  1. You can now have a holiday to New Zealand and fly wherever you want from there.

Australia cannot tell N.Z immigration to not allow Aussies on international flights.

Of course, the Aus gov is threatening fines and jail for people but whether they will follow through that is another thing.

For me, as far as returning to Thailand,

the insurance, Covid certificates and quarantine is just to much bother for the reward.

And just imagine if you went through all that, then caught Covid on the way or in Quarantine..

Then Thai guards force you into a private hospital or "Covid field hospital"

    even if you are asymptomatic.

    No thanks!

Your point? I have extended family in Melb, where I was born. My 2 adult sons didn't complain about the lockdown. They have the intelligence to see it was for greater good. BTW both lost their jobs.

Google ...short term pain for long term gain.

Im not sure what the gain is by not letting citizens out of Australia?

Nor can i see how my leaving Australia is any Covid risk to Australia??

Myself (and probably many others on this board) lived long term in Thailand before Covid or rather before Australia demanded we come home to be locked up.

Id gladly sign an Affadavit to say im leaving and not coming back for 12months minimum, if Australian IMMs would let me fly out.

As off today you now have the option of flying to New Zealand as no exemption or quarantine is required. You could then fly onwards to Thailand from there.

Im pretty sure New Zealanders are also not allowed international travel, so there are probably no flights.

And I dont think Australia would allow it to be that easy.

If travel out on N.Z was even doable, i wouldnt be surprised if Australia have some agreement with N.Z immigration to not allow Aussies out on international flights.

Its absolutely wrong and i can't for the life of me fathom why Australians aren't kicking up a huge stink about it.

If you believe the numbers then Thailand apparently had one of the worlds highest numbers of testing per positive case at 10 tests per positive case (or thereabouts).  This means in terms of contact tracing they would test 10 more people for every person they found.

In this case then it would mean they would be testing 150,000 people a day. Clearly they are not testing that amount of people and have never at any stage come anywhere near that number.

They simply are not and have not ever tested at the same rate as other countries. That is fine but they should not tout themselves as being successful in comparison to other countries until they start testing the same number of people.

I dont think they ever claimed that.

From what ive read, if its purely hospital testing, they only do it if a patient ticks all the boxes for Covid.

This would make the infection to test ratio less?

Also id say testing is down by way of the peoples choice.

Who, if Asymptomatic, would risk getting dragged off to field hospital where you are likely to catch a much worse strain?

  5. When you think about it, the jobs of these so-called experts depend on predicting the worst events possible.

You will never hear them saying

dont worry, or "no problem" and downplaying any risk,

since if an outbreak does occur he will look like the absolute incompetent.

By talking worst possible scenarios he is covering himself against every outcome,

and especially if the worst does happen he can say

    "well, i did tell y'all".

This is the problem with the likes of Faucci and the U.K guy.

They predicted doomsday up front, then social media whipped up a frenzy of fear, so much so that society is at risk falling apart because of the OTT prevention

    methods (lockdowns).

Too late to do while you are away...  But, set up two separate accounts and do the transfer between then.

OR, if you want to keep your phone number active, top up to that.

OR, someone on here may help you.

He would have to keep his Thai Sim and phone active anyway, as Kasikorn online transactions require entering a code that is sent by text message to your phone.

As others have stated, he could keep topping up his phone credit via his internet banking page,

and (if with AIS) use the dial up service to transfer credit to a friends phone.

    I must say though,

why your friend even bothered sending back the 50baht has me scratching my head.

Same as why he is even asking advice here if he can just send 10baht amounts to his friend and be done with it.

Had my problems with them as well when using the word Farrang. I told her she better should get used to it if she want to continue to live here. She started shouting and told me I was Pig. I know fully understand why so many Australians want to marry a real Thai woman ????

You only need look at the average (available) Aussie woman to see why Australian guys prefer Thais.

And If the looks dont turn you off, just check out the attitude.

I don't think she's alone in the above.

Yes, but by the sounds of it, she is the first one to be getting charged seriously over it.

What a funny anomaly that it should happen to a female parliamentarian first though.

I guess we can safely assume theres been zero male politicians /fatcats/dinosaurs/

who had the nerve to do such things.. over the past several years.????

It's funny that quite some posters get all excited about who is genuinely still stranded, while Thai immigration seems to be a lot less concerned than our busy bodies here, so long as an applicant signs an affidavit and pays the requisite FEE.

    Umm,

Maybe its those same posters who used to bang on about  "living in Thailand illegally",

in regards to those few folks who were staying long term on B2B tourist visas?

Naturally they are turning on these very bad "stranded" people who are getting an easy visa ride because of Covid,

while they themselves still have to jump through all the marriage and retirement extension hoops.

That would be the same guys who like to tell everyone they should pay 500k for an elite visa, if they are under 50y.o or not married and want to stay in Thailand.

They need every Baht they can get now, I wonder in the far future (when covid has subsided) They will remember, and ease visa restriction for genuine travelers.

I'll wager they will be rolling out the red carpet for any tourists at all, when the country first opens up...

6 months later it will be back to

" you stay Thailand to long" mentality again

No mention of holidays abroad not being allowed then? Makes the Brits actually look quite sensible

    You might think so.

No doubt England has acted on Australias example of how to control the sheeple

and more likely motivated by preventing any stimulus/welfare money leaking out of the country through people travelling.

I had really hoped that Brits might have had a few more baแs,  and kicked back against the international travel ban

    but It seems not????

Intend to leave the country for 3 months or more was my reason in the application

Also I was living in Thailand prior to Covid and shipped all my belongings to Thailand years earlier. I am married to a Thai National who is still in Thailand so we have been separated for  quiet a while now. This reason may have helped my case.

    Ok thanks for the reply.

No doubt, you provided the marriage certificate proof?

Im guessing that proof was the no.1 deciding factor, and the intent not to return within 3 months just cemented it.

So i guess us Aussie guys trapped in Australia who chose not to marry Thai long-term gfs are now suffering for that decision.

Who would have never seen that coming?

Although in my case, im not sure i would of married anyway, just to be there now, even in hindsight.

And my few Aussie contacts left in Thailand seem to give off the vibe that Thailand hasnt been much fun since Covid anyway.

    That's correct.

It took me two attempts to get permission to leave in May.

May i ask the reason for travel by which you applied for?

Im wondering if anyone has actually been granted the permission to leave by way of de-facto and/or long history with living in Thailand with a Thai national?

Under Aus law  defacto holds the same legal repercussions as marriage, after so long living together in Aus.

but i guess that only applies for family law, or if the guy is getting bitten in a property settlement.

    Being Australia, i guess

you would'nt expect any favours if the defacto case was pleaded in this travel situation..

or indeed, in any other way that might benefit the male of the relationship.????

I am an Aussie down here waiting to get back in, love Thailand and can see both sides  just don't let the high risk country's in the poor Thai s' needs us I to would be living there to but for comments here I cant. Morrison  is saying July to open boarder's here but like Thai Pollies it can change. We have started the jab but are behind we are going to get a vaccine passbook, just got to get out of here and Thailand is my choice.

Good luck. Im in pretty much the same position here in N.S.W.

A government worker mate commented that it is much easier to get out of Australia than in (at the moment), and added that Aus immigration were being less strict in granting the permission to leave..of late

Whether or not that means they will allow 'de-facto' relationship situation as adequate reason, i dont know??

I can prove ive lived in Thailand many years, rented the same condo, could get letters from GF, pics together etc.

I guess it doesnt matter to much tho,

as both travel conditions/requirements of Thai Immigration at the moment makes me think better to wait see if things are any easier in July...

Even though even though every day in Australia feels like some horrible groundhog day, after spending so long in Thailand ????

And just how will any country know if a "Covid Certificate" issued in any other country is legitimate of fake, if every country has it's own system?

    Im guessing..

you will have to get the vaccine certificate (from your own country)

then send it along with your visa application, to the consulate, who then certifies it and passes it onto Thai immigration..

then you pay to get some kind of Thai immigration certificate.

Of course, It will just serve to make the whole process that much harder,

and yet another thing they can charge you for..

500 baht for a 2 baht piece of paper

why would somebody waste of money and time reporting such BS.... how can a poll using 1,318 people be reliable/credible

I would normally agree, but sadly (with Thais)

from what ive noticed, their biases and opinions are nearly all the same from all wrungs of society.

Ill bet the remaining 99.9999% of society  would pretty much give all the same results as what this poll reported.

It took me a long time to even fathom it could be that way, but ive been around a fair few of them in 10 years, so it cant just be coincidence.
