Maybe they haven't realised the rest of the world is skint also long haul destinations will be off the list for a while, I get the feeling British people will be holidaying at home and a lot depends on the cost of flights

My guess flights will be cheap for 6 months and then look out.

AOT’s management team forecasts that in fiscal year 2020 (October 2019 to September 2020) Thai airports will see about 493,800 flights and about 66.58 million passengers.

I think 250,000 flights (including the approximately 175,000 flights we saw already this fiscal year, and 25 million arrivals (of course that includes transit flights) so, in reality about 18 million tourists in fiscal 2020. It is going to take alot more than announcing "Thailand is open for business again" to bring people back here. A percentage of Chinese will return, though the numbers will be far lower than before, considering that they were the first nation to be put on the banned list, and also the fact that the average Chinese person, like the average person around the world, will be alot poorer after this insane economic shutdown is over. I would expect it will take at least a year or two, or perhaps longer, for things to return to "normal", and even then, the numbers will likely never return to the old levels for countless reasons.

Taking into account how much the Chinese spend in the street on there hols and the economic impact they  are also suffering i wouldn't if i was a business owner here order my new car anytime soon

It’s a possibility providing that they drop there stupid insistence that people have to have $100,000 virus insurance plus a letter issued no more than 72 hours before the flight confirming they are Corona Free even Thais overseas are struggling to get such letters. I am in Thailand whilst my wife is now stuck in the U.K. having gone back to visit our newborn grandson her return flight was cancelled.

Quarantine on arrival  is the answer a medical check before being allowed entry unless we want a strain here that for certain could not be contained, assuming there are no errors in reporting Thai's can think themselves fortunate so far, but second rate test kits health cert purchased on line or 200 baht in the top pocket could spell economic catastrophe if an outbreak took hold here.

Speedos lie all the time.  There's no telling what mechanical forces were at play when that many G's are encountered.

If I had a dispute, I'd pull the microSD card out of my GPS enabled dash cam and it would tell me where I'd been, how fast I was going and play back a 1080P video of what I was looking at for the last 20 hours of driving.  I paid about $100 for it after I read some horror stories about locals and foreigners paying out the wazoo for causing accidents they didn't cause.

Never used it as evidence, but it did record some fun times, like driving through a herd of buffalo on a road in the middle of nowhere.

Yep i agree dash cam the way to go, whilst waiting to make a right turn with traffic waiting behind me on a single carriageway  a gap appears a cursory  look in both  wing mirrors ( retired  coach driver habit) and off we go, BANG crash wallop a motorbike made a broadside contact and he is sat in a heap 25 metres up the road his wave with its coloured wheels etc is under the truck, of the 4 cars waiting patiently behind me none bothered to stop  so no witnesses and the mess 25 metres up the road told the police i just turned in front of him with no warning, we waited for the insurance man to appear and i gave him the dash cam  after the Mrs had told him what happened and what had been told to the Police who i should say were most professional, the  lad  went off with his broken leg and a couple of tarmac rashes still pleading his case, off we all go to the police station and all was revealed on the dash cam,  front rear and audible of indicator ( inc the Mrs grizzling that she needed a pee).

All ended well the Mrs shot behind a bush i was clear of any blame but broken leg youth was left with the task of explaining, no licence, no insurance, not his bike and of course wasting Police time.

The morale of this little essay is 5 star insurance and a dash cam because you cant rely on a witness to help you they are all to busy to stop.

Would it be possible that upon the crash the impact move the speedo to 160km/h when pickup was actually traveling at lesser speed before crash? Just wondering, maybe someone with expertise can enlighten pls?

Highly probable as the damage at 160 plus the weight of the fish would have obliterated everything but things here are never as they seem !

  7. How can the head of the KK chamber of trade state that no businesses have closed down, they have  all closed down, will they all reopen i fear not, trade for many has been depressed  for the past 12 months the baht not helping so this lockdown has come at a time when cash reserves are low and with rents to pay the business becomes untenable but closures wont be known for many months.

Will the chamber of trade be giving guidance to enable all businesses to reopen with safety protocols in place or will guidance be given to selected few.  ( a bit if a head start)
