  1. In case you don't know already, the bike is sold as Mbike Cruiser for 92,000 Baht in Thailand. You should find a list of dealers or contact data on the SYM website. Please tell us about it if you buy one :)

Thanks for the link. - I've e-mailed them to see if there's a dealer local to me.

Doing some research these bikes seem to receive nothing but praise from their owners - mainly in South America, but also across Europe. There's also some interesting YouTube videos.

  2. Severe rain and quite high winds in Chalong also (at least the northern part) for the last several hours. Forecast is for same same right through until next week. September is traditionally the month with the highest rainfall, and maybe we're paying the price for a relatively dry 'rainy' season so far.

First off, what the hell are you talking about 'relatively dry rainy season'?! It's been raining practically every bloody day this entire year! Started when a friend went home beginning February and hasn't dam_n well stopped, apart from a couple of blisteringly hot days. I know, I walk most everywhere.

Secondly, 'September traditionally wettest month of the year'?! You been reading the TAT propaganda website then? It pisses down throughout October and November, November, 'the start of the High Season, according to lying TAT - they know it's way past school holiday's and well enough time before Christmas - is by far, the wettest dreariest month of the entire year. Just ask another friend of mine who always insisted on visiting in November 'because he liked to go skiing in the New Year'. He doesn't come here at all now and I feel sorry for the poor sods who pay a large chunk of change after trusting TAT and 'guidebooks'.

What a 180 turnaround from last year.

The weather on Phuket is extremely localised. You must live in the wrong part . This has been one of the driest 'wet seasons' I can remember for many, many years.

  3. If a mistake was made it is up to her to get it changed.

If she stays over 30 days she will be fined 500 Baht a day if it is noticed when leaving.

As said knowing her nationality will help.

The officers at the airport haven't the time to check properly. No doubt they'll see her 'permitted to stay' date is still valid and let her pass through. The only issue I could see is if the immigration computer system throws up an 'overstay' warning, but does it have this ability?

  4. The colour print head of my Canon MP145 has lost red, despite being refilled; I guess that's due to a lack of use. Anyone know how to 'kick' it back in to life, or is a replacement the only answer?

When my Epson haven't been used for 2 month I just clean the nozzles with the Window program and that normal do the trick.

No, I've tried cleaning - normal and deep. The red output just consists of random horizontal lines.

  5. They used to check and accept payment too. I think you will find that they have now washed their hands of the whole process.

Hong Kong office is actually very good. There was a slight problem with my application. I received and email from them. I replied and the next day had another email saying everything was sorted.

All in all a very efficient service.

Correct, they have washed their hands of the whole process - with the exception of if your old passport has been damaged or lost.

  6. If someone is interested we have the New Fiesta 1.6 liter in stock as a rental car. I choice it, because it comes for 644'k with 2 air bags, ABS, ipot input, alloy wheels, driver seat high adjustable, intermitted intervall wipers, double clutch automatic transmission und much more. etc. Fiesta has much more options than a vios E for the same price. I guess the technology is the same as Mazda 2. One more thing: Fiesta will not really be a target for theft.

Is the ipot for cooking?

  7. u can try my place Bedrock Guesthouse in ban phe. check it out on a google search or trip advisor reviews

    cheers mark

Some good reviews, but a pity there's no proper photos of the place on Trip Advisor. Might be worth your while correcting that :-)

  8. Several years back my foot slipped off the kick-start of my bike, taking with it a small slither of skin off my ankle. I didn't think much of it until three days later after it had become infected. The pain and sleepless nights I endured for more than two weeks was unbelievable. The moral of the story here is to always make sure even the smallest wound is cleaned and and iodine (or similar) is applied generously straight after the event. Wounds easily become infected here in Thailand. Be warned.

  9. Get a life for God's sake. If it's very important for you go back home and be just happy! Free gifts? Alright, I'll buy you free orange juice and make you very happy person!

The topic was started at 5.33 in the morning by a newbie troll. Don't take the bait :-)

  10. Most Thai white goods come with 2 pin plugs, however there is (in most cases) provision for an earth connection to be made to the outer case - normally a screw with an etched earth symbol. If this isn't done, under fault conditions electrocution is a possibility.

  11. My understanding is that Thai people must be able to produce their ID-card within a reasonable time, (in about 1 hour). There are some treads on this.

For foreigners, this also goes. But there is of cours also the immigration act. That gives the police the authorithy to detain a person who they suspect is a foreigner and is illegally in the country till his status can be determined.

    http://www.thaivisa....Act-EN.pdf.html

Interesting reading, but it hasn't answered my original question - I still haven't seen any document that actually states foreingners carry their passport at all times.

  12. Only the original will do. But in many cases the Thai drivers License will be accepted, as will a copy of your passport.

If they suspect you are an illegal alien, they can detain you till you can proof that you are legally staying in the country.

Do you have a link to an official Thai document that actually states foreigners carry their passports at all times? My understanding is that everyone - Thais included, must carry some form of identification, be it a driving licence, I.D card OR passport.

  13. Thanks mate. I've been to Jungceylon many times but never went into, or behind, the boat. I'll check the place out in the next couple of days. Can you actually see them making the beer there?

At least you can have a look at the equipment, it is quite impressive. The dark stuff is tasty, and I can recommend the Fish&Chips!

That beer looks cloudy to me

  14. It all comes down to the job describtion.

The law states a few jobs you can't do, but dooesn't describe what that function is. You can't be a lawyer, but you can give legal advise.

A few jobs you can't do? Don't you mean 95%. Whatever, to work in a bar means obtaining a work permit under false pretences. Fine if you get away with it B)
