  1. OH YES :o

Yeah my first trip to Thailand and Pattaya was Songkran last year. Heading back to Thailand next week but don't know if I should hit Pattaya before or after Songkran. My fellow farang there were pretty aggressive and nasty with the waterworks.

  2. All i know is was i had a great sonkran there last year they kept the yanks at sea extra 2 days and where else in the world can you soak a copper the day after he has given you a 400 baht motering fine i luv it :o

Yet all the "toughguy" euro football hooligans coincidentally disappeared (or hid rather) when the Yanks landed, eh? :D

  3. Both the Pattaya Haters and the Pattaya Lovers cannot be absolutely right so surely there's a better explanation that is more gray in color? Is it journalistic slant, probably in part. Is it reality based on individual experiences, absolutely and in every case. The reality I'm afraid is that there are probably more farang visitors to Pattaya than other single spot in Thailand and that draws the opportunistic elements of Thai society and generates the higher crime figures on a percentage basis.

There's no denying it I'm afraid, Pattaya is both a great place and a dangerous crap place based on how you handle your visit.

Its all perception, I have never really felt in danger in Pattaya. but I have to say, though its one of my favourite places in the world to let loose, I can only take Pattaya in small doses. I really have a lot of admiration for people that can live in Pattaya, party on & keep their marbles correctly aligned.

    Cheers,

    Soundman.

    Totally agree. :o

    Glue Sniffer Arrested in Boyztown

There are many glue inhaling addicts walking around Pattaya with a plastic bag containing glue to sniff to get ‘high’ on. On 27th March at 10 pm another was arrested by the Pattaya police.

Mr. Boontham aged 35, a shoe polisher was sniffing his bag of glue in Soi Pattaya Land 2. When he saw the police he threw the bag away and made a run to Soi PattayaLand 1.

A police volunteer was able to capture him in front of a jewelry shop and took him to the police station, but didn’t find anything illegal on the man so could only charge him for being addicted to glue sniffing and further proceedings will be made.

Speaking of which, are poppers/rush illegal in LoS?

  5. Why am I not surprised that the person fronting for the complainants hold US citizenship. :o

I have to agree that the complaint should also be laid against the developer of VT, and their own apartment block as they would have had knowledge of the development application at the time of the sale. They should also have a go at the officers that provided planning approval during construction, the companies supplying the cement, wire, telecommunications, and the som tam lady who fed the workers.

Now where are my shares in the Pattaya legal firms.

He's just one of, genius. :D

  6. "flat" is the perfectly adequate and self descriptive uk english word for an apartment , a living space on one storey , a condo unit.

"apartment" and "condominium unit" are just clumsy long winded americanisms used to describe what is in fact a "flat" .

    Hmmm..yes I understand.

I suppose in -mainland- Europe the word 'flat' was commonly used before people started to use the more upgraded word for the same as 'apartment'.

Basically it's the same but apartment sounds a bit mor chique... :o

I think the real estate agents started to use 'apartment' rather than flat. Apart from that, the word 'apartment' comes from the French word 'Apartement' which is commonly used in France and 'Apartamento' in Spain; maybe that's why the word 'apartment' is now more used in adds but in general people use both words in speaking language.

    LaoPo

Exactly, so get it straight and get a clue , Tax :D

  7. My buddy is a Chinese resident alien in the USA. THis kid is travelling out've of the USA for the first time in 16 years since he first came to the USA from Hong Kong. In this post-9/11 world, I'm sure he's going to have headaches coming back into the US, but my question here is is there any special visa requirements for a citizen from China to visit Thailand for less than 30 days or is it the same as with Americans with the pain-free 30 day visa/stamp? Any help would be appreciated.

  8. Last night about 10.30 I went to McDonalds on Sukhumvit for a late dinner after driving down from Bangkok, After waiting for 15 mins to get the food it was given to me without comment, when i asked for the server if he could possibly say thankyou, he responded with " I look your face, I see you in Pattaya, you are dead!" I thought that McDonalds had a stict code of conduct, Perhaps I was most offended when I called over the female manager, who looked at me and then walked away totally ignoring me.

I received a comment from my 10 year old in the back seat asking why they are so rude, I was absolutely speechless to answer.

I've been living in Pattaya & Bangkok for the last 8 years and accept most things as culture differences but this is riduculous.

If anyone knows the contact address of the head office of McDonalds, I would like to fill them in on this shocking experience.

For what it`s worth my input on this is as follows:-

1.The employee was wrong in saying what he said to the OP, probably young and stressed at the time (although I wish I had a 100 baht for everytime I have not been thanked in my life. I`d be on my yacht now and not posting on TV)

    2. It would be interesting to know exactly what the OP asked the `server` and what tone it was said in. It does not look as though we have the full verbal request here and what has the server to thank the OP for? This part loses me.

    3. In my opinion It is not the OP`s job to educate the `server` as to his manners this is down to the Management of the establishment.

    4. To the OP `get over it` and move on. By following this up you will only antagonise the situation further.

Yes the employee was wrong by saying what he did but making him lose face will not improve his manners.

I have eaten in Macdonalds and ordered food which I have had to wait for sometimes up to 5 minutes and sometimes queued for as long, I thought that this was part of the self sevice way of eating but why should the server thank me for waiting or paying? It`s the food I`m after and thank you or not would not spoil my meal :o

Bravo, Foxy. NYC is infamous for some of the most snappy & cocky characters in food service at places like Mc D's, Burger King, etc. It's pointless to try to teach etiquette to some young'n earning minimum wage who most likely doesn't give an F about losing his <deleted> job. We can't expect 5-star service, especially at a fastfood joint.

  9. niether one particularly good.

There is Blind Beggar, but once again nothing special and it's out off Beach Road, Jomtien somewhere. Soi Wat Boon, I think. Open from midday.

Blind Beggar? :cheesy:I'm sure the girls there are real lookers by the name of that joint!

  10. :o:D

Pattaya will continue to expand and will continue to improve it`s facilities.

Tammi you must always remember that Thailand is a developing country and it takes longer time to improve situations here.....................but isn`t that all part of the charm of the place?......that`s why we don`t go to Blackpool....we go to Pattaya. :D

There are far worse places in the world to be believe me :D

you can get anything you want in pattaya as long as pay for it :D

WHERE CAN I FIND GRAPE NUTS?

    At boyztown

  11. How can Thailand allow a criminal to come and live in their country? Dont they check if he has a criminal record, is a suspect or a fugitive? DOnt they have contact with the dutch government. Its really ridiculous cause he just came to Thailand to run away from his enemy and to have illegal business in THailand of his own. How can you let him in your country?

That's great. The guy is Dutch. He was a criminal in the Netherlands where, apparently, they couldn't manage to prevent him from committing crimes nor could they arrest & detain him. He left the Netherlands undetected and the Dutch seemingly hadn't a clue where he was.

BUT, surprise, surprise it's all the fault of Thailand. Another example of Eurotrash logic.

    I couldn't agree with you more. :o
