Its not such a big deal. 4,000 THB a month from Aetna.
Aetna? I found an other link where it was 12k baht for 180 days which is 6 months so 2000 THB per month. But could you give me a link to Aetna just in case?

But open to who? we dont want people coming here from countries where Covid is spiralling out of control, USA, UK and Europe!
They must have a certificate as proof that they arent infected before theyre allowed entrance so no reason to worry

Yes, get a negative covid test, buy insurance and quarantine, you can come to Thailand.
The link is a legitimate link of Thai insurance companies offering the insurance, its listed on embassy websites as where to buy insurance.
I tried to order the health insurance on that website you showed me, but it said this
“ For Special Tourist Visa (STV), a separate Health Insurance Policy is required. The limit sum insured for In-Patient is not less than THB 400,000 and for Out-Patient is not less than THB 40,000 ”
To apply the Online Health Policy, please click https://longstay.tgia.org
So i checked the longstay link, and found many insurance companies, but it doesnt seem like i can order online from them?

A little bit, but the OP has just out gunned you..
Thanks, I needed a laugh!
Just in case you're serious... That's probably the most dangerous time to be driving as drink driving is a massive problem here.
As is falling asleep at the wheel. You'd be amazed at how many bus, truck and mini van drivers fall asleep and crash.
Oh, and don't forget the random holes in the road that you can't see because this road doesn't have any lights.
And there's the drunk motorcyclist with no lights who magically jumps out at you, or the ones driving the wrong way because it's slightly quicker to avoid the U-turn a mere 500m away.
Upon reflection, you were probably correct in your original post ; It does sound like a video game that could be fun.
I guess your right about that thats why ive noticed that nobody listens to music when they drive. But all in all i think if you start driving in thailand as your first time driving a car, you would get used to it, and ive heard that thailand was gonna start improving the roads.
I was thinking about driving in pattaya at night, which should be easier than bangkok am i correct here? Last time i was in pattaya, there wasnt really that many cars at night

I would definitely not recommend driving here unless you are an experienced driver... not someone who is 'starting out'
Re-selling a car is tough business, especially as you are a foreigner with no (assuming) Thai language skills or knowledge about the culture. Thai people don't like to buy second (or third!) hand as it's easy enough to obtain car finance with a deposit.
I am aware of that, but i would only be driving at nights

There are new laws regarding Elite Visas, from january it will be 600k baht for a 5 year visa, and then just 400k for the 20 year extension visa that would make it a total of 1 million baht for 20 years of staying in thailand

Sorry, no.
I'm looking at a Mazda 2 for my daughter. I saw a 6 -year old one for 250,000 baht. this is a decent car and will not have monthly repair bills like an older one.
250k baht is a bit too expensive for me to buy, considering the fact that i can only stay in thailand 8 months a year. So if i were to buy a car it would be max for 100k. You talk about the older it is, the more repair costs it will have, since i dont know much about cars im thinking wether it has something to do with how many km it has driven, on the website one2car you can see the "mileage" of how much the car has driven, i assume the number shown on there is kilometers right? if so, isnt that what makes the difference and not how old the car is? How many kilometers do u think a car for 100k baht max should have driven before its a good deal? and how much should i expect in repair costs per month? i find this solution better to me than the risk of having to get a 250k baht car stolen when im not in thailand for 4 months, thanks

Benzene is hard to get these days. Gasohol is not good for old cars.
Compulsory insurance is next to nothing, that and tax is maybe 2000 baht a year. My insurance and tax are 15k a year.
Cars over 15 years break down a lot, maybe keep 1000 baht a month. I advise buy one at around 10 years old and you can sell it for not much less at 15 years old.
Do you have any websites besides one2car that i could look at? and thanks a lot for this vital information..

Not sure what you mean by "Plate".
Costs per month, that I quoted, are for payments. Insurance is about another 12k a year and maintenance probably the same, on average. So a total of 9.5k a month. That will obviously decline a great deal in 12 months when the car is paid for.
I am planning to buy a car myself, but only in the 60-100k baht range and was wondering how much the maintenance + insurance cost would be on such a car, 15years+ old. And 9.5k a month is with benzin included i assume since 12k a year for maintenance + insurance is 24k right?

Agreed - cars are very expensive in Thailand for what you get.
Op - have a look at one2car.com (within your price range: 50,000 to 100,000 baht / US$1640 - US$3280)
https://www.one2car.com/en/cars-for-sale?max_price=100000&min_price=50000
In all probability the car will spend a significant proportion of time in a garage and you’ll be paying more to fix it - you’ll end up getting owned by something you own.
Regarding saving money on a car: The variables are too many.
- Will you be able to keep it on the road.
- Will is break down and will you need to pay to have it towed and repaired.
IF you get a very good deal and buy a half decent car for about 500,000 baht you may be able to sell it for something similar 9 months later - but that a big IF.
Renting a car may be a good idea and will cost you about 15,000 baht per month for a reliable small vehicle.
Also beware of the pit-falls of rental, i.e. costs for any damage, scratches etc
Thanks a lot for this! ive seen some cars in the 60-100k baht range. I have some questions that i hope you could help me with
How much does insurance and licensing a plate on a car in that range going to cost per month?
If i am able to not go through any incidents, how much would i end up having to pay for normal repairs?
If i go through an incident will insurance cover it all or?
Thanks in advance

Your figures are well off the mark. Try again.
Teaching in Thailand for 20+ years. I never had more than 35k. I have a house with no mortgage, a nice car at 7.5k a month, my daughter attended a good government school (no fees). Last holiday in UK cost around 100k baht. 10k in Makro a month would feed the whole village.
Are you renting a nice car for 7.5k a month? if so please let me know where i can rent one for such price..

Yes, you could find a car for this price. Will it be good enough for traveling long and far? Probably not. Cars are not cheap here. If that's your budget for traveling you better go by public transportation
Im not looking to travel long and far, max 1-2hours per day or so just to drive for fun, how much do you think i can resell it for? and will this idea save me money in long term compared to renting a car?

There are many small local places that rent cars, but personally I would go for one of the big companies that have branches all over the place. It will still be cheaper than the difference between the price you'd buy and the price you'd sell the car
Is it possible to buy a car for 2k$? if so, how much can i resell it for if so? and would it be easy?

Best suggestion so far.
Being a tourist means you won't have much time to find any great deal on used cars, and same for selling it when you leave. Thailand is not like Australia/ New Zealand/ Europe where many backpackers buy cars for traveling and there's a market for that (well, used to be before covid).
If you rent a car on a monthly basis you won't have to worry about that and about parking it while away for few months.
I just heard many horror stories about renting a car. Do you know of any "rent a used car" companies that rents them cheap? and would this save me money on the longterm?

I doubt you’ll find a place to park it for ฿300/month as suggested above. Ibis Styles hotel across from the Sukhumvit 71 intersection had a sign up offering parking spots for ฿1,500/month about 6 months ago.
You’ll need a certificate of residency in order to get a license and also to transfer ownership of the vehicle so you might be better off just signing a 12 month lease on a condo with parking.
I wouldnt mind paying 1,500 baht per month tbh, is that offer normal? Also what if the car gets stolen and i have insurance, how would that work out? would they pay me insurance immediately or how does the process go?
Also certificate of residency is just the rent paper right?

Its gonna be a bit difficult to have a friend in thailand unless your refering to thais which i most likely wouldnt do. Is there any other opportunties such as i would pay the condo owner for letting it stay there?

Hi, how much does a full body hair laser removal cost in thailand approximately? and which clinics are known for being the best and cheapest?
Any experiences?

Hi, im planning to get a thai driver license from scratch when thailand reopens in january(hopefully) and i was planning to buy a car, i just have a question though.
With the tourist visa its only possible to stay in thailand in a 8-9 month period per year unless i take the flight to somewhere else and come back, but im not going to do that as i prefer to go vietnam for 3-4 months instead. So my question is. Where can i park my car in 4 months where i wont be in thailand? and is this even safe thing to do?
Thanks in advance
