You want a top of the line then buy an S20+ ultra, end of research. That's 40k baht. The J4 was not a top of the line though, more a midrange phone. In that category phones run smoothly unless you are looking for top notch camera 4k video. Can look into A51-A71.

As a side note, Xiaomi just released the Redmi 9s at 5999 baht and that phone easily outperforms by a lot any pricier midrange Samsung

i believe that redmi is the 4 gb ram 64 gb rom model,

i found the 6 gb ram 128 gb rom on aliexpress for 7.4k baht /229 $

Greatly appreciate all the very helpful replies.

Seems important to concentrate upon Ram and Battery as essentials.

Whilst s20 ultra ticks the boxes the price range for this appears to be over-priced...

M31, A51, Note 9, are distinct possibilities, and how about:

    Samsung Note 10+?

its very good except the battery and price,

30k for just over 4000 mah battery.

are you going to play some very taxing games on the phone

to warrant the extra ram ? 6-8 gb ram is already future proof

to cover more updates and more apps for as long as

the battery life last, the phone is going to be ded weight at that point

anyway cause they are almost never replaceable these days.

unless you will use the phone for latest & future games, there is

not any reason to go above 8 gb ram.

much more impact will the battery have, especially

when the battery start showing the age, (the only thing that really age in the sense that it is decaying over time)

a much better balance for that massive cost is 8 gb ram 8000+ mah battery, that will ensure flawless function for as long as you keep it,

but truth to be told i am not aware of any phone that covers both weak links and comes with more then 6000 mah battery, plainly high end is not a good deal,

they shortchange on either ram or battery,

that will eventually be underwhelming and force you to buy another one before you intended to wield a fully functional phone

In the late 15th century Smallpox was perhaps the major cause of change in the American continent again killing millions. At very least this helped Europeans to fill the exposed large vacated areas and through the discovery of large mineral deposits it spurred the capitalism of today. We might have seen a very different world if that hadn't happened.

even more importantly, it led to the discovery of cocaine  and cigars,

i dare not think of what life on earth would have become without

The fact you held on to your J-7 for 4+ years shows you not the type to go out every year and buy the latest hot models.  You buy and hold.

As others have mentioned, a 5G boom is just around the corner and by this time next year, will be in full swing.  The cost of excellent 5 G phones will drop and many new features will arrive.    I suggest you consider a decent but inexpensive "bridge phone for the next year or so, something in the B5000 +- range in which there are many excellent phones.  Make the big, top of the line purchase once 5G is in full swing, then you'll have a phone that you can hold on to for another 4 or 5 years.

what use will i have of 5g ?

Natural light is one thing. 40 degree intense sunlight is another thing entirely. In VT5, temps on the South side of the building are as much as 5 degrees hotter than on the North side in mid-afternoon.

thats our sun we love, either we have it or we dont,

earth simply dont warp space enough for light to make curves and hit from both sides

True.  If you get high enough on the north side and towards the back of the building, you can see some of the ocean and the coast.  But, you still have Hilton blocking a lot of the view and there is noise from the big air handlers at Central Festival.

i went there many times and that was not the case,

i saw the entire bay and ws.

that high up everything was silent, i have never seen a condo  i want more,

in fact its the only condo i want

The other side of the building is on the "Sunny" side and will require extensive shading to prevent bright sun streaming into the unit. AC electricity costs very high.

...and here i thought large windows bringing in natural light was popular, silly me

Anywho maybe an Energizer phone pushes your battery size buttons then !!

    Energizer power-max-p18k

lol, ok, i have the hang of the size now.

anyway i wont bring a battery pack when i could have gotten ulefone power 5 13000 mah,

bigger then both a standard phone plus a battery pack combined,

if only i hadnt had so much bad luck, rotten google skills, and a tiny window

of opportunity to get a phone asap

I highly recommend the Samsung Note 9.

Very large screen and the best phone I ever owned.

You can pick one up from one of the many second hand phone dealers that is as good as new for 15000 Baht.

its a good camera & pics storage if youre into that, but still measly 4000 mah,

i feel its not worth bringing a phone with me in the first instance

if its just going to be ded anyway if and when i need it,

and selfies doesnt make up for it

What is brilliant about a sexist ad  emphasizing violence against women and  the use of women as cheap sexual objects?  The take away is that the building will be populated by violent people, and hookers and will cater to a criminal type of demographic. If I am putting out big money for a home, I want something secure, peaceful, clean and that has people who will be upscale, not drunks bringing home Ping Pang for some Bing Bang.

The two sales agents are in cheap ill fitting polyester blend tout shop suits. Why would anyone  want to do business with the monobrow twins?

Sorry to say, this ad seems targeted at elderly sexpats. It is not something that will  attract quality younger people, particularly  beautiful women. After all, what normal  woman wants to be pestered by a dirty old man? This really plays to the stereotype of pattaya

no, the take away is that when asked what she could see, so as to pinpoint her location,

she went on with advertisement in a brilliant way:

"i see a landscaped garden, 360 degree view pool, cctv, etc etc, freaking brilliant advertisement

The NVMe SSD option is good, but involves you removing and replacing seventeen screws.

SATA 2.5" virtually as good if you don't want to mess around with removing the bottom cover in full.

Best to not transfer the OS and accompanying ACER Bloatware, but to simply run a clean install of Windows 10 to the newly fitted SSD.

Unlike RAM, an SSD stores your data long term. SSD is just a solid state replaced for the old magnetic spinning disk HDD. They are barely fit for purpose in this day and age. As you note, it is dragging the performance of your laptop back to the Stone Age. SSD allows your laptop to perform as it should.

Fitting an SSD will bring a far more noticeable difference than fitting more RAM.

one final problem, this laptop came with win10, i dont have a dvd and in fact this machine dont even have dvd, so tha would mean i have to buy another win10 right ?

Thank you so much for the replies above.

I think I did not exactly make myself clear.

I have a Galaxy J7 phone (purchased in Thailand) but it is now not working well, so I want to but a new top of the range Samsung phone.

Which one can you recommend and why?

    Many thanks.

according to this site, what you have is 2 gb worth of ram & 3000 mah battery,

i.e rotten to the core https://www.techmoblog.com/spec/Samsung-Galaxy-J7/

i view 6 GB worth of RAM & 5000 mAh battery basic, oppo a9 got 8 gb 5000 mah for 6.7k bht,

    m30s got 6 gb 6000 mah for 7.5k bht,

ulefone power 5 got 6 gb ram 13000 mah for 6.5k bht, that means 2 weeks without charge,

but you need to read the site so they dont shortchange you with a 6500 mah battery.

you only need to look at ram & battery to know if its going to function properly,

there is not much relation between price and hardware,

except for the cheapest of the cheap that invariably comes with neither sufficient

    ram nor battery.

the cheapest that still impresses is moto 7 power with 5000 mah for 5k bht,

you wont get a decent battery for less that last until the gogo closes

The storage device change-over happened a long time ago, driven first by portable music players like the apple iPod going from physical hard disk to fast flash memory, and continued to grow with Smart Phones. Many premium smart phones now come with 6GB RAM, 128GB STORAGE (fast non-volitile Flash Memory).

The same Flash Memory technology is used by computer SSD storage devices, just packaged as (for now) replaceable modules. Some even emulate 2.5 SATA HDDs in pin-out and socket requirements, though the faster devices are m.2 PCI modules.

oh ! now i get it ! i havnt fiddle with puters since the days of win98,

now it finally makes full sense

it used to be that a ssd was made up of a magnetic disk,

then equal storage of ram was glued to that disk

and when booting up the data on the magnetic disk

was duplicated to the ram glued to it, removing the need to read data from a mechanical devise,

    is ssd today different ?

    Huh?

Your laptop can accept two storage drives at the same time. Currently, it has a 2.5" 5400 RPM HDD. The slowest possible option.

If you click through the link that I supplied, you can see where the 2.5" HDD sits. In the pic it is already empty. You do not have to remove the whole back cover to gain access to the 2.5"HDD.

So the swap from a 2.5" HDD to a 2.5" SSD can be done fairly swiftly. Perhaps 5 minutes. The capacity of the replacement is up to you. You don't need to replace with a drive of the same capacity.

A clean install of Windows 10 to the aforementioned SSD will eliminate all of your current issues.

Alternatively, you can leave your original HDD in place, but remove the bottom cover(seventeen screws) in order to fit an additional storage drive, an NVMe SSD. Up to 256 GB I guess. Super fast. That way you'll have Window 10 on the new NVMe drive for day to day usage. Keeping the internal 1 TB HDD for storage of larger files should as your video collection.

    https://www.advice.co.th/product/solid-state-drive-ssd-/ssd-m-2-pcie-nvme-256-gb/256-gb-ssd-m-2-pcie-adata-sx8200-pro-asx8200pnp-256gt-c-nvme

the last alternative sounds terrific if there is actually a free slot at 2k baht,

i presume win10 has some inbuilt function to transfer OS to the new drive ?

but, i cant believe it can be stored in ram, how do that ssd store data long term without

    an actual hdd ?

You are not listening(not unusual for this board). Forget about RAM, you need a solid state drive.

Upgrading RAM was the option before SSD were ubiquitous.

Now first step should be SSD, second step, RAM.

    https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/537125/install-m2-ssd-on-aspire-5-a515-51g/p1

    NVMe PCIe SSD.

You'll be very impressed with the difference from the standard very slow HDD you have currently installed.

If you cannot be bothered to remove the bottom cover, just fit a 2.5" SATA SSD in the dedicated slot. Will be just as fast as the NVMe PCIe SSD under most circumstances.

i am confused ? it used to be that a ssd was a physical drive and then added

the same amount of ram attached to the drive so that once it was booted up,

it was a fast duplicate that was the source.

this looks like just an interface working as the swap file, clever i admit, and whopping cheap at <3000 bht

my internal drive is 1 tb, is it still compatible with a 250 gb ssd interface ?

also what product is the 2'5 sata ssd and where is that dedicated slot ?
