1. Supply and demand

You're right.
But its satisfying to see the thieving sods suffer now.

I used to live in samui a few years ago.
The locals are an uneducated rabble who look at foreigners with disdain. They feel entitled to RIP you off in exchange for allowing you the privilege of visiting their island..............sod them and their dirty little island.
I hear coconut monkeys will be banned soon so there's a few jobs going on the farms

Thats some chip in your shoulder, perhaps weighing you down so heavily because the UK is certainly no mongers paradise !!!!
The weather in the UK has been astonishing since April (although it is wet this week).
In this time while stuck in the UK (unable to get back to Thailand) I’ve enjoyed more BBQ’s and spent more time in the sun and enjoyed being outdoors than I do in Thailand.
He's missing his little tattooed, ignorant, som tum scoffing bar girl

It’s interesting to note . When covid started , all countries were closing down while Thailand remained open . Now that all countries start to open up, Thailand goes into opposite direction .
i wonder if it’s a case of Thainess or stupidity?
What's the difference?

168 posts is not a reliable indication of how long I have been here - I am surprised that you haven't worked that out yet!
The "crack" about Buddhist Lent has been told to me, several times by Thais over the years, not least by my wife, some 15 years ago, when she was explaining why her brother was not able to work on the farm that year! Perhaps not quite a tradition but certainly a fairly common comment.
The " if you don't like it go back to your own country" response is almost a tradition as well, although it is getting rather tired isn't it ? I live here, have done so for a considerable time, and God and the immigration services willing, intend to see out my days here. Rather like you perhaps?
Nice reply, you kept your cool with what appears to be another miserable git.
Well done sir, an intelligent response to a moronic comment

The guys are lazy and the girls have no morals.
Both worship money and will gladly do anything to get it.
Now the virus has upset their easy lifestyle and they're back in their village thinking a factory job with medical and welfare benefits ain't so bad.
Som num na losers

instead of saying 'thais' say 'people', this is not a thai phenomenon, people in countries all over the world let minor issues escalate into far more serious situations. people generally need to recognise when to take a step back and calm down
Yes, but we're in Thailand so we're commenting on the situation in this instance and in this country.

A real tax paying job at a basic rate doesn't sound so bad now, does it girls ? At least you'd get government assistance.
But no ! You ad your bone idle family would have rathered you prostitute yourself.
Bad luck, stop whining and suck it up.

Ban nose picking in public.
Before you know it you'll be addicted and a nose picker for life.

Been to patts. . . . The expat community is the most sad, pathetic bunch of individuals I've ever seen.
They are so proud if how little they pay the girls and know where all the best happy hours are.
Sad bunch of losers.
This guy is a classic example, picking up girls in the street and taking drugs.

The proposed ban was never going to happen.
It was a threat to get the breweries in line after prayut sent them a letter asking for the top 20 to chip in.
He got rebuffed so gave them a hint of what could happen.
Chip in or lose a hell of a lot more.

Google pulse-clinic ... they have their detailed lab tests with price information on website. Or Red Cross AIDS research centre ... also detailed info on website.
Go to any government hospital in Bangkok.
Take your passport and they'll register you.
The blood and urine test is done in the morning and results after lunch.
The doctors all speak enough English to communicate .
About 200 baht for the test

North Korea is a strange place. . . Big posters e everywhere depicting their leader who they cant speak about, nationalist music played twice a day, poor people with no support from the elite, indoctrinated masses who think they are the chosen ones, hatred of foreigners. . . I'd hate to live in a country like that.

I enjoy the food and the weather, the occasional fresh air and the countryside.
I like the relatively low rate of violence against strangers and feeling of safety.
But I didnt move here to immerse myself in their culture or interact with the locals. Nor am I on a mission to improve their lives or offer support.
I keep it that way and dont run into problems.

I am grateful to call Thailand my home, and since I am now stranded here for another month, and since I have a small pension and am not dependent on work, this inspires me to go out and do something. I have long considered the Thai people an extended group of neighbors and even family, and now is the time to express that gratitude.
Absolutely, because I'm sure they consider you as one of their own too and would be straight round if you needed help.
