Interesting stuff. Or how long they should continue to wear one. A disposable mask lasts 1 day max. -
Health Covid Cases Spike in Thailand: 28,000 New Cases in Just Two Days
potless replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I saw a program on Channel News Asia a couple of years back. The presenter went to a lab to test the effectiveness of wearing a mask. It was shown that without a mask, a sneeze or cough would expel droplets around 6 to 8 feet. With a mask on, the droplets were confined to around one foot. It has always been my honest opinion that the main purpose of wearing a mask is to reduce the chance of spreading a virus to someone else as opposed to preventing an individual from catching the virus from someone else. That program was just a general investigation and covid wasnt mentioned at all. -
I see that there are a few different views about what the TRD intentions are. The above quote says "for example". My (hopeful) take on this is that it would be an ongoing thing. Thus money earned in subsequent years would be subject to the same criteria. EG money earned in 2028 would be tax free if remitted in the same year or 2029. Fingers crossed.

Bangkok Hospital Pattaya has been advertising MOHS on their website recently.

Is that from CNN, MSDNC or direct from Victoria Nuland? I'm not a big fan of Oliver Stone as a documentarian but watch his 2016 movie "Ukraine on Fire". Don't watch it for his analysis. Watch it for the historical facts he presents. This kerfuffle didn't start in 2022 or 2014. It was decades in the making. I agree with you. I havent seen the movie you mention. However, a book caught my eye in the Asia Books store in Pattaya. It is called "Overreach" and written by Owen Matthews. The book got good reviews and reveals a lot of historical events that have led up to the current situation. I havent read it all yet, it takes some digesting, but some may be interested in getting insight on the political skullduggery that has occurred in Ukraine, and the former USSR and its components. 522 baht.

Wallets are easy too easy to steal without the owner realising. I never use one. -

Tops supermarket, Central Festival Pattaya yesterday. Square tiramisu cake over 600 baht. A single portion, quite clearly a quarter of the large one, 135 baht. 135 x4 = 540. Head scratcher.

I agree. It may also be that some of the more established members of old look at the forum but dont actually log in. Perhaps fed up with the abuse or being unintentionally sucked into arguments. Lots of amusing stuff posted on the Worst Joke thread.

Future Uncertain for Retiree Bank Accounts in Thailand

Banks want businesses to churn all income through bank accounts in order to charge more fees. Not disagreeing with your example. -
Future Uncertain for Retiree Bank Accounts in Thailand

Totally agree. My view is that if both the banks and governments want cashless, ultimately, it cannot be good for the individual. -
Football commentators. They have a seemingly endless stream of mind numbing statistical trivia that no one anywhere would ever need to know. Then a team of several pundits giving a half time/full time "analysis" of the game. We know what happened in the game and why. We just watched it.

Thailand May Ease Overseas Income Tax Rules Amid Global Changes
potless replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I personally know a man who has been working here for around a decade. His income in Thailand, even taking into account his personal allowances, means he has to pay tax. However, he has also been receiving an income from overseas, all remitted in the same year as acquired, that has never been declared. He would be in a whole world of pain if audited, please God he wont. I know some posters will say that the likelihood of that happening is remote, but that is neither here nor there. I am just responding to your valid point however likely or unlikely he gets rumbled. -
