Imo it would be tactically naive for Starmer to call a vote of confidence. There is no chance of it succeeding and it might even bring the Tories together. Labour are better off letting the Tories devour itself.

There's a perfectly good reason why Johnson is labelled a liar. He is. One example: As you pointed out, he gave a job to someone who was a sexual groper. He denied that he knew about this individual's background which was a lie. Plenty more examples if needed.

Generalising, the Tories are in favour of Brexit, the Labour party have ruled out rejoining in the next parliament. The Lib Dems are unlikely to be the majority party after the next election, so there is little chance of anything happening until 2028 at the earliest. In reality, that is much too soon. My guess would be the mid-30s would be earliest possible date for the UK to formally rejoin the EU. Having said that, if any party other than the Tories wins the next election, I imagine that they will seek closer ties with the EU. Perhaps, rejoining the single market and Customs Union in everything but name?

I'm sure that there are no end of people who could have done better. I'm not a Tory or a MP which probably rules me out.

We've left the EU. It's a fact and the overwhelming majority of Remainers accept that - unfortunately - we won't be rejoining any time soon. The problem isn't Remainers accepting the result of the referendum, it's the Brexiters not knowing what to do with their victory. This despite continual reassurances during the referendum debate that 'We know what we're voting for'. Ok, fine. Go ahead and implement whatever "it" is and please stop blaming Remainers, the EU, Uncle Tom Cobbley for your inability (so far) to do so.

Despite all that's happened during his tenure, he's been lauded as being the man for the job for the past 2.5 years right up until 24 hours ago by some posters here. The country - outside of Islington - were supposedly solidly behind him. Malcontents were simply dismissed as Woke/ Lefty liberals/ anti-democratic/ Remainers, etc. What's changed? So he lied - yet again! - what's new? Johnson supporters were willing to overlook that character flaw for so long. Why all of a sudden has he gone from hero to zero in the eyes of the besotted?

Hat's off to the scientists who invented the vaccine. Roll-out was quite well managed. But let's not forget Johnson's cavalier attitude towards Covid before his own brush with death. Trouble on the island of Ireland after 20 years of peace. All time low relations with EU. Re-opening of the Scottish independence debate. England more divided than ever. UK economy in a complete mess. Most of this due to Brexit. Yep, great job.

As PM, May was flawed in many ways, but she was pragmatic and realised (somewhat belatedly) that alienating the country's biggest trading partner was an act of self-harm. She resigned because the unholy alliance of the anti-European, borderline xenophobic ERG and opportunistic factions (not mutually exclusive) within her own party brought her down. Expelling a former PM wouldn't have been a good look even by Tory party standards, although I'm sure that Rees-Mogg and his motley band would have welcomed it.

Absolute tosh. If the pound was over-valued prior to the referendum, then it had been for more than 15 years! The drop in the value of the pound following the referendum result was a quantifiable measure of the currency market's loss of confidence in the UK economy. A minority? Not now. Says a lot about the Tory party. Month after month of scandal ignored. Finally a couple of senior ministers re-find some semblance of integrity, and they are then followed by the self-centred opportunists (the majority) trying to save themselves.

So Johnson is the embodiment of a strong leader? No matter how poor the opposition is, they cannot possibly bring as much embarrassment to the country as this current government.

Shame is the operative word. To hang on - seemingly at all costs - when your ministerial colleagues are telling you to go. Shows what a self-centred opportunist Johnson is. Also a shame for Johnson. Just missed out on his half-century.

Hardly a sign of strong leadership given that Johnson appointed Gove in the first place. Slightly annoying but mainly embarrassing for Johnson, the Tory party and the UK. So far as I'm concerned, the longer Johnson embarrasses himself and the Tories the better: They both deserve it. Unfortunately, it's the embarrassment caused to the country that's the problem.

Some Tories have finally found their integrity. Better late than never I suppose.

There is no other side to see here. As @Candide points out, there is a fundamental difference between facts and opinion. Johnson attended parties at #10 - fact. Johnson should resign because he is not fit for office - opinion (based on fact). 'The regime in Kyiv committed genocide in the Donbas'. Where is the evidence to support this as being a fact? There is none. It is conjecture or opinion at best but, more likely, propaganda based on outright lies.
