Checkout Wise. No overseas transaction fees. FX rates are also based on the interbank rate, minus a small fee.
HSBC have a global debit card that has no transaction or exchange fees and even gives a rebate on spend

It is exempt due to BOI status so that could remain.
possible, but I think it would then be held up as discrimination by individuals who have paid for more expensive visas.

Visa cards and others taking transaction fees would approve of this message.
you can only minimise your costs not eradicate them completely I suppose but bank transaction fees probably cost you less than a tax bill.
There are banks though that have "global debit cards" so you can hold multiple currencies in your home country account and use a debit card to pay in Thailand in Thai Baht with no transaction fees.

"Could also be that the individual amount of pension received by some folks is under the Thai personl tax threshhold."
---
if lower tax limit is 150K baht a year then to qualify for a retirement visa you would have to bring in more than that on an annual basis.
But it could get even more complicated, say you transfer 800k for the visa application, which is taxed in HK at 15%, will they want to tax it again at the differential rate? Will they be purely looking at "transfer in" values to determine tax liabilities.
What if you transferred in 15m Baht to buy property and those funds were taxed in HK at 15%, will they want to tax you at the differential rate if you are living here over 180 days? Again, Will they be purely looking at "transfer in" values to determine tax liabilities. That could kill the property market.
One of the issues in Thailand is that there is never clarity in the law or its application.

So Thailand joins an Elite Club.
The USA and Eritrea are the only countries that tax folks domestically on income earned overseas...Now Thailand.
Why on Earth should I pay US taxes on money I made in Kuwait or the UAE or Thailand? I pay local taxes.
I've been DECADES outside the USA.
It's just wrong. Aside from a USA passport (which I loathe), why does Ceasar still demand MY money?
It costs a mint to every time I step in the US Embassy, and that's IF I can get an appointment!
there are other countries, China for example

They would be better off starting with a less controversial approach, weigh all luggage, carry-on and checked during the boarding process. Then maybe we can stop the nitwits who bring 3 huge bags onboard, yet have no checked luggage. Because I still can't figure out how they are getting on with massive amounts of oversized baggage.
I know with air Asia it costs more for a 20kg bag sometimes than for an actual flight ticket, I suppose if luggage pricing was more reasonable people wouldn't try to sneak so much stuff on board. There's also people that seem to buy up everything thats for sale in duty free which also adds to the onboard luggage

"The program will begin January 1, 2024 and apply only to tax residents in Thailand meaning tourists and short term workers will be exempt. Also exempt will be those who have been taxed in a foreign country that has a standing Double Tax Agreement with Thailand. "
That seems relevant only to people who are tax residents here. I don't have Thai tax file number and don't submit at all tax returns.
its going to depend how they apply this, Thai Elite Visa is a tourist visa that kets you stay for a year at a time, so you are a tourist but you could also be here over 180 days .....

use an ATM card from your home country rather than transferring funds in that should negate any need to pay tax

About time, ridiculous a 64 kg person only allowed the same luggage as a 128 kg person.
that's probably where this will end up - a combined weight allowance per person including baggage

he caused this dismissal himself by not taking care of the conditions required for a PM job.; i.e. shares in communication cy. The example was in front of him, with the same problem 4yrs back. So he better get rid of this s..t shares and be clean as an angle before the next general election.

This is what the shipper is asking you to pay, plus a small service fee to handle the transaction. This is not extortion but government taxes you pay on imports, particularly if you ship via an express service. If you ship by the post office, then taxes are normally waived below a certain value, but it would take a long time. What value did the person shipping the glasses to you declare for the shipment? Thai Customs will normally charge taxes on this plus on the shipping cost. You can get an itemised list of the charges from the shipper's web site if you look
how do Lazada get away with shipments from China with no duty or vat?

Can't say he's wrong but why tf didn't he sell those shares? It's kinda his own fault knowing Thailand as he should. The exact same thing happened prior, same party.
Only when the smell of 1848 is in the air will things change

A lot of people think that, but there's been no evidence to support it.
it does vary by bank for example, HSBS will let you use a overseas address, Lloyds won't but they will let you use an overseas number.

Knowing what Thailand currently does in the space sector (builds the occasional Cubesat under the direction of Japanese engineers in Japan), there is no way that Thailand has homegrown skills to build a spaceport.
they won't build one, they will just allocate a budget which will get lost along the way ....

they are being pursued for "crimes" (in the eyes of the Chinese Government) committed pre 2020, so they are in fact back dating the law and pursuing whoever they wish for political means - china is becoming an ever more dangerous place

The fact that the company is not currently carrying out any media activities is moot. The only relevant question , is the company still registered as a media company ?
In previous case of the printing business that no longer was operating , the court ruled that it was still a media business . Even though it had ceased to be operating any printing activities. The reasoning , the business had not official notified that it had ceased and thus could in future resurrect its printing activities.
not without the cancelled broadcast contract ...

they have to have the balls to crack down on the locals not following the laws, tourists look at local driving without helmets (often straight passed the police), driving the wrong way on roads etc and just assume it must be ok. Looking around most locals have stopped abiding by the laws, the police don't enforce the rules on locals, and tourists will start doing the same.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I

actually I have just seen that currently the Elite Visa, from the IRS site of tax exemptions "individuals who are exempt from paying tax under a special law such as the Thailand Elite program", they could possibly change that for new applications but not for existing members
