  1. Thanks for your contribution @HFBen - I wasn't aware of your various delivery choices & their associated fees so that is good to know.

esco we offer the same prices as you would find in-store. For Big C & Gourmet we include a small service charge (3-5%) in our prices to cover the cost of picking the products in-store.

A question about your Tesco service - based on your comment above, does that mean that the Tesco staff are picking the products for you? If so, do they have the same level of training as your own pickers when it comes to fresh food quality?

  2. Excellent feedback TGJiB - much appreciated.

So essentially it comes down to the products available - they're pretty much the same on most other factors.

I am interested in your comments re going direct to Big C / Tesco websites for online ordering - is that because their prices are better on there? I've been browsing the Happy Fresh site and some of the items I regularly buy do seem more expensive on there which I assumed comes down to HF marking up the product. I see honestbee claim the same price as in store.

They both seem to offer free delivery above a certain amount although it seems that honestbee have both a lower free delivery threshold (THB 590 at the moment) whilst Happy Fresh charge a premium for "peak hour" deliveries.

  3. With most supermarkets now offering online ordering & delivery through either honestbee or Happy Fresh I'd like to know from members who've used both whether or not there are any differences between the 2?

If they were both active in your area would you choose one over the other & if so, why?

We've just moved to a new condo and now I have the luxury of choosing between them.

    TIA.

Since TVaddons is being sued, expect most of the addons in that repo to shut down soon. This include Exodus.

I rarely use Exodus (or Phoenix) these days so it won't interrupt my viewing habits too much but they were handy to have as backups.

There's no way the authorities can go after all the apps, addons, streaming services, etc and shut them all down but it will be interesting to watch how this all unfolds.

  5. IMHO, far and away the best shave from a disposable blade available in Thailand is delivered by the Boots branded product.

Provides a closer shave for at least 2 weeks of daily use whilst, for me, the Mach 3 starts to cause rash after approx.5 uses. It's also cheaper and the handle is a heavier unit which provides nice balance - all round, a better experience. And it's cheaper than the Mach 3... ;)

Their imported shaving gel at THB 105 for a large can is also good value that performs well.

The Gillette products have declined in performance over the past few years whilst their on-pack claims have become more exaggerated so I now refuse to buy them.

  6. A couple of weeks ago I took delivery of a T95R PRO Smart Android Box with 3GB ROM and 32 GB storage - it's based on Amlogic S912 Octa Core and comes with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. I bought it from Lazada.

Wanted it to replace my old M8 box which now provides my son with his cartoon and youtube requirements.

I've got the latest Wookie SPMC build installed and it is flawless, definitely a noticeable streaming improvement. I mostly use it for one of the expat TV services (not Thai) as it has an Australian package which includes all Fox Sports Oz and Fox Footy channels in HD & on demand.

I chose the T95R for its combination of Ram, storage & spec's & am very happy with the choice.

Vila sell any amount of booze at any time. The only time I have seen them impose the ban is election day and certain Buddhist holidays.

Like most things - law enforcement tends to ebb & flow in their efforts to enforce these laws.

Certainly, religious & special days are a lot more high profile when it comes to such matters.

I think you'll find that the Villa staff will serve based on familiarity with a customer. They won't take the risk with someone they don't know as the penalties are substantial & I am aware of the law having being enforced in recent times.

I believe if you are buying over a certain amount the ban does not apply. From memory the figure is not excessively high, perhaps 4-5,000 baht which if you are buying wine may only be a few bottles or less.

There used to be a 10 litre rule but that's no longer in place.

Any sales outside the prescribed trading hours are against the law.

  9. I walk through WS every morning on my way to my office on Sukhumvit and for those asking - all remaining bars in the square itself are now gone including The Dubliner and the Sportsman. Demolition of both establishments commenced earlier this week. The bars on the Hare & Hound side are also gone.

I'll take a few pics when I get a chance.

The redevelopment will be great for the area so bring it on.

  10. Picked up a Brother DCP-J315W the other day and installed the Brother app on 2 iPad's and 2 iPhones that are in the house. Love the ability to take a pic and print it out via the wi-fi connection.

    Would highly recommend Brother.

  11. Couldn't connect to Truemove 3G on 3 devices at home this morning and then made the 15 minute trip to my office in Sathorn and still no joy.

Any other areas or providers with the same issue?

Our office ADSL is working so it's clearly just a True 3G issue.

Hopefully not a sign of things to come!

    Stay dry,

  12. Could be browser or proxy related (if applicable).

Not sure which browser OP is using but Google Chrome has known issues with logging into some account based sites when connecting through a VPN or Proxy. No such issues with IE or Firefox.

I cannot login to Facebook with Google Chrome on my work laptop in the office but can at home.

  13. Hi,

I have a need to urgently fill a number of roles including Account Manager & Business Development Manager.

Can anyone recommend a recruitment firm that specialises in FMCG middle management roles?

I am particularly keen to hear about those with which folks have had recent postive experiences.

I've tried to use JobsDB.com but haven't been able to find the right people.

    Thanks in advance guys,

    GGG

  14. I'd highly recommend Just One in Sathorn Soi 1. Nice outdoor environment with excellent food at very reasonable (value) prices. Their menu is very extensive and the seafood is always fresh.

I've been going there for 10 years and have a number of friends who have returned to visit & they always ask to go back.

You can get to it from either Sathorn Soi 1 or Rama IV (not sure which Soi) - if coming from Sathorn it's at the end of the Soi before you turn left back to Rama IV.

    Bon appetite!

  15. Villa Market in various parts of Bangkok and in Phuket, Pattaya & Hua Hin all sell a couple of different Miracle Whip varieties - including the original product.

I guess this is what the Villa Paradise reference was earlier in this thread - Villa's latest (& biggest) store is in Paradise Park (not far from Seacon Square) and it definitely has 2 different types of Miracle Whip - I was there today! Regular & Light for those whom are curious....

  16. poorsucker - enjoying the heritage trail, and looked forward to a foot massage at the end of the second day's walking

turns out Astro Supersport is showing the rugby also, and hotel has it available, am staying near the Soho bar but last night preferred to be back at hotel and watch the Ireland-France match.

Hi genghis61 - which hotel did you stay at? Would you recommend it to others?

    TIA.
