Hows the Beach Road in Patong doing? I haven’t ventured down there for a week or so, but I expect the works have been successfully completed and the residents of Patong (& others) can have the pleasure of driving on a first rate road.

In the end the question is what do these jet-skis add to the Phuket tourist business?
Personally I hear much more people cursing these jet-skis than liking them. A lot of people do not want to return to Phuket because of these things and some search for smaller beaches where they do not exist.
The sum of it all is that jet-skis is a net negative for the Phuket tourist trade and only benefit a few people.
“... what do these jet skis add?”
one thing they add are additional hazards on the roads when being taken too & from the beaches. 5 or 6 jet skis on home made wooden trailers without brakes or indicators being towed behind an unroadworthy motorbike/sidecar, that’s one of the things that is added.

Is it just me? Whenever they (insert your choice of ‘they’ ) are trying to promote Thailand ‘they’ appear to be limited to the choices between a) shopping, & b) food.

The Phuket Provincial Waterworks Authority (PWA) has announced that the mains water supply will be shut off in parts of Patong, Karon, Kathu and Chalong from Monday (Feb 8 through to Feb 17 as work is being carried on water supply system maintenance.
thank goodness the disruption of the water supply that we’ve been experiencing on and off for the past number of years may soon be over as they will be doing maintenance work to the supply system ????????????????????????????????????????
From Feb 18 to whenever... the mains water supply will be frequently cut off while they still mess about with finishing off the new water transmission pipeline delivering water to Patong

I sincerely hope that Madam Mayor is more accurate with predicting the timeline on this project than she has been with her forecasts on the completion of the utter shambles on Patong beach road

The developer said: – Our company accepted the decision of the Supreme Administrative Court to revoke the land document, a NorSor 3 Kor [land-use document], and no longer have the right of this land since the order was issued.
“There are a few main issues; that company will be taking care of the customers, agents and the people of Phuket, as well as all other relevant people involved in this project, the order to revoke the land document and for the construction to be demolished, and the land owner will appeal to the Administrative Court to consider this case again,” he said.
This statement almost seems as if they believe they have got a case if they appeal, but according to everything I've read, it appears that the land was acquired "illegally" i.e. that the land documents were not genuine, and this has happened on couple of other occasions here, but no one from the land office seems to get investigated for this??

Has the ASEAN chairman actually ever looked at the member countries????
Almost all of them are communist, autocratic or military dictatorships. So far for "principles of democracy".
In about half of them corruption and nepotism are institutionalized. And out the window flies "good governance".
Then we have those esteemed members who systematically persecute political opponents on trumped-up charges (Malaysia, Cambodia), or certain minorities (Myanmar, Indonesia).
Yet others wage a juristically highly questionable "war on drugs" (Philippines(), or imprison critics often for decades on the grounds of a law that seems to date straight from the dark ages (a member state with the initial "T"), and so on and so forth. So where exactly is this "protection of human rights"?
And as far as "fundamental freedoms" are concerned, may I perhaps hint at the fact that the media (including the internet) in almost all ASEAN states is tightly controlled and censored by the respective governments, with people risking prosecution if they access or disseminate certain news or content?
As observed elsewhere

What ever happened about that disastrous condo project in Patong near the hospital? Were any of the perspective buyers ever compensated, or did the monies invested simply disappear?
