My suggestion would be to consider one of their "hybrid"  bikes if you are not planning a lot of off-road, to avoid wasting money on unnecessary suspension; if your area is flat, then you might not need the front derailleur gears.

I am going to take it off road and up the mountain a bit but mainly dirt track low land riding.  I'm pretty experienced rider, had some really nice bikes in the past, Schwinn Straight 8, Kona Kikapu etc.  Near where I live in the UK - in Macc forest we have some really decent purpose built trails and courses.  But not riden for a while and just fancied something cheap to get me back on the bike and get a bit of cardio going haha.

But the more I think about - the more I want to actually spend haha

You could take a look at Trinx, I got a X1 and it's the mutt's nuts. Magnesium alloy frame and Shimano Altus hardware, I paid about THB9k in 2018.

I'm fairly sure they have distributors across TH but I got mine from a shop opposite the Bang Saray turn-off on the Pattaya - Sattahip road.

They do look pretty nice to be fair!

  2. Afternoon one and all.

I'm after getting a cheap ish mountain bike for short bike rides around where I live.  Don't need anything serious, looking to spend 5000 baht.

There's load on Lazada, but there all brands I've never heard and I don't know what the quality would be like.  Brands like Maximus, Gorilla,

Any idea on these for example?

  3. Hi, thanks for the advice.  That sounds fun targeting Barracuda that way!

Actually after posting this I realised the local fish market would be a good place to get baits of all types, and tesco even does frozen mackerel and stuff.

I'm wanting to try long distance beach casting fishing over a sandy bottom off Lamai beach to see what I can pick up - if anything.

  4. Sorry for the late replies guys.  I've gonna get one from the UK I reckon and get it sent over.  Picked up a One X Gold Rush Limited Edition in the mean time off an older guy who bought it, opened it, closed the box and sold it haha.  8,000 baht and it was practically brand new, with an extra controller and two decent games which still had the plastic on etc.  Always been an Xbox fan.  I've had a PS4 and hardly used it.

Mostly I just want to wait for a proper Next-Gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 instead of a last-gen "enhanced" version.  Halo Infinite should be pretty cool - open world Halo.  I'm most excited for is a remaster of an older game - Mass Effect haha.  My favourite series of all time so really looking forward to playing that through.  But mostly I'm just looking forward to things like 60 FPS true 4K, much faster load times etc.  I'll get one soon

  5. I'm going home on the 6th August (UK) and returning to Thailand on the 3rd September.  I've bought a return ticket from Samui to UK and back again.  When I return it will be on a SETV and I'll have all my docs and money including flight out of Thailand.  Can anyone forsee any problems with a return ticket to Thailand?  Could they maybe think I'm planning ahead?  Or am I just over thinking things again. Thanks

So SETV - financial bit, what exactly do they want to see?

Maybe been answered already but I got to page 7 of 20 and gave up haha

If I made an appointment to get a new SETV from the Liverpool Consulate, could I skip all that you think?  It doesn't mention any of that on the website.

That's what I'll be doing in August then.  Only an hour on the train from Manchester and I enjoy going to Liverpool anyway so no biggie.  Will report how things went when the time comes.

  8. Hi guys,

So I'm already thinking about Tourist Visa No.3.

My plan is to go back to the UK August 7th to see out the end of summer with friends, have a few BBQ's, sit in the beer garden etc, and then come back to LOS around the 4th September for another 3 months (yes I know, a lot of that time will be wet haha) before coming back to UK for December and Xmas.

I will be applying for TV No.3 in London.  Already asked this question and confident I will get the new visa.  The big question is, do I fly straight back into BKK or go another route.

This will be my third entry on a TV this year.

What do people suggest?  I want to get flights booked asap.  Thanks again guys and girls.

  9. I've now got about 3000 myr cash on me.  I was going to change it to the Baht at the Travelex in KL airport.  Last night I was getting 20k baht for about 2650 myr.  Today its gone upto 2848 myr.

Should I just get it changed and have done with it or bring the Myr back to Thai and change it there - will I get more for my money or will it be difference of pocket change?

    Thanks - again! haha
