I just explained to you how and why with an analogy. The plane being shot down was so easily avoidable. It was shot down because Iran was bombing a US military base in Iraq and Iran was on high alert. This is the kind of tragic mistakes that happen during (highly unnecessary) conflicts.
You explained nothing.
"The plane being shot down was so easily avoidable".... yes, by not taking off when bombs are dropping all around.
As I said before there is such a lack of common sense in the world.

The fish must have thought it would be getting brats along with the sour Kraut. Swam off when it realized that wasn't the case.

Imagine if a person walked up to someone's wife and hit her in the face. The husband then pulls out a gun, shoots the face hitter, but misses and kills and innocent person in the background.
Who's fault was it all? Shy doesn't Canada pressure the US more. I suppose it is all relayed to the US petro dollar. International opinion is always completely lopsided.
So you're comparing Trump's actions on a known terrorist who was involved in, and responsible for, much death to someone's innocent wife getting hit in the face. Incredible.
"Why doesn't Canada pressure the US more". Exactly how and why? The US did nothing to Canada in the attack. When missiles are being fired between two countries the best plan is to NOT FLY commercial craft in the area.
There is such a lack of common sense in the world.

Let me get this straight. Trump took out one of the nastiest people in the world who was responsible for countless death and suffering and you are blaming Trump because the "military" in Iran can't tell a passenger plane from a military aircraft? Really?
The only cretin in your argument is the one that was killed by the drone.

Six people showed up for dinner...I wanted to throw her and the entourage to the curb...but I went and paid...a seafood buffet...not too expensive...she saved face and I learned a valuable lesson...☺
"she saved face"...… but you came off looking like a fool. Once you saw the "entourage" you should have politely excused yourself to use the restroom and never returned.

here is some wake up call information for you
1. rich Thai girls do not go on dating sites to meet foreigners
2. rich Thai girls not only in no hurry to introduce foreigner from internet to their family but are also forbidden to do so
so to make it easier for you, you would be picking up the entire tab and rest assured they will not be eating or drinking small to save you any bucks or contribute to a massive bill to come .
enjoy your upcoming dinner
Yes, and most likely it won't be her family at the table but rather her friends, boyfriend, husband, pimp, etc.

Some points I've learned --
The majority of Americans take it at 62.
A significant percentage of them take it then for questionable reasons.
The best reasons are:
You need the money now. (No choice.)
You have a serious or terminal disease.
A bad reason is:
Worry the system won't be there when you need it (younger people excepted)
Keep in mind the "break even" age is adjusted to be totally fair to the system and the benefit receiver. It's about age 78. It's quite objective based on actuarial data.
If you live past 85 the early take decision will hurt you badly.
People tend to underestimate their longevity but obviously many overestimate it to.
If you take it early and work there will be a penalty if you make a certain amount until full retirement age.
There is no right and wrong answer for everyone. It is VERY personal.
"The best reasons are:
You need the money now. (No choice.)
You have a serious or terminal disease"...……..
You forgot the best of the best reasons. You saved well during your younger years and have planned a long time to be able to retire at age 62. Taking SS at age 62 even tho you don't need the money allows you to invest it or splurge on something for yourself or a loved one. I took it at age 62 and that combined with my company pension and dividend income gives me far more than I need. I currently live on about 50% of my income allowing me to save the other half. When a person turns 70 they are required to take a certain percentage from their IRA. At that point I'll be living on about 35% of my total income. I'll then begin gifting money to others. It's a comfortable position to be in and I'm grateful for it. It all comes down to planning but as you say there is no right or wrong answer. Some people need more. Some people cherish less in life. It indeed is very personal.

Another stunningly great reason to retire to Thailand. Can it get any better? First a person needs to deposit 800,000 baht into a Thai bank. Then they are now tracking people's every movement with the wonderful TM30. Also, there have been no credible decisions made on how to reduce the toxic air at the beginning of each year. Health insurance is now mandatory but outpriced for the coverage received. Now a person had to reduce their shower time.
What's next? A requirement to have a million baht life insurance policy with the Thai govt as the beneficiary as soon as you land at the airport? Probably will be ok if that happens as there will be few farang living here in a year or two.

"She had little exposure to foreigners".... how can you possibly know? Because she TOLD you?
"She and her family are managers, architects, historians, writers, the works. I think no-one has less than 100k Baht/mo, some certainly much more."..... how can you possibly know for sure? Because she TOLD you?
"By all accounts and more, the family seems totally decent and conservative/liberal to various degrees. No freeloaders. I've seen many photos.".... you can tell all this about the family without meeting them and just looking at a few photos provided by a woman you've never met face to face?
"So far she seemed also totally reliable, say in Skype appointments and promises to provide certain info etc."..... She SEEMS reliable? Is she or isn't she? You've never even seen her in person.
There are SO MANY things wrong with this whole situation. Good luck but don't expect it to turn out well.

What exactly has Congress done for the American people the past year? NOTHING!! This impeachment <deleted> is all about them and their insatiable hunger to gain back power. The voters know that so goodbye to the Democratic party. It's not the same party that many of us grew up with. Tip O'Neill is turning in his grave over this bunch of clowns.

I mean can you describe in some words how you meet and where?
She works? (A real job of course) How much she earns monthly?
Most of the ''problems'' you have read come from a meeting between a
westerner (Usualy in his 40' or 50, divorced, not really with a lot of ''sex appeal'')
with a confortable income
and a pretty thai girl or woman (Usualy in his 20' or 30', with few children to feed and
coming from a rural area with a poor family background) who doesn't have a job
(Or she has one but with a very low income and already a bunch of debts)
"and a pretty thai girl or woman (Usualy in his 20' or 30')"..... uh, err, umm, sounds like a ladyboy.

No, we were legally married in Bangkok in '97. Emigrated to the US. She, for her own reasons refused to seek naturalization. We also did not change her last name - things were different then and the possibility of her Not being legally able to purchase Thai land raised its ugly head. That was then, this is now. Past is Past. But, we did go through the formal USA spousal immigration petition - took about six months for approval and issue of I-551.
She legally resided and worked in the USA for twenty plus years so easily passes the "five year residency" criteria.
She did voluntarily surrender her I-551 and her LPR status. That is the correct and legal thing to do. We visit the USA for vacations, we reside in Thailand.
The question I have is when she files her application for her social security retirement benefits via the internet through the Manila Social Security Office, as a USA Non-resident Alien will she be approved or denied?
Secondary is that her spousal benefit will exceed her own record. According to the info I have researched this is automatically accounted for by the Social Security office.
"and the possibility of her Not being legally able to purchase Thai land".....
She was going to purchase Thailand? Step aside Jeff Bezos. I think we just found the REAL richest people in the world. ????

I don't know about 'saving face'; 'two faced' would be a more appropriate description for many.
"'two faced' would be a more appropriate description for many.".....
Many years ago at work I heard two guys having an argument. One guys said "there are two things I don't like about you... your face". It took a few seconds for his meaning to set in but I think it's one of the best quotes I ever heard.

Wait for a policeman to walk by and then jump up and down screaming at the top of your lungs "He's working here illegally" while pointing at the person. Seems like the most effective way to go about it. Then sit back and wait for someone to report you over something that is none of their business as you are doing.

Maybe it's not them but you and your friends. Are you in any way physically appealing to women? I mean seriously and not what YOU see in the mirror. Overweight in any way? Did you bath before going out? If you had money to spend then the only explanation to you and your friends being ignored is that the women weren't interested. The reason will remain a mystery.

don't you think it would be awkward ? they are buddhists, they don't understand Xmas spirit, they may think you are looking down on them and may feel offended
Xmas spirit and Christmas are two totally different things.
Xmas spirit has to do with the giving of gifts, having big parties where a lot of alcohol is involved, pushing other shoppers out of the way so you can get the things you want, etc.
Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. Unfortunately the gift giving and receiving is more celebrated than his birth these days.

I have always wondered WHY the banks can't have an OTP (one time password) sent via SMS for every ATM transaction, just like they do for internet banking transactions.
The "skimmer" would also have to steal your phone - highly unlikely.
Surely this would be easy to implement and would make skimming a thing of the past, virtually overnight.
Great idea except not everyone has their phone on them 24/7. The world is not made up of just millennials. Also, it might slow the ATM line down quite a bit if there is a technical disruption or outage that keeps the OTP from getting to you immediately. Also, being outside of your home country could cause connectivity issues.

Thanks for the Reply New Beginnings. Indeed I have been to Angkor Market, I'm lucky to live around the corner from there. My belief is that a lot of those imported products are coming from the U.S, and Australia as there is a large Khmer Diaspora in those countries, and I share your belief that there is quite a large variety of goods compared to the Thai "cookie cutter" selection. My comments were trying to convey a broader sense of goods sold here compared to what an expat in Thailand might be used to. I might have missed the mark on that. I do share your sentiments in regards to the French influence here, it feels so much more interesting than Thailand at times. Thanks for the info on the Bakery; I'll go have a look. BTW the best bakery I've ever been to in Southeast Asia is the French Bakery off of 26th street directly opposite Tevy's Place. Thanks for the reply New Beginnings.
Do many speak English there or communicating a challenge? Also, how easy is it work with the banks there? Is opening an account easy as well as transferring money in?

if the moto rider had time to 'honk', then he had time to brake /slow down / prepare to stop. he did not do this. inexperienced rider, should be held liable. no license = no lessons or test ?
obvious which party at fault. demand for compensation to me seems to be an attempt to save face on the part of the moto riders' family.
No proof of anything. Just the girls recollection. Without proof there is no case.

The Moto hit the bicycle.
The bicycle had turned right from left lane to go into the driveway. No other vehicle in sight when she started the turn. It is a very quiet country road.
The motorcycle came roaring up while she was still in the middle of the road. Honked but did not slow down, the girl was afraid to move forward or back when the moto honked not knowing what the moto would do so stayed still (seems sensible to me - enable the moto to gauge her position and go around her).
Moto despite having seen her did not slow down. Crashed right into her hitting broadside.
No witnesses though so we cannot prove she did not turn abruptly right in front of the moto (which still shouldn't have been in the center of the road I think).
I doubt anyone is much up for trying to wade through the minutiae of which vehicle was exactly where, though. I just thought there might be an automatic rule or cultural norm when it is motorcycle vs bicycle. There is in Cambodia, the moto is automatically at fault. Likewise car vs moto, the car is.
"the girl was afraid to move forward or back when the moto honked not knowing what the moto would do so stayed still (seems sensible to me - enable the moto to gauge her position and go around her)"...…. WHY would someone on a small bike FREEZE when a larger vehicle is bearing down on them blowing their horn? Most folks would get out of the way asap.
"No witnesses though so we cannot prove she did not turn abruptly right in front of the moto". Exactly the problem when taking someone's account of a situation. Noone wants to admit they were at fault.
"Moto was not driving in the left lane but rather near the center of the road."...… no proof of that.
