after living with me in the US, my Thai wife is in the process of being cheated out of land that’s been in her family for decades, and has had to pay thousands of baht to corrupt government officials for a building permit for an extension to our house. I might add that while our extension was built to code, our next door neighbor built a similar extension but did clearly outside of code/illegally. No skin off my/our teeth as it doesn’t impact us, but spare us the drivel about “respect for law and Thai culture.”
    Spot on
