  1. Horrible. It is rapidly expanding now. Flames are same height as the Coal Power Plant Chimney (90m+)
  2. Are the shocks pressurized with a gas like nitrogen? Or spring/oil loaded? 2021 I brought a set of Ohlins forks to EU with no problems. Not pressurized. 2022 I brought a "like new" 3000 EUR exhaust system from EU to TH. Green line checked my bags, and I explained the exhaust was 27 years old. They did not ask for value or invoice. New - ask the seller to ship directly to Thailand and just pay the tax at your local post office. The process is 2-5 days longer. You will receive a notice in your mailbox explaining how much you need to pay. (Seller will export without VAT). 2nd hand - bring in your suitcase on the way back from EU and have a "reasonable" invoice and cash ready. (If not pressurized).
  3. It is off course absolutely not ok to kick, shub or accidentally fall onto someone, but deportation without any real damage on the Doctor? Why is nobody questioning how the Doctor and friend came from Taste Yamu Restaurant to the beach on the east side of Yamu? It looks like it is a private village and security/entrance is just next to Taste Yamu, but even after passing the security guard the only way to the beach is through private villas. Or 4km by car and 1.5km along the beach at low tide. It was low tide, but how did the 2 ladies plan to get back to public road in this case? Or a boat? "Could" she be a very clever Doctor with a very long nose, looking for an alternative income? Public beach is off course what it is, but it looks like there are very limited "legal" entrance options to this public beach? How can they walk to this side of the beach legally? Seems like a long walk only for watching the full moon?
  4. 5-10sec freeze and sound out of sync have been a problem for a long time. If I watch a movie and it happens, I remember the time, go back and restart the movie. If I watch catch up of something with commercials it usually works by jumping to just after the buffer marker. No issues on live programs except occasional 5sec freeze. A bit annoying, but hdprime is still a very nice TV/Movie option.

Nang Ram Beach (Sattahip Navy) and Samae San offers amazing snorkeling and the water is far from polluted. Atoll Farm in Rayong (saltwater fish breeder) is highly respected in the world and one of the few who has successfully bred Pygmy Angelfish. He pays a boat to bring 5000L of sea water from Samae San once a week. Serene Phala has a very nice 100x50m clean beach. Live music on the beach on most days and a great beach bar. (not close to any nightlife).
  6. I have not flown with Singapore Airlines to Australia, but with Thai. Bangkok-Brisbane was an A350 with flatbed arrangement. Return was an older aircraft with around 40 degree seat decline (horrible in comparison). Good input. Check aircraft model before booking and chose dates with newer aircrafts if you can.
  7. We changed from 125i to 160i when the 160 click was released. I dont feel much difference between the two, but our Gartner loves it and already put 18k on the 160i. 160i pulls a bit harder and feels a bit larger than 125i = I think better stability if you have a passenger. The key fob was tricky in the beginning, but it is pretty simple. Keep the key fob in your pocket. PUSH IN and turn the knob to unlock front wheel/ready to start. I would prefer a good old mechanical key, but we had no problems with the key fob so far and it is nice it can be kept in the pocket. ABS on the front wheel is a nice safety factor compared to 125i and one of the reasons I wanted to change. Small wheels + sand + turn + braking is quite dangerous with 14" wheels.

On a 4 day trip it is mandatory - according to OP/topic? Sure if OP and guests has time for that and a brilliant host like yourself.
  9. THEN replied to oxo1947's topic in Bangkok
Seems like OP has found an expert guide. But strange OP is not replying? And basically waste of of other peoples time to give input, if you already had a fixed plan.
  10. THEN replied to oxo1947's topic in Bangkok
Sure, it is almost mandatory on a 4 day Bangkok trip for a couple in the mid 40s. Now you comment OP's thread as we = I can only wish you guys a great trip.
  11. THEN replied to oxo1947's topic in Bangkok
River travel and experience is a MUST in Bangkok for possibly new guests? What hotel 2 bed room condo is it you say that is so great in HCM with direct river transport to center? Do you know HCM at all?
  12. THEN replied to oxo1947's topic in Bangkok
Did OP say his guests are experienced in Bangkok? OP has a lot of experience, but let him answer? whether your river travel plans and experience level suits his guests or not.
  13. THEN replied to oxo1947's topic in Bangkok
Yes, but OP also mention the couple would like to visit roof top bars = near Sukhumwit was just a suggestion from my side. And Soi 8 is not sleazy if you ask me, if they want to stay in Bangkok, then it is value for money close to BTS. All in all I dont understand why you have to make so many comments, since you are not the OP. Let OP answer and try to make valid posts.
  14. THEN replied to oxo1947's topic in Bangkok
You sir, stands for 33% of all posts, so if the OP has left the topic, then you are most likely a big contributor to this.? How many of your posts had any value to OP or anybody?
  15. THEN replied to oxo1947's topic in Bangkok
Yes I stayed at Landmark hotel, because TG had 3 flights per day so my Pakistan work was fast in/out. I only mention it, because Landmark was nice. But value for money I preferred Stable Lodge, which was a horrific 10% from the budget and thereby you decide it is rubbish. It was just my inputs, but I guess today I learned what a troll is and now I need to learn to stop feeding the troll who wish to answer all posts. Is soi 8 sleazy? or what you call it?
  16. THEN replied to oxo1947's topic in Bangkok
So my post was rubbish? It was just my inputs and I think my single post was much more valuable, than your 28 posts in this thread. Or if you know it all, then please share your wisdom. 1800thb is only 200 thb per night from a 2000-3000thb requested target (10%). Are my inputs obsolete/rubbish, just because you deem they are? OP also mention activities most of the 4 days = I would personally stay close to a Sukhumwit BTS station, unless I am driving around. Most of the really amazing high rise roof tops are located along Sukhumwit rd. Is 400m up Soi 8 a "sleazy" area?
  17. THEN replied to oxo1947's topic in Bangkok
Why so grumpy and anti on all posts? Get a life! Is 1800thb in the middle when OP asked for 2000-3000thb per night? Please also note that he asks for late Dec/Christmas = my 1800thb estimate will most likely be 2000-2500thb per night. Anyways - it was just a recommendation as well as Landmark, even this outside of budget. Bravo on yourself
  18. THEN replied to oxo1947's topic in Bangkok
I can recommend Landmark hotel, but will be 4000-5000thb per night. Best value for money for me is Stable Lodge on Soi 8. 300-400m up the soi, quiet, clean and nice + some of the best Scandinavian and Indian food in Bangkok. Rooms are small, but clean and nice. All rooms have a balcony and I think around 1600-1800thb per night for 2 adults incl. breakfast. For Ho Chi Minh I prefer Liberty Central Saigon Riverside. Great location and the view over the river and opposite land will be pretty spectacular on New Years eve. I guess around 4000 thb per night, if they have available rooms.
  19. In my home country every fire department has a container and crane truck on standby. Some EV fires demands a full submersion in water and that is what they do now. This was never a problem with petrol/diesel/gas fueled cars. I am not against EVs and looking forward to get one - but that is not what the topic is about.
  20. I guess it depends if you travel outside Thailand a lot or not? I use a cc from Kasikorn because I travel a lot, I know it comes with a cost of 2-3% which annoys me, but the past 2 years of usage was 185k miles to my ThaiAirways account = our next trip to EU on business will cost us ECO ticket price. I was annoyed by the 2-3% but if a person travels a lot (lots of flights and hotels outside of Thailand) then it makes sense if you also remember to use the points earned at the end of the day.
  21. Similar problem with Google Earth and road numbers in Thailand. Especially the smaller rural roads with 4 numbers XXXX, they can be very long and only have the road name mentioned every 5 km. Zooming out and in, I usually find the actual road number. If not, then I go streetview and look at the road markers.

  23. Hi mate Sorry to hear about your dogs problem, tough times when you as owner want to do anything to get your dog back on track. We have 5 dogs from 3-7 years old. I can recommend the Vet we are using in Ban Chang. They have done perfect on our previous problems: Broken front paws and toes. Broken hip and leg. Spitting Cobra. 1 month ago our oldest dog was sick, she was happy, running around, but vomiting more than normal. Her stomach had some kind of fluid and was big. Our vet drained around 3-4L fluids every 3 days for 3 weeks. But most importantly the medication they gave our dog worked and she is even more healthy and active now. Blood tests showed it was a problem with the Liver, so I didn't expect her to survive, but she did. Not the same symptoms as your dog, but I can recommend our Vet in Ban Chang if you dont mind a 30-40min drive. Best of luck
