If the name change has chased off some of the serial (Thai specific) wingers,
then im all for it.
I do notice one guy who used to moan daily about the government, PM,
brown paper bags, etc seems to have gone quiet.
Maybe he did finally leave.

yeah right, they never do????

The major threat will come from the Thousands ( 470+ K ) Foreign workers that Thailand is proposing are allowed to renter the Country due to a massive labour shortage in all kinds of Industrial Sectors from Food, to Farming to Construction.
Who will Police the movements of these Workers once they are in the Country, and that will just be the legal ones that entered.
The flood gates will be opened wide again for illegal entry, and Thailand has proved time and again, that they are not capable of sealing their porous Borders.
Along with these legal and illegal workers will come many who are unvaccinated, and possibly infected
A disaster waiting to start me thinks, and wave 4 of the virus will soon start.
In that case there is a quite simple fix.
Keep the land borders shut and only allow foriegn entry from international flights.
Of course it will not happen though,
as rich, greedy Thai industry will say they are pushing for tourists, but really just want slave labour Burmese to make them that much richer.
Its not just Thailand either.
The most paranoid country on earth, Australia, will not even allow there OWN citizens back in the country unhindered, yet are now considering special visas for cheap migrant labour to help greedy industries bottom line.
Disgusting.

Given that Covid-19 is now endemic in Thailand and unlikely to be wiped out, Foreign arrivals just need a simple Vaccination/test regime - fully vaccinated, PCR test/lateral flow test 3 days before departure, lateral flow test on arrival. Maybe another lateral flow 7 days later. Minimal disruption to holiday/life.
Dont forget the BS health insurance.
Most likely a seperate policy for Covid, and both having to be Thai companies.
Many tourists will already have their own home policies paid for, therefor another 2 lots of corrupt, useless, waste of money scams will be forced on them.

Some pretty big projects there showing continued confidence that tourists will return once things resume to normal.
When is your bet that things are going to return to normal?
Call me crazy, but i cant imagine why anyone in their right mind would invest in a property that could possibly sit 80% vacant for another 1-2 years.

What about the people who don't want to leave?
The convo is about attracting tourists to Thailand.
In this case, im talking flights from Sydney to Bangkok, but Australians are not allowed to leave Australia anyway.
Not sure what you are getting at?
The easy answer is, anyone who doesnt want to leave can stay where they are.

What would be the point of doing Bangkok to Sydney?
As i understand Australians wont be permitted to leave the country for some time.

Word around Isaan is that he is coming back to lead them out of Covid.
So no doubt hes been fast at it making more empty promises.
I just can fathom how/why those folk keep believing him

Well, to put it simply, it looks like they will never open the borders under this current government,
as the are aiming for zero Covid and/or over 70% of the public vaccinated.
both of which will never happen.

If you are sick of nonsense, then dont come to Australia.
At least Thailand is actually fighting an enemy.
We have the most draconian restrictions on earth, the most paranoid of politicians, all for a handful of cases and even fewer deaths for the whole year.

it will not mattar at all for the covid situation as the infections are spread
locally by the natives.
just open all borders for any tourist with vaccine and PCR test, and swallow the
national pride and "ai farang" attitude.
at least the economy will be spared.
Its not as nutty as it sounds.
Places like Myanmar will be heading for herd immunity the hard way.
Other places like U.K and U.S.A will simply go back to normal between the numbers vaccinated + the already infected.
Either way, they will probably end up with some form of herd immunity.
Other folks will eventually get absolutely jack of all this and take things into their own hands.
Florida, with one/third of the population of Thailand are again pulling in similar daily infections, at 15-20k.
Its clear they won't let this stop them from living.
When a larger portion of the worlds healthy people
(who probably number around 90%) get sick of having no life, and decide to actually live again, there will not be a lot the governments and politicians can do.
The scared will just have to stay indoors while everyone else lives life with Covid.

No no no, dozens of posters were clear that the numbers were fake. Just curious to hear from one of them why things have changed, why we aren't still lying and saying it's fine.
There will be droves of them here soon,
stating that Covid has got so far out of hand that the Thai authorities couldn't possibly hide it any longer????

Yes, Imagine if they faced a "real army"..................like the Taliban or the Viet Cong , they would probably have to disappear under the cover of darkness , no match for a proper army.....................these Thais ????
Thailand vs. Taliban or Viet Cong?
thats a bit like putting Manny Pacman up against Tyson Fury.
As far as dissapearing under darkness goes maybe Thailand vs. The French would be a fairer match ????

Indeed. My MIL hated me so it was not the best atmosphere to be living in. Add a ratbag nephew to the mix and it was quite toxic.
In the end the only solution was to leave.
Let me guess..
The MIL usually hates you because you
"give to little".
The ratbag nephew, continually asks for money which you know will be spent on YaBa, hence your answer .... off.
Been there done that myself.
If you are in Isaan I doubt the circumstances ever change much.

About time they put in some common sense and open up everything.
Afraid of the virus? Stay home and let normal people have fun.
Just toss some VAX and/or ivermectin to the Thais to make them feel better. VAX "worked" in US and ivermectin worked in India. Odd that the death rate is pretty much identical between every country and they all did different things.
The asymptomatic pandemic needs to end sometime. Money is drying up for those who control everything.
"Money is drying up for those who control everything"
If its like that in Thailand, then i call it Thailand's good luck.
Just about everywhere else, those who control everything must be making an absolute killing.
That would be why (in certain places) they do not want it to end any time soon, and are doing everything they possibly can towards that cause.

What long wait ?.
I have friends (family of 5) decided late last month to pack up go back home to Aus... They qrrived home on Wednesday.
We have been told the weekly capped numbers of Aussies allowed back in Australia has recently been halved.
There are apparently 40k waiting to get back in, if you believe that, although its strange they have been quoting that same figure for some time now.
Exactly how long the wait is to get into a quarantine hotel is, i dont know.
I guess it also depends on arranging a flight to coincide at the right time.
But any news/information that doesnt fit the panic narrative is not exactly welcome here in Australia.
If your friends were able to get in that quick, its good luck to them.
We have heard stories of many people having to country hop, running out of money, while they are trying to arrange a flight and quarantine to syncronise getting back into Australia

There are many Thais that would happily forfeit their place in the "vaccine line" to wanting foreigners. My wife and I were both educated at Stanford University in the USA and want nothing to do with the vaccine. I would get it if forced but my wife, who is Thai ( IQ 200+++) , would rather die than get the jab. The Thai government should set something up so that Thai citizens can transfer their right to vaccination to anyone that wants it regardless of where they come from.
Well ive had a vaccine, it was fine.
There is anything up to 1 in 3 million chance of having complications from a vaccination.
And only had to take that chance ONCE.
However, You take the risk of catching covid EVERY time you walk out your door in Thailand,
and a vaccine will largely prevent any infection from becoming fatal.
(I havent got a 200++++ IQ but even i can work that out)

Hmmm.... The Chinese managed to get vaccines for their citizens in Thailand. The French managed to get vaccines for their citizens in Thailand. The Swiss managed to get vaccines for their citizens in Thailand.
Are Australia and their Embassy officials so inept that they can't manage to do something that several other countries have managed to do for their foreign nationals in Thailand? Or perhaps they're simply not interested in attempting to fix the problem.
Err.. they will not even let their own citizens enter Australia without a long wait..
and as such, are forcing people to country hop wherever they can, like a stateless person
So do you seriously think they are going to do anything at all to help Aussies overseas?

Someone would have to be a particularly pathetic individual to become offended by this...
Maybe pathetic, the scores of Australians who refuse to vaccinate
scared of a bitty needle?
they believe crackpot conspiracy theories?
well, they refuse the jab, but also refuse to get out and protest against their government, so the penal colony will remain just that.
so yes..definately, Pathetic is a fitting word.

Yet another article to try and induce more fear.
If 70% of any certain place is vaccinated, and more are getting infected, then surely they have a good chance of approaching herd immunity?
Im living in a country with no Covid, yet there is endless lockdowns, no freedoms, forced to stay inside
AND ( the worst) not even allowed to leave the country.
<deleted> i would just like to get Covid myself and recover (like the 99%) if it meant i could have some sense of normal life back.
And weird to see foriegners on here promoting fear about Thailand.
If Thailand has the delta strain then its probably the LEAST dangerous and still 99% will recover, right?
Maybe places like India and U.K have got herd immunity already.
At least U.K realises people cant go on living under a rock. life is NOT worth living like that.
If Thailand has a soft opening in October, then good on 'em I say.
Good on em for not just wanting to lay down and die, or be forced by their government to cower under their beds for months/years on end.

How are these people being infected ?????
I have said this before and will repeat it
There must be community covid infections in Phuket - the lack of detail in these reports stinks of a coverup
How many random tests were carried in Phuket since 1st July - I would have thought this a priority to maintain sandbox integrety and safety
we have fully vaccinated tourists mixing with locals and they are picking up infections - why
Would you really trust their ability to ensure ALL Thais that come into contact with the "tourists" are Covid free?
I certainly wouldnt.

Next step, make Thais entering the
U.K buy health insurance from a U.K company.
And while theyre at it, make them take a Covid test every 12 hours thereafter for the duration of quarantine ????
