Thanks a lot people. That's right, in Swedish A can represent both ɔ and a. I've studied Thai before, but long time ago, so I've forgotten the rules of tone when writing, ซอก๊ะ seems correct, but what happens if the ๊ is omitted?

We went to the obstetrician opposite of Big C Extra. Ultrasound and pic 800 B.

My daughter's name is Saga in Swedish, which would be something like ซอกะ, but what will the tones be? I would like to write it with [mid][high].

Could someone help me get the tones in สุมาลี correct?

As some have said, it could be a suicide and then regretting it. But he was found with his hands grasping the belt, as if he was trying to get more air.

Compression of the carotids is a method of suicide albeit very unusual. It is apparently less painful than strangulation. (hanging)
Having read the OP I don't see where the police have concluded it was suicide.
My questions to the guy there when the body was found - was there money in the wallet? Were the belongings placed (stored) on the stairs or ransacked and thrown?
Were the burns on the body recent, post mortem or from an earlier incident?
Didn't touch anything else as the body was found. The stuff that was thrown around was four or five packages of prescribed drugs, can't remember them all but one was just regular paracetamol (although easily overdosed but not a particularly fast way to go) and another was a common diuretic. Saw a pair of in-ear phones, but nothing else, no clothes no wallet. The bag was open and still standing.

He was 39 years old, not 56. Google his name and a photo of his passport shows up (at least on Thai language pages on Facebook), and I've also seen the passport first hand. Was on the scene when two other guys found him dead. The passport was by the bag in the stairs.

It's basically facing big c.I have used this doctor for both my children my son 9 years ago and my daughter 2 months ago.
The only doctor I can find around there is BC Life Clinic, which seems to cater for plastic surgery. Is it the same doctor?

Would like to do a standard pregnancy ultrasound in Pattaya, but when asking Bangkok Hospital Pattaya it was more expensive than back home, somewhere around 5000 THB. Can anyone recommend a doctor where we can do it for a better price? It's more of curiosity to see the baby rather than of diagnostic reasons, as we will do that back home.

Thanks, but I was interested in the ThaiVisa modification, so that I can see tones etc.
-
How would you transcribe กวิน using ThaiVisa RTGS? And do you know the meaning and origin of the name? I know that the goalkeeper of the Thai national team used to spell his name this way, but he later modified it with "silent" letters.

I thought it made the e go away or not pronounced.

No, that would be " ์ ".

I would go for สเว็ทลานา, unless you pronounce the E in Svetlana for as long as the A:s. The ็ makes the E short.

Are domestic wines taxed heavily? I understood that *imported* wines had an *import tax* of 600% or so, but assumed that that was to protect the domestic market, hence domestic product wouldn't be taxed (other than probably the 7% VAT.)
As long as they don't mix the wine with fruit juice (hence the marking fruit wine), domestic wines are heavily taxed to.

Upon departing, do they sell Thai wines at the airport? Will go to Khao Yai to see some of the vineyards, but with the ridiculous taxation I wonder if it's possible to buy Thai wine at the airport and at what prices.

Do you mean public ones, most hotel pools are private. The best place for a family is probably Pattaya Park, 100 baht to get in but great pools and sliders.
Yes, pools you can access by paying a small fee.

Do you know of any good swimming pools, that are family friendly, in the Jomtien area? I will have access to a car, so transport are of no issue. Saw a post from 2014 mentioning Villa Thongbura, but being Thailand things can change quickly.

Unlike some other countries, there is no specific provision to obtain nationality based on Thai grandparents.
Well, according to law, three grandparents children are Thai citizens too, but then their children (the child's parent) will have to go through the citizenship process and then the child can. I for example is a born Thai citizen, but we (my parents) didn't report that to the Thai embassy before I was 20, and I didn't register at amphur until 32, when my daughter was already born. With my national ID number I could then register Thai citizenship for my daughter at the Thai embassy.

Can anyone recommend an android app for a 18 months old child. I'm looking for something like a pointbook in Thai, but can't find anything good.

Can anyone recommend a studio photographer for taking baby or family photos in the Pattaya/Jomtien area?

No need really to rent a car, just jump one of the vans down to Hat Chao Mai. The National Park actually has cabins you can rent, the beach there is really nice. 5KMs of white sand, also the park has equipment you can rent, kayaks and such.

Otherwise you have Pak Meng Pier as well as Chao Mai, (I think Pak Meng better if coming direct from Trang town) if you want to pop out to Koh Libong, Koh Muk or Koh Kradan
Looks lovely. Is the pic from Hat Chao Mai?

And about how much should a standard car with chauffeur cost me per day (thinking of around 5-7 days)? I have a Thai drivers licence, but prefer not to drive rented cars in Thailand.

Been trying to find the information on the SCB homepage, but can't seem to find the information about ATM withdrawal fees, and more particularly the inter province fee.
