  1. Went to immigration twice for 90 day on a new passport and I had'nt left the country. I asked both times about doing it online, the first time the IO typed my new number and said I could now do it online. It did'nt work. The second time I was told I need to leave the country. Anyway before my next report was due, I had read that new passports were working in some cases so I tried just incase. Chrome and Firefox didn't work and was about to give up and gave Edge a go as a last resort and it worked. Done 2 online now and will try for the third time in a couple of days.

Those who need a work permit (meaning their income is sourced from Thailand) are not "digital nomads", they can register BOI-approved company and get a Non-B visa. Giving WPs to sole proprietors would conflict with the idea of "foreigners taking jobs from Thais".

Don't want to start a company and employ people I don't want or need just to get a work permit. I can get work from overseas, so wouldnt be taking anyones job. Also, I am on a marriage visa, so eligible for a work permit if I want to go back to a Thai company, which I don't.

    There is logic though.

Thailand is less concerned with income tax than it is the creation of domestic industry and investment and knowledge transfer. This is why the need to incorporate, have a registered office, employ and train thais etc has always been a large part of the requirements to enable the legal engagement per non Thai employee..

It is loosening up, the BOI and smart visas etc have much less of this but that is the historical nature of the system.

I still dont really see the logic. I dont want to start a company and wasted lots of time trying to pass knowledge in 9 years at my previous job here. Out of the many people i tried to share my knowledge with, i only ever had 2 that really wanted to learn. Now it would be nice just to make some extra money for wife and myself and i could get plenty of international customers so i wouldnt even be taking anyone heres money and happy to pay taxes. When i gave up my job here i changed visa to marriage and had to state the reason "to support my thai wife". How can i do that without entering back into their nightmare management system where no one ever listens?

He does smoke a lot of weed. That's probably what it was.

I saw him talking to joe rogan(i think) quite recently. He said hes not smoking or doing any psychedelics because , something along the lines of ... serious about the fight and puts him in the wrong frame of mind. He said he was really missing the pot though. I feel ya Mike i'm missing it too.
