My wife has invested in a few of them with different banks and they have shown no or very little growth over 6 years now and most of them are in negative territory. Would have been better to keep the capital in the bank and at least get the interest and have retained the capital.

Exactly the same thing with my wife's "investments". 

School fees 8 years in the future? In all seriousness expect them to triple. No safe investment for that. If you were back home your government would probably offer a savings account such as registered education savings plan when the government also pitches in. No such thing in Thailand as I'm aware.

I really hope Tim Hortons stays. I was surprised 2 years ago when they opened their branch near Canadian embassy and they seem to have expanded really fast. A bit too fast for my liking, but the one inside mitrtown seems to be always busy.

Believe you me they are helping each other and have probably found numerous loopholes. I wish I spoke Russian so I could find out.

I seriously doubt that many are struggling. Still see many posting on TikTok from Phuket flashing the cash.

Actually I could care less who's here for what. It irritates me to high heavens how so many are accusing Russians to be indifferent while they live among one of the most complicit and ignorant people on the planet while prostrating and forgiving crimes and murders to people in power.
