I used to live in BKK for a year or so. But the polluted air was not good for me. So I moved to Phuket where my asthma has completely disappeared.

I also find Phuket good for business opportunities, (ie your own business, not working for someone else). And this is not just with businesses associated with property development.

Phuket has lovely beaches. Some people say that it is too busy with tourists, beach touts etc.

So here is a photo of my local beach at 4pm a month ago. It was a beautiful day. I was walking along a beautiful sandy beach, maybe 5 km in length, so I took a photo. I can't see anyone else here, can you??

Phuket-- Patong beach, yes the tourists line upon line, look along beach road, left and right yes tourists, but drive south along beach road over the bridge of the inlet 1km and up over the hills 4km the beachs there just the sand and the sea-- not so far away I think!

Im getting quoted 528,000 THB plus a years free insurance, and the accessories like the liner, window film, rubber mats and a few others.

This is for the Mega Cab, 2.5 turbo commonrail. Pattanakarn Dealership, and the female sales manager there speaks great English. She is married to a Singaporean.

Whats the general thought about this price?

It sounds good to me, its an excellent price and if the dealership can provide the after sales sevice its a bargain!

I checked www.one2car.com where you can get a real feel for prices (though it is largely in Thai - but that gives you a better sense of non-farlang prices).

Bottom line - price was about the same - and a lot less trouble as I didn't have to spend a day driving it down. And, and guarantee is easier to follow up on here - than with a BKK dealer.

Just my opinion on a recent purchase.

Don't think I would "class 2 beers a day - 200b" as being a problem, a minimal amount of alcohol is good for you.

We always find things to spend money on, seeing as drinking is not a "one time payment p/m" kind of thing, the challange would be extracting the normal drinking money from total funds every month.

We could always open a joint bank account to put all our saved money into, then we can buy a bar!

intersting about saving money. i give up smoking in 1977 (2 packs a day) and stopped drinking in 1982 ( not sure how much i drank but it was a lot) all i know is when i look at the price of smokes and drink after that lenght of time they look expensive and you tend to look at it as a waste of money. the only way you notice the differenc is if you open anouther bank account and put the money you save on drink in their and use it for them special things(car, holiday. watch etc)

Well I gave up smoking in 2000 been a gradual thing over the years from cigs to cigars, the financial benifit I have to say I didn't feel. And the drinking (3 beers a day now) well iv'e tried that, but again I didn't notice the extra money in my pocket. I know maybe I have to much! My point is that if all the savings were held for one year then you would see and feel the cash saved, Anyway I LIKE the feeling of a few beers, and I will be dead soon enough----------

Well ive read, followed and contributed to this post, I think maybe there can be no real answer to all the questions, its just where you are and what you find there. Thats Thailand

Well Pattaya would be number 1 choice - has everything you need and more. However between BKK/Phuket - def Phuket.

Ive spent time in CM and BKK and Ive travelled around most of Thailand, again its all down to what you like, for me Issan is the Thailand the Thai's know , thats why most of the peeple you ask come from there, in BKK. CM and Phuket. I live in Phuket now I feel it has most of what you need, yes it can be expensive but you can go out to the beach or the bar!! try that in Issan... and the beach in BKK yes you have the bars there but god the heat on a still day !

This is the drill, bars are for drinking owning one is to get as many costumers as you can in both cases this involves drinking you want to quit find the replacement.

Now, if women are your objective for fun in LOS then you have the alternative. It is called a massage parlor.

If you are looking for social lubricant then it is called coffee house, if you are looking for company it is called a sports club, if you are looking for something else then you have to find a name for it other that a BAR?

If you purchase a house (with or for your Thai) the best option is to purchase the property in the Thais name and have a legal document drawn up signed by you the thai and witnesses that can be as complicated as you like, and filed with the land office as an addition to the sale and ownership. You can even swap (Her-- Him) You will have to seach in the Falang?english areas Phuket is the best but contact the lawyers there (thats what they do )

Just to update, you will also add a will into the Doc. that when you die its your Thai's (Lock stock and smoking barrel)

Another vote for Faulty towers..

Absolute monster of a thing cooked and nicely char grilled big quality patty.. Nice bread / salad.. Get it with all the trimmings (bacon cheese.. Even a friend egg if your brave) and a side of fries..

Finish that and your a big eater.. Quality also not just enourmous.

The spa wing rooms are really nice and they've got a great pool. Its just off Rat-u-thit road (the 2nd road) and not from central Patong.
