Decide to leave our car at my brother’s house in Alabama and fly out of Birmingham AP. Got to check in at 06:00 am, gave the guy at the counter our US PP. He looks at me and says, no can do, you don’t have a visa for Thailand. I told him look a few pages over for a ME O. He then looked at the wife and stated you can’t go, don’t have a visa for Thailand. I informed him she was Thai and don’t need a Visa and showed him her Thai PP. Also said FYI, you can get a 30 day on arrival and don’t need a Visa (he had the Deer in headlight look). Never did that again, left the car with a good drinking buddy in Fl from then on.

Arrived in Atlanta two years ago from South Korea (old says, if you die and go to hell, you still have to go through Atlanta AP) and going through customs. I decided to be extra friendly to the customs guy. He hands me my customs form back and I move to the next lady. She takes my form and does the old left turn signal to the inspection counter. Now, we have like 40 minutes to make a ¼ mile run to the train, then over another ¼ mile to our gate to board to Florida, plus recheck our bags. I get to the counter and 4/5 Koreans or in front of me with 4 large cardboard boxes taped up. The lady cuts open the first box and starts pulling out all these plastic bags of plants and things, she goes off saying on hell no. Another guy opens another box and same thing. These boxes were full of al kind of mushrooms and things. The lady looks at me and asks, do you have anything to declare, I said nope. She stamped my form and I was on by way.

Bottom line, be polite and answer the question, nothing else. They are looking for anything out of the ordinary.

Never get behind a gang of Asians with boxes at SFO airport. They find all kinds of crap in there even live animals.

The questioning was pretty common until I got the US Global entry system authorization.

Two times I felt irritated was the guy who agent who thinks Taiwan and Thailand are the same and asked about prostitution or porn I don remember. My laptop was not searched. Another dude insisted I write the full street address of the mariott hotel right at the airport there I was going to and kicked me out of line and I did not have it or any way to research it. Just went to another line. As for the Thai Female IO'sbeing chatty lately I think maybe they like me.

  2. As my wonderful grandfather told me the day I turned 21, "There's two kinds of sex, sex for free and sex you pay for. The only real difference is free sex tends to cost a lot more." In the 40 years since, I don't think I've ever gotten truer advice.
Having said that, I pay my 'from-the-country' Thai GF 10,000/month, what she would earn working in the fields. She has a daughter and has to pay all the things associated with that. In return she cares for me like no woman in the West ever would. A fair deal I think....

Are you admitting nobody (attractive enough for you) would have sex with you if don’t pay her money, like this peasant with a daughter you give 10,000 Baht per month?

  3. Many decent women for the OP in Thailand will never ask for a satang.

Yes they will expect you to be the economic leader in the relationship if you have higher incomes, you're the man.

Doctors and nurses, university professors, engineers.  You won't meet them in a bar never, maybe take up a hobby.

They are not "hot" like the chicks in a go-go, and you won't have a huge age difference with her

Nor do they have tattoos, smoke cigarettes, or bad the typical bad habits.

  4. Somebody brought me a Otterbox from overseas I opened the package it was for the wrong kind of iPhone. This is like a $40-50 dollar product. No way to return it I tried to give it away to a phone case seller in Patpong market. Very suspicious kept asking why? Finally accepted it . No thanks given.

i don't understand why these young dudes want to come to Thailand for the ladies.

Some lack assertiveness have no relationship experience. I met one was a complete novice never been laid even in college.

The Thai boyfriend came to his room and stole all his stuff and he believed he had been burgled! He had met a real pro-girlfriend people warned him but he was cleaned out in months went home broke. Had to ask mummy for a ticket back to Toronto.

  6. It astounds me how people say they have the funds but don't want to leave 800k in a Thai bank account because it's a bad investment and then go on to moan about the fact that they now have to leave Thailand.

Let's say you're making an extra 6% (not easy in a risk free investment) on that 800k, that's  48k per year - is it really such a bad investment to pay 4k pm to live where you want to live?

It is all rubbish the don’t like/trust
Thai banks brigade can’t stump up the 800.

  7. A certificate of residence does not give you indefinite leave to remain. A certificate of residence is a document you get from immigration to buy a motorbike etc, nothing to do with being a Permanent Resident. PR status is indefinite stay, no visa, no 90 day reports.

Totally agree a legal residence implies some objective status. As it is anything short of PR you are only subject to Thai law as benefits some the national interest, not booted for any reason dreamed up by the police, a false accusation, puffing on the vape pen, “insults”, etc.

Of course if you get robbed by a ladyboy or get your wallet returned by a taxi driver they’ll let you appear at the police station either pointing for the camera or “wai” ing as appropriate. That is the extent of Alien protection under Thai law.

  8. The OP post is confusing or he appears confused. He claims to be a naturalized US citizen, "I did the mistake of applying for a US Visa on my Antigua passport".  Why go and do that? Department of State would never issue issue a visa for a citizen naturalized or otherwise. The Thailand Elite programs visa (PE) visa is just a 5 year multi entry tourist visa, not a legal residence. It does not even give permission for a 5 year driving license or condo Yellow book. Maybe here "legally" but anything other than PR or citizenship, any permit to stay held by a foreigner gives no rights of abode, or residence at all as one can be booted out for any small reason.

How are you going to re-new an Antiguan passport living in Asia for the rest of your life? Maybe you can look more at going to India as an NRI, and perhaps claiming residence or citizenship thru you ancestors? Lots of prejudice against Indians in Thailand.

juristic person at my condo (I am the owner of my unit I have a blue book of ownership) gave me a "letter of residency" and insists that this is good enough for Driver's license renewal. They emphatically state that I don't need to go to imm to get any other kind of "residency" cert.  I'm not sure I trust them. Please comment

My comment is if you have a Blue Book and you are not a Thai citizen it has only the previous owners name. Proof of nothing. Not sure if you can get by with a letter of residency from the jusistic person that is not a government document they may tell you to get a "proper" Certificate of Residence from Immigration of your Embassy/Consul.

  10. I didn't see any cockroach's in the detention room last Sunday when they denied me entry for having too many tourist visas.  But the requirement having to fly out via Airasia (the airline I used to fly from the Philippines) was annoying as I had very limited options as I arrived in Bangkok around midnight.  Paid 11,000 for a one way to Kuala Lumpur.  That was the worst part for me.  But I only had to share the detention room with 1 other I think from Singapore.

I’ll bet your DENIAL of entry stamp is for not having money (even if you did) as there is no law stating the max number of tourist visa entries. Thailand Elite program provides a tourist visa. No reports of their members denied for coming too many times.

They tried that one years ago and it failed.

Another try with a more modern immigration management system it will succeed.

Anyone doing back to back visa exempt or tourist visa, raises the question, "how are they supporting themselves". I would ask the question and I am not immigration. You are either independently wealthy at age 35, or doing something illegal.

Sorry this is quite uninformed. There are many good jobs that allow various rotation schedules. Start with oil workers, consultants (me) the list goes on and on. And not just elite technical occupations I know a quite young guy who is tree surgeon/arborist in Scotland after the leaves fall he spends all winter in Thailand with his girlfriend. Seen him coming for several years.
