They have in uneasy relationship with the truth at the best of times and that number of 29k cancelled already comes across as inordinately high to start with ..
I was surprised at all the TV veteran's that bought into that nonsense. Just the tourism minister firing back after his job became twice as hard.

1) Plentiful food, and modern sanitation probably did more to halt most of those diseases you listed than vaccination.
2) Vaccination may actually encourage mutation, as does foreign travel.
Had chickenpox, mumps and measles as a child (before vaccinations were available), they didn't hurt me. Only vaccinations I had were polio and whooping cough.
Forcing people not to overeat and exercise daily may be more effective than vaccination.
But, of course, isn't as profitable for the corporations that own everything and everyone.
I can't change your opinions as you live a life driven by fear.
I don't fear death, I certainly don't fear COVID.
You live in a rice paddy, unless you get pecked by a covid chicken then your right, you got nothing to fear

What nonsense no way tourism minister would know who showed interest and who didn't.
This is just politics to try and force the deal back to 7 days because that suit his tourism.
As if 60 k showed any interest
TV members will buy into anything!

Unfortunately the final details are not announced until the last week of June according to the sandbox face book page.

So that's 4 governors and they still scrambling last minute to open July 1st on a tiny little island!

Dry flights and no entertainment system due to not paying suppliers.
Avoid unless you have no choice

You comprehension is entirely unblemished ????
You will apparently have to pay for your 14-day SHA Plus accommodation in full prior to receiving your Certificate of Entry.
How they will establish that you are staying at your SHA Plus hotel isn't entirely certain. I have seen it mentioned that you will need to report your temperature at the hotel to health authorities every day. Presumably that will be using some electronic thermometer device like they have outside certain businesses. You will also need to download and use a location tracking app on your phone. The point being that they will have mechanisms to track where you are. Whether and how strictly this will be enforced is a matter of speculation. They don't care where you stay AFTER you payed 14 days. It's simply pumping $$$ into the travel industry.

LOL, been stuck in a uK bed and breakfast alone for 15 months drinking beer, 14 days would be a doddle !
That's tough but at least it's getting warmer there. Cost wise it's not going to be dramatically cheaper to go ASQ Bangkok or Pattaya. I did 14 days and it wasn't traumatic

Phuket will be ready, and it beats being stuck in ASQ-ALQ
They must re open, and then check the rates of cases per day.
I’m not saying it will work, or workers and bars will come back, BUT they must TRY to restart
then see what happens middle to end of July
I'm coming in july 8-9th
Problem is they are reopening via a model that shuts down entertainment venues. That's a completely flawed trial.

More like <deleted>box than sandbox. So just about the only thing to do will be sit on a beach or by the resort pool (if that's allowed). Will any day trips be running if there is little demand? Mayor said closed "for the first period of July" is that a few days or a few weeks? No definate opening dates given with less than 3 weeks to go until 1st July. Anyone here on TVF booked to travel there yet?
I'm ready to book but no way I'm sitting in my room drinking beer alone for 14 days . Will just continue to enjoy the freedom of where I am right now

Lots of sandboxes but not one single confirmation of anything. Phuket can't even decide who are low risk countries.

Amazing. Not long ago TVF experts were bashing Thailand and saying Vietnam was the best place on the Planet to move to...
How quickly things change...

Vietnam? Have you met any Aussies from Vietnamese descent? They have East Asian mentality, very little in common with Thailand or Cambodia. They value education and hard work, apparently they think allowing low class westerners to live there is not going to contribute much for their development. As they get richer those were going to drop out anyway, why the westerners don't retire in Singapore or South Korea? Because they can't afford it.
Just wow. The Vietnamese in Australia are huge mafia and drug gangs that were brutal in the extreme. Just Google it

It's got that French feel in the food, coffee and architecture than Thailand doesnt have. The street life is far more interesting and engrossing. The mountains and beaches are much better than Thailand, especially in Central and North.
Up until this year, the Government has very much been 'live and let live' when it comes to foreigners. You never see the overt Racism as you do on occasion in Thailand.
I love Thailand by the way and have lived there too. It's just a personal opinion that Vietnam is much more interesting and beautiful.
Thats not a very intellectual argument.
My biggest takeaway was 50 million motorbikes beeping the horn all at the same time without even a break
Good for you if you live on a mountain top but how long before the authorities find you?

4 minutes ago, Poet said:The so-called mass deportations are simply an ending of the pandemic concession that allowed many foreigners to stay far longer than usual.
They are also clearing up the mess of special visas sold by agents, including dodgy business and work permits via companies set up only for that purpose.
Stressful for the folks caught up in it but what did they expect?
The pandemic put everything on pause for a year or so, but this process was clearly underway long before the pandemic.
Don't get me wrong, I think Vietnam is terrific, better than Thailand, but sadly they are not interested in longterm guests.
Better than Thailand in what way? They despise westerners at a whole new level. It's just a 3rd world dump on par with Cambodia

Has the Phuket opening been pushed back to the 9th? I haven't seen that anywhere although I know about the change from 7 to 14 days.
I do wonder where they get these figures from. Not long ago there was talk of 10 million visitors and 6 million were coming from the UK alone.
This from a travel agent on the sandbox face book page.
