    Ditto.....................

Probably more so the 'as have I' comment.

If the OP hasn't been here long and is already getting homesick, IMO it's time for him/her to go home. Regardless with what people think, and certainly no disrespect to them, not everybody is cut out to be an expat.

I been to thailand at 22years old and worked in nightclubs in patong , i was getting three different women in a day, That was before the impact of social media, before extremist third wave feminism and before thailand got expensive.

Im 32 now , i learned thailands "fun days" are over, Thats it.

Perth is not a bad place to live. It's them versus the Eastern Staters. Cheaper now the mining boom north has retreated.

I think your perspective might change when you are 60 or 70, and no longer able to pull good looking women, of which Perth has quite a few. You may well return to SE Asia.

Women here have mile long checklists and think they are too good for the average joe, even those on there own social economic level they ofter wont even talk to.

I call it the bus stop theory, A regular joe is waiting at a bus stop and sees a beautiful women waiting for the same bus, He trys  to spark a conversation but she gives him the cold shoulder and assumes  he is poor and a loser because he uses public transport.

She is on the same bus and in the same social class at that point in time but refuses him, This is why we will never be equal in the western world, Because situations like this prove women think they are above men.

West definitely has an upside and probably makes more sense for most. But its boring and its hard to connect with folks after youve lived abroad. Good luck.

I've always felt that young westerners were better-off in their home countries during their most productive years.  Thailand isn't a place to go to make money (in most cases), it's where you go to spend money.  Which is why it could be heaven for retirees with a decent pension and/or a healthy nest egg.  You could always come back when you're 50+.

Im a labourer, uber eats driver and  trying to get my foot in the door teaching english online then once the bank balance is sky high i will live of the online teaching and use my savings as a passive income, 20K aud at 500$ a week is 40 weeks in living in South east asia  hopefully i will reach thay in. Three months, Better yet, Find a hot china girl here in Australia to boom boom and never travel again.

yes I also live in Perth after a few years in Thailand and I never regret moving back to Perth

Easy life in australia compared to the madness that could be in Thailand, That place is stressful at times, That place will ruin a western male unless he has  passive income/Bulk saving or a bachelors degree to teach in Bangkok.

I repatriated the clan back to near Perth a few years ago and never regretted it.

Im now working a third job and will be clearing close to the 10K a month mark by the end of this FY.

Nowhere else in the world is that possible without a degree or some training.

Best thing is its easy money, Im barely lifting a finger .

For this reason i love australia

Justifying your choice to us or yourself.

You seem to me to be trying to convince and reassure yourself you made the right decision.

Best of luck, as long as your happy and content.

So you left SE Asia, went "home" and immediately made your life surrounded by and immersed in SE Asian people/community, a home and job there too.

Seems to me you never really left.????

Hahaha, Just came from the vietnamese mom and pop store and had a malaysia white coffee and an indian curry puff for breakfast.....

Yes, I can see your point. And the "good" thing is that Thailand will always be here should things change.

p.s. Expect a lot of abuse from posters on this site. You have expressed a view which is somewhere between verboten and taboo. Be strong, my friend. ????

p.p.s. What did you do with all your "stuff"?

I have a friend who stores my stuff for me in perth (a suitcase), I never had alot in thailand and lived minimalistic.

  9. It feels like doom and gloom when in thailand and thinking bout home.

But niw i simply cannot afford to splurge thailand i have

made my life in the western world livable, I live in china town and frequent  Thai restaurants and convenence stores, Goto language exchanges and  get thai massages regularly.

I am working a very easy job with the shire and every week i can have 700$ to spend after rent/Fuel is payed.

With globalisation here to stay its much more productive, safer, easier to stay at home in the western world, You drink less, gave better access to medical and have access to high salarys .

    I choose the western world.

    Been there done that .

Wasnt really intentional , just went to the same bar to watch football and became friends with "the cashier" , get to know her quite well , became friends and saved her from a life of bar work by supporting her , so that she didnt have to work in a bar .

With the Pound at 55 Baht , we had a great few years , spending like there was no tomorrow .

My income fell by by 30 % , the Pound went to 40 Baht and I had to cut back on spending , she then <deleted> off back to the bar

Dont forget " money number one".

At first when I saw the picture it reminded me of any-street, California, USA. A ubiquitous sight indeed: young able-bodied millennials looking for a hand-out using cheesy scraps of cardboard with hand written pleas for money. Face reality. It's too early for you to retire in Thailand! You have a lifetime of putting your nose to the grind stone like the rest of us did. See you back here in 30 years with a pension. Time to get a job or move back in with mom....

"Big Joke" where are you when we need you!!!! Old guys who paid their dues-in, free loaders-out!

Thats B/S the pension age will rise to 70  in 30 years.

You boomers got rich off us millenials and refuse to hand over 1$
