I did say before the debate that Bloomberg has the charisma of a wet paper bag, so not surprised he got a roasting. I am surprised no one in his campaign told him not to participate,

I'm hoping Warren gets the nomination. The debates would be awesome.

Is there going to be a Republican selection, or is Trump the candidate by default? Can't see a potential challenger getting much in the way of donations.

"Is there going to be a Republican selection, or is Trump the candidate by default?"....

Trump has 98% of the Republican base in his back pocket. Why would anyone be so insane as to challenge him? He was elected for what he said he'd do for the country and he's delivering on most. A booming economy, new trade deals in place with China, Mexico and Canada, lowest unemployment on record nearly across the board, the stock market at new highs, etc. What's not to like?

Too bad he can't be the Prez longer than 8 years.

Here, by the way, is the 80 private hospitals price results listing for the entry for Viagra 100 mg PER TABLET from Australia.  :cowboy:

Low 480 baht (after 1 presumably mistaken entry). High 1834 baht!

PS - I'm not vouching for the accuracy or currency of the info... just giving an example of the kinds of price variations their system is reporting.

100 MG!!!!??!?!?!? I hope you don't take the entire pill at once. I'd have a "stiffy" for a month if not longer if I took 100MG. I'd have to buy a few pair of REALLY baggy pants if I wanted to go out.

Really? Gold will never goto zero. A considerable number of my shares have and will NEVER get that money back. The gold here combined with 100kg of silver in Australia I am doing quite ok at the moment. Yes prices can drop but never to zero like some of my shares.

Sounds like you invested in some pretty poor companies. You should read a tad about Benjamin Graham and Warren Buffett. They never invest in companies headed to zero. I'd say that anyone who does better investing in gold than they can do in the stock market is a poor investor and does little to no research on the companies they buy shares in. If you had put your money in a good mutual fund you'd be FAR ahead of whatever you made on the gold.

I often laugh at people who say gold is not and investment. I bought shares in Australia as an investment and the companies failed and I lots all my so called investment.

Everything I read pointed to gold doing what its doing now and I have 38 baht thai gold (bars) at an average cost of 19967baht/baht. At the time of writing I could sell that gold for 23800baht/baht which gives me a total profit of 145,654 baht.

I will stick to my gold "non investment".

Low reward for a BIG risk. That's less than $5,000 US dollars in profit. TINY considering the risk. Gold is one of the worst investments a person can make. It doesn't grow. It just fluctuates based on the issues in the world. Invest in companies that GROW where you can triple your money or more rather than playing with gold that is range-bound.

  5. "will by the end of the month be able to easily compare prices for medical services for the first time."

For the "first time"????..... WHY do these things take so long to accomplish in Thailand? For goodness sakes Thailand TRY to keep up with the rest of the civilized world. It isn't all that hard. These types of incompetence are mind blowing. This type of thing makes me wonder why anyone in their right mind would choose to move/retire there.

    But I'm still here.....

You've lived a sheltered life. Apparently your "elsewhere" doesn't include Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Melbourne, London, Houston, Detroit, New York, most of the African continent, the Middle East or any larger city in the civilized world.

Ok, this is officially take the stupidity cake of this week after i read that Gwyneth Paltrow has made and selling a candle called 'This Smells Like My Vagina' for her website, Goop. And, of course, it has sold out... even Mr. Ripley himself would be flabbergasted...

If there really is a "stupidity cake" it's apparent that it's shipped everywhere and consumed by many in this world.

Since Ms. Paltrow is so successful with her new product I'll create a candle fashioned after my private parts which will be scentless as my "junk" doesn't smell. I'll let your imagination figure out what the shape of the candle will resemble.

I am not sure if taking a girl out of thailand is like taking a fish out of water is correct. We know several thai couple and as far as I can tell they all seem to thrive. for two of the couples the wife males more money than the Husband, One is a Hairdresser for the Hair cuttery and makes crazy money, the other got a job a seamstress at a parachute factory, and now runs the whole place, wants my wife to go work there, This little Thai  girl jumps out of planes!!! They are required to jump out of the plane with their product, I guess you do a real good job if you are required to use it on yourself LOL

Point made, Give Thai people a chance and they excel.  But that's not good for for me, I love Thailand , I want to be there.

"Give Thai people a chance and they excel"...….

The better way to say it is "give nearly anyone a chance and they will excel". Especially if they came from a poor background. I think your wife's story, in itself, is something folks wanting to move to Thailand should consider. Why do so many want to move to Thailand when so many there want to move to a better life in the west. I guess it's thinking the grass is greener on the other side. If folks in the west would handle their finances better and invest better during their working years there would be no reason to move overseas.

I have and have had accounts at other brokerages none of whom require paper to take an RMD distribution nowadays.  It's even worse than I described actually.  They require a notarized signature on certain documents, but specifically exclude both foreign notaries (no objection there), but they also explicitly exclude notarization by a US Consulate.  So, the effect is to execute such a transaction I would have to return to the US.  That is beyond unreasonable and Fidelity's motivation is to protect themselves at all costs even to the point of denying legitimate service to their clients.

I have had the account with Fidelity for more than forty years.  I would close the account, but doing so would require that notarization within the territorial US.  Actually, of course, the US Consulate in Bangkok is the territory of the US and I reminded the manager that the US State Dept issues passports.  At the moment I have an oral agreement from that manager to make an exception and accept the Consulate's notary in this case.  We'll see how that plays out.

I am quite happy with all the other US financial banks and brokers with whom I deal.  Is there something about having moved abroad that disqualifies you from criticizing any policy of any US financial institution?  If so, I missed that memo.

That sounds like a lot of work but Trump changed the rules related to RMD. You aren't required to take it until age 72 now. I'll assume you are older than that.

Good luck working thru the mess. I'm glad I don't have to deal with Fidelity but ultimately they are trying to protect you from fraud so you have to appreciate that part of it.

Fidelity is no end of annoying.  I called to make the RMDS for a couple of small Keogh accounts I still have with Fido.  CR said a signed paper form is required.  "But I live in Bangkok, Thailand," I said.  "Would I be coming to the US anytime soon," she asked.  I couldn't believe she could be that stupid.  I had to DHL the signed form to them.  For some reason Fido loves paper.

Don't blame them. They have rules in place to protect folks like you.  You should have checked into this sort of thing before moving. It's mostly your fault that you are so irritated by Fidelity's rules as you should have known them. If they are so annoying why did you have your money with them? Just another complaining ex-pat. Far too many of them already.

  11. "I'm spending all my money to get rid of Trump"...….. well if that is true Mr. Bloomberg will be broke by the end of the year and Trump will still be President. Then Michael will need to apply for all the social programs that Trump is slowly getting rid of. Michael will then end up living in L.A. on the streets with all the other homeless people. He might want to reconsider. It'll make a good movie tho.

My parents are in both in their 90's so I'm going to wait until 66.8.  As someone earlier stated, you take a beating if you live past 85.  I can live without it for a few years as I don't plan on dying anytime soon...

" As someone earlier stated, you take a beating if you live past 85"...… not so. It depends on how you plan. Besides you'll be spending a LOT less at age 85 and thereafter. Pretty much hanging out at home (or at the retirement center). Little to no travel. Fewer meals out. Adult diapers, oatmeal and prune juice aren't all that expensive. ????

"I don't plan on dying anytime soon"...… exactly how many people do yet it happens.
