The whole purpose of the speech was to fuel hatred, and the military has one chip that they always throw into the pot to cement their legitimacy...loyalty to the monarchy.

I would think this is covered by the airlines or the travelers insurance nothing to do with police.
No vinyl boards to be seen, fake news!
I don't think that airlines are responsible (legally) for providing accommodations or meals if flight are delayed or cancelled due to natural disasters, and not everyone purchases travel insurance. I was stuck once in an airport in Mexico during a hurricane where all flights out were cancelled. The airline offered us nothing and we slept on the airport floor and bought our own meals. Their response was...we didn't cancel the flight, the airport did. My experience is that airlines don't have a heart and will only make good when it is clearly their fault.

Sex education is fine and whatever gets the message out can help, but there is a larger issue related to this and it should become a legal issue. I was looking at my young Thai niece's Facebook page (she's 12 and lives in a very rural area). I was shocked to see numerous pics of her friends, all about the same age as she is, with obviously older Thai guys. These guys all seem to be in their late teens or maybe older. I can imagine that it's not too hard for these guys to prey on girls 13, 14 with the I love you line, get them to have unprotected sex leading to pregnancy, and then whoosh...disappear without assuming any responsibility. Maybe the fear of being held accountable for your actions might help a little bit (being realistic just a wee bit) and some of them might actually put a condom on.

Hope they're right for once, but I'm not betting the farm. Been really hot in Hua Hin for the past week.

If you just need passport size photos you can get them at any of the Kodak centers in Hua Hin. There are 2 in the night market vicinity.

What the elderly in Thailand need is a social security system that doesn't put the burden of support on their children. Another archaic tradition that needs to go. Please don't tell me the monthly pittance they're given now counts as that. My son back home does not support me and he will never have to.

Police action is "pending"?

There are after-hours clubs already tucked away in all of the cities mentioned. Additionally, you can buy alcohol after bar closings in convenience stores, which results in a lot of street drinking. I would imagine monitoring bars would be easier.

So much negativity. While I don't particularly think this tactic will have much influence on sugar consumption it does point out a societal health problem, not just here in Thailand, but worldwide. I hope any extra tax revenue would go toward educating young people about the health dangers of excess sugar consumption.

I rented a condo for a year at one of the nicest condo buildings in Khao Takiab, Hua Hin. We were the only full time residents on our entire floor. During high season some units were rented to foreigners on holiday.

Military tourism sounds like a good idea. They can give rides in the tanks, just like elephant rides.

Everyone in my girlfriend's family (mama, papa, sisters and their husbands, aunts and uncles) have cars. Not a one of them has a license, and I doubt very much insurance. Quite glad about that, because some of them want to come for a "visit", but are afraid they might get pulled over at a highway checkpoint or get in an accident on the long drive.

Consulting with insurance companies on fair practices is like consulting with the fox on how to safeguard the chickens.

my understanding is that it is not legal to comment or express an opinion on a court verdict, is that accurate?
Not quite accurate. You can make a nice comment, or express a nice opinion on a court verdict.

I have a problem with the substance of the issue. With no disrespect meant toward His Majesty, a duly elected (cough, cough) official in a democratic election (cough, cough), in a democratic state (I have a really bad cough), needs to be appointed by a royal command? Endorsed with royal approval would be more palatable maybe.
