When I read Americans express themself about politics I understand why Trumps fascism can win an election. It could never happen in any west-european country. What is consider left in USA is consider centrum/right in europe, and Trumps republicans are very close to what Europe would call fascism.

Thai PM Dismisses US Criticism of Move Forward Party Dissolution
Geir Rasch replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Of course Thais are sovereign to decide their own political path, but don't misuse the word and call it democracy! A system where people can vote and the same votes are ignored is not democratic! -
Dissolution of Move Forward disenfranchises 14 million Thais – US
Geir Rasch replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It's a saying that people get what they deserve. Average thais are politically ignorance, they know nothing about democracy. How else can you explain that poor thais give their votes to the elite parties or the criminal Thaksin? 14 millions gave their vote to MFP, but it should be considerably more. This is not because thais in general are stupid, but because the lack of education. The people are indoctrinated to beleive that without the king and military they are doomed. Typically, members of MFP are educated people with a higher political understanding than the average thai. Hope they are able to use the coming time to politically educate the people. -
Why are there so many farang lefties in Thailand
Geir Rasch replied to susanlea's topic in Political Soapbox
Yes, there was a fear of communists after the revolution I Russia in 1917, but real surveillance of them in western Europe took place after WWII with Russia as one of two superpowers. Before that communists only work for changes within their own country, but now some of them became spies for Russia, hence the surveillance. -

But there is a big difference between surveillance and arresting/killing people. And the surveillance you are referring to was part of the cold war, which started after wwII. -

Here is a lack of education. Hitler was for sure not a socialist, he was a national socialist, another word for fascism. Ask yourself why he did a manhunt on communists if he was a socialist. That would make no sense! -

Thai prisoner demands justice after fellow inmates raped him in jail
Geir Rasch replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
You can prevent it by building safer prisons with only one inmate per cell. Rape is not the only problem with today's prisons. Inmates should be rehabilitated. I cannot see how that is possible in such prisons. -

But that does not mean that the same people want to be a part of Russia! -
Thailand Refuses To Sign Document Of The Swiss 'Peace' Summit
Geir Rasch replied to Brewster67's topic in The War in Ukraine
Obviously. They probably are part of Putins hacker team. The best thing is to ignore them. They are poisoned with Putins propaganda, so you will never reach in, best to ignore them. Then may be they get bored and leave. They probably are russian refugees in Thailand to avoid enlisting to the war in Ukraine trying to appease Putin. -
EC Pushes for Move Forward Party Dissolution Amid Controversy
Geir Rasch replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Norway is also a constitutional monarchy and like Thailand have a lese-majeste law, but only the king can file cases, not unlike what MFP propose. This has never been a threat to the monarchy in Norway, can EC tell us why it will be a threat i Thailand? -
I moved to Thailand of two reasons: My wife is thai, and cost of living is much cheaper here than in my home country. So when I retired it was an obvious choise that we moved to Thailand. I don’t like politic in Thailand, and some times it make me regret the move, but you cannot use right or left to descirbe thai politicians. They have no ideologi, it is all about money and power. Political parties are not build around an ideologi, but around infuencial individuals. People change party all the time. Most of the politicians connected til military to day did work for Thaksin when he was in power.

If he stopped and not run away, I could consider manslaughter. I understand he didn’t intend to kill that cop, but since he try to avoid responsibility this is more than manslaughter in my mind. I’m not a judge, so I’m free to name it what I feel most suitable. -
Street Vendors in Bangkok Encouraged to Sign Up for Tax Registration

That is why you need to tax fortune, not only income. Heritage tax should also be considered. -
Street Vendors in Bangkok Encouraged to Sign Up for Tax Registration
Geir Rasch replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Business that prefer lock down before tax registration is not a sustainable business. My guess none of them would end up paying tax. A good society is a society where all people contribute by paying taxes (when income is high enough). -

Rich people will not be charged for murder in Thailand. Never the less, if you kill another person then you are a murderer. -

I know your kind exist, but I’m very happy none of you are in political power. If you exclude all the road only used by the owner, it is simply not true that over 60% of roads in Sweden are privately funded. -

When talking about country with a good welfare system, USA is one of the last countries I wold think of. Yes, Thailand is a corrupt country, but still I think everyone taking advantage of the country should also pay tax. -
New Tax Rules for Expats in Thailand Spark Concern
Geir Rasch replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
When you pay tax in Thailand you get a document saying how much you have declared for tax in Thailand. You use that document for your home country to avoid double tax.
