  2. Not so far, but am transferring a shed load of cash shortly and so expecting an almighty cock-up!

If you go into the branch in the UK and fill out the form there is an option to specify currency.

I am transferring by letter as not in UK so expecting the dimwit in the UK to just randomly transfer some money to some account somewhere and if I'm really lucky it might be mine....

Dimwit? have some faith! Its simple you arrange transfer with your bank IN sterling to your selected account, this account HAS to be identifed correctly BY YOU, name, account, bank, address, IF you get ANY of it wrong your money WILL be returned from the recieving bank with a charge.THAT you will have deserved for wasting their time, you understand? :o

Hmmm. Sounds like somebody who works in a bank. :D

Ah now are you sure maybe its the voice of experience :D

    You bet!

What's the point? Having the odor is half the fun!

What bragging rights are there in an odorless treat?

    No sense of adventure here!

  6. PM asked to overrule Tesco plan

    ANCHALEE KONGRUT

More than 100 people from Suphan Buri's Sam Chuk district rallied at Government House yesterday, urging Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont to revoke a licence for a Tesco Lotus hypermarket and protect a renowned century-old market.

They said the licence was granted to Tesco in March by Sam Chuk municipality. The store is to be located on Highway No. 340 (Suphan Buri-Chai Nat) near Sam Chuk junction, only one kilometre from the Sam Chuk market.

Its called progress every western country has passed through this, now its the time for the others, there will be no stopping it in a democratic country!! :o

  7. well, i am in bkk for a month so i will not be able to attend anyway. if you want something in the next few weeks, why not just start your own post? find a pub, pick a date and write a post? its pretty easy.

if you dont want to do it, it will have to wait until i am back in phuket in the middle of next month.

can i suggest friendship beach as a good venue anyway? right on the beach, good food. cold drinks. good if people have kids. open day or night.

Please give 2-3 weeks notice the venue is good if there are family's. I would be interested to meet all these posters :o

  8. its actually for use on some brass items that have been immersed in salt water for a long time and autosol and a dremel work wonders

Now, what is brass? May be i should take practical equipment repairing course. Padi one is theory only

Maybe you should lean (whoops sorry) to spell first! ask questions last :o

I wish there were not many angry farangs in thailand.

You are correct my friend, Sorry!

  9. I edited out my last reply. I really need to avoid these topics populated by losers who think women are a commodity. If they are in Thailand only for the women, it's often because they don't have the social skills, manners, or common sense to keep a relationship back home. They come here where poverty and language barriers give them an upper hand, but sooner or later their other half learns what his ex companions back home learned. When she wises up and dumps him he stops ranting about western women and starts on about gold digging Thai women, probably not even a clue that it may be he that has the problem.

    I think this should be on the top of list for Thai girls to ask prospective suitors;

Ask him why his past relationships failed. His way of answering will tell you a lot about himself.

    Correct :o !!!!!

  10. Well today we were in Udon for a flying visit and called into Big C for a wander around, one of the things which we were on the look out for was a Karaoke setup (speaker with combined amp) for the wife to plug into as she loves a good old sing song.

Anyway I spied what looked like the idea setup a pair of AJ speaker with in build amp equaliser and 2 mic sockets. So the annoying sales bastard came over to demonstrate them and after twiddling about he finally discovered the switch to turn the in-built tuner on (even though I had stood there prior to this switching it on and off). I said to the wife. . . do you want them? (Now bear in mind they are only 1990 baht) She decides yes and tells the annoying bastard yes I'll have a pair of them please.

So off he toddles we stood there expecting him return with the box, but no he returned with a flyer and says don't you want this 5:1 theatre system? To which I reply no we have already, we want these.... he then points to a 2:1 theatre system and says well what about them!!!! Again he is told no we want them. At this point he starts to tell me wife that they are for outdoor use not indoor!!!!!! Just because they have the black vinyl coating and plastic protection on the corners and they don't sound very good and the 2:1 sounds better!!!!

At this point I say to the wife lets go we aren't having them - so off we walked. With him left standing without a sale.

I thought Homepro had the market cornered in the annoying bastard sales reps but I was wrong! Anyone else suffered this kind of shit shopping Big C??

Big C Phuket..... Asked the assitant, which of these (many) DVDs play everything, a walk along the line and pointed, this play everthing!! NOT the most exoensive about the middle ish" OK bought the player. This thing plays EVERYTHING even my recorded photo disks :o

  11. Should stop raining sometime around the end of November.....maybe that's why it's called the monsoon season

Hmmm....everyday in Phuket is "monsoon" season.

Monsoon refers to wind direction, not rain.

The north-east monsoon from November to April brings dry, fine weather. The south-west monsoon from May to October brings rain.

I have to thank this thread. I was going to stay in katu when i arrive in phuket enf this month, totally forgot that i have to drive my motorbike up and down the hill between katu/patong in rainy days. Seems i should find somewhere in patong then

You should be ok drive with care and watch your mirrors, my experience is that you can see the storm, and yes you can stay in Patong, I like Patong :o

  13. Hi guys!!

Me again :D Just wondering whether it safe to go to Phuket around this month or next month?

    TQ

Ah now safe? best you keep away from Bangla Road after 9 pm, not sure about your safety but you will be interfered with :o

  14. I'm coming this month I hope more raining. I can swim no problem

I love the rainy season, to sit outside (undercover before you post) with a Singa beer. good company, the rain and the noise, unbelivable!!!!!!!!!! :o

  15. Believe it or Not, Phuket to have region's biggest aquarium

    Asia-Pacific News

    Jul 2, 2007, 1:55 GMT

Bangkok - Ripley Entertainment - operator of Believe It or Not Museum - has announced plans to build a 2.1-billion-baht (60- million-dollar) aquarium on Thailand's resort island of Phuket, news reports said Monday.

The aquarium, which will cover 10,000-12,000 square metres when it is completed in three years, will be bigger than Underwater World in Singapore, which currently claims to be the biggest in South-East Asia, The Nation newspaper reported.

    2007 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur

Any idea where on the island it will (possibly) be built ? Hope its near the sea :o

  16. Pattaya is a cattle market. Just visited Pattaya 2 months ago.... what a shock :D

Phuket has much more style, good golf and plenty drinking. And Phuket beaches just blow away Pattaya beaches :D

Don't worry, iv'e been to pattaya for a couple of days! Only three things ive visited in my life left me open mouthed in amazement - scuba diving in the great barrier reef (i drank a lot of salty water!!) the sky line of New York,.. and getting out the bus onto the main street in pattaya. I have no plans to return! Seedy places in resorts are all well and good.. but its nice to escape from them now and again!

    Thanks for the input!

There you go my friend It has to be Phuket :o

  17. My wife and I are coming to Thailand mid September and want to fly Bang-Phuket. Any tips from locals would be most welcome---are there any Thai airline specials operating or any good agents to recommend? Am also looking for superior accommodation but plan to do this through last minute unless anyone can suggest any better alternative. Any help most appreciated :D

Good advice! book all your flights in your home counrty, and plan your holiday around them, this will ensure connections AND you will be sure to be at the correct airport at the correct time ie Bangkok----- :o

  18. Boots. Boots has self tanning creams. THere are 2 in Patong on Bangla and the beach road, 1 in Phuket Town, afew in Junceylon and 1 in central.
