  1. I wonder who made that assumption. A Thai in a prefecture not very well known for being in contact with foreigners is a good recipe for miscommunication. Being a non-Japanese detainee I can see why nobody cared much about that lady's demisee either.
  2. Let's wait for an investigation to determine the root cause of the incident. Safety regulations, standards and procedures is also a good metric to define first world status. If you have solid prevention measures, rescue and evacuation may not even be needed and its expediture obviously goes down. The fact that the building is not public doesn´t mean that the government should not be held accountable if there are some holes in the safety standards that private businesses must observe. I see many reports of accidents involving what it seems ill prepared workers and there have been infamous incidents involving fires at venues to happily give Thailand first world status for displaying some glimpses of modern equipment in the capital's city center.
  3. Clearly not a dealer. Why would Thailand want to host a petty offender in their overcrowded jails? A judge would release him before trial and "forget" to take away his passport so he flees and never comes back if it wasn´t for the overstay. My take is that police will try to get a substantial cut and ship him right after. Everybody has a happy new year this way.
  4. That's why it's best to get wasted by the 7-11 from unopened liquor and mixers while saving money in the process.
  5. That place you call "America" is full of immigrants. Some got the a bit before others, that's all. You´re one of them unless fully native.
  6. That was well before 2023. Rule tightening in Thailand is always relative though. I'm quite convinced it could still be possible for someone to open an account there if persistent enough. You might wanna purchase a condo and need to transfer money from abroad. That's one scenario/excuse. Krungsri and UOB seemed safest bets, but Bangkok Bank could also be possible. I remember they just wanted me to provide a copy of my condo rental and a certificate from my embassy as a registered non-resident in Thailand. I just wanted the easiest one and Krungsri had more ATMs at 7-11 and more branches overall than UOB so I went with the yellow bank. Always cool people working there.
  7. Krungsri let me open an account as a tourist and it came in handy. I´ve been away for a while but I can still log in so I hope they don´t close it down. One can get THB and deposit to shop and stuff. So Im a fan of Krungsri.
  8. I believe they did that on purpose to deter people from taking naps or any extended stay there in groups. That's precisely the materials I'd choose if the goal was to prevent loitering to an extent, even if that only works during the sunny hours. I've seen many Thais taking naps during daytime there and it didn't bother me at all, but who knows if they wanted to get rid of that somehow.
  9. Thailand is quite big. Not just Bangkok. I hope they provide 60+30 days on land border runs too as it would require just 1 for a 180 day/year stay.
  10. They've been arrested in Cameroon and both were identified as Cameroonians according to this source https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/2024/02/17/two-burmese-murder-suspects-will-be-sent-from-cameroon/
  11. Singapore don't allow their residents to even access the casino. Same policy for Thailand and problem solved. Lucrative business for Thailand.
  12. She got the cardio and quads done in advance.
  13. the torso is still missing, so I doubt they can charge him 100%.
  14. Judging by that avatar, your kind have never killed a fly in world history.
  15. If you've got the balance, there's 15mbps unlimited data for 200 baht/month by dialing *777*9026*009897# or 20mbps unlimited data for 300 baht/month by dialing *777*9127*009897# with both options allowing for tethering, meaning one can skip home internet expenses altogether. True have slightly better deals, so you might wanna drop by a 7-11 and get one of their sim cards to check for signal quality etc before making purchases.
  16. I was in the same situation as OP before corona broke out. I was holding a freshly stamped SETV from the Embassy in Hanoi and after 9 months of stay in the Kingdom I ran searches on Thai Visa and decided to fly into CNX. I was quite nervous at the queue for immigration check, but to my surprise everything was really smooth and I was stamped in real quick. Fun fact: I was almost denied boarding that same midnight on my way to BKK as I had celebrated my arrival a bit too much and the staff made me sit next to them on the plane to DMK.
  17. Plenty of 10-20mbps unlimited monthly plans for 200-300 baht on Shopee. If DTAC just run a search of "20mbps dtac unlimited" and search for activation codes looking at pictures of the reviewers. Speed might drop a bit during peak hours occasionally but pretty consistent otherwise. 1mbps at 350 baht sounds like an outright scam to me. Can choose true or ais too.
  18. I've landed BKK and Don muang several times and they never checked my 30kg+ luggage. Just bring whatever you want within reason
  19. Any woman who wouldn't marry you at your lowest can qualify as a bar girl regardless of her dexterity at playing pool.
  20. I opened mine at Krungsri On Nut in 2019 on a visa exemption claiming that I was gonna transfer money to buy a condo. Very useful indeed. Good luck.
