  1. This should be a simple process I have done before. However, with the TM30 debate going on, do I now need:-

    - Original Passport - copy of page with picture and TM6 card and Visa Extension page.

    - 2 photos 6*4

    - Tabien Baan original - copy of front pages

    - TM 30 ???????

I have lived in the same house for 15 years, but went out the country for a week in August 2018

    Thanks for your help

  2. SeTonal - thanks for the reply. I will go and have a look at that link. I read a lot of links before I posted and many seem to say soemthing different depending on the office they went to. I see this is Jomtien, so it may be more releavant.

UbonJoe - I looked at the codes in my passbook before I posted. A transfer I made from the UK last year is shown as TFN. In the codes at the back of the book there ISN't a TFN code listed ? odd...

xylophone - I am sorry I cannot be of any help. I wish I uderstood these latest requirements. I agree with you though, immigration will simply look at his bank book next year when he is renewing his extension and see there was not 400k Baht all year as required??? I pesronally would not use this proposed method. Then again my current proposed method may fail as well!!!

  3. UbonJoe, thanks again for your reply.

I needed to send some money over now as I am low on funds.

What I did after listening to your advice, was transfer 1700 pounds from HSBC in the UK to Kasikorn over here.

    That is about 68K baht.

I can do that until the extension at the end of August for sure.

Does that sound 'doable'. Does Kasikorn have the correct code to show the money is coming from abroad??

I read somewhere in all the posts on TV, that some banks don't show the money coming from abroad??

Thanks again for your help. I could not survive in Thailand without all the help you and others give me on TV!!!

  4. UbonJoe, thanks very much for the reply.

I agree with you that the extension based on marriage was a better option for me logically.

To be honest, after 15 years of the marriage extension and being asked to jump through more and more hoops each year - I could not stand it any more.

Last year at Jomtien, after they had checked everything as usual, they then told me I needed a witness. I just shook my head, walked out and changed to a retirement extension!

Whatever it costs or whatever I have to do, I don't ever want to sit at the marriage extension desk ever again!!

It seems though that I have misunderstood the rules. In fact if I were to start today transferring 50k baht a month from abroad (say) then that would be 600000 baht per year.

I would then need 200k baht in the bank.

    is that correct?

I would not need to show any pension paperwork at all, just bank statements showing money coming into Thailand from abroad?

I renew my extension in Jomtien at the end of August, so I would have 5 deposits if I started today.

What do you think about that idea???

    Thanks again for your help.

Edit: In fact if I just transferred 65k a month form the UK then that would solve the problem I guess. I thought I could not do this as I would need paperwork to prove where the money came from ie a pension letter(s)

  5. marcusarelus - thanks for the quick reply. I don't get the pensions until July and then I have to renew my visa extension at the end of August. I don't fancy going to immigration and asking them anything. I hate going in there at all. I am hoping I can get the advice from TV and avoid asking immigration anything.

I would rather use an agent than go to immigration for advice.

  6. I am confused - help!

Last year I gave up my extension based on marriage and switched to an extension based on retirement. I did this based on 800k in the bank. Simple.

This year I receive 3 pensions.

    1. Company pension 5000 pounds

    2. Company pension 1000 pounds

    3, State pension 8000 pounds

So a total of around 14000 pounds. If I multiply that by the FX rate today then that is around 40 baht * 560000

    baht.

My thinking is that with this and 240000 baht in the bank I have achieved the 800k baht I need.

Is that how the system works???

    1. Does this mean I dont have to have the cash in the bank for 2 months before and 3 months after and a minimum of 400k baht and the other parts of these new rules??

    2. Can I just go to Jomtiem immigration with a letter(s) from my pension providers in English confirming these amounts.

I know all this is documented here in TV and I am not usually the lazy type who does not bother reading the posts. However, in this case I have lost the will to live reading through all this stuff and really would appreciate some simple advice.

    Many thanks for your help

  7. I noticed whilst walking the dog that many of my Thai neighbours are not going to work today.

I have just checked up and It is Makha Bucha today and I was going to Jomtien immigration

to do my 90 day report.

Is it still open today? The 90 days were up on 17th February (Sunday), so I guess I could

go on Friday 22nd February when I am next in Pattaya, as I believe it is OK to go up to 7 days after

    the expiry date.

Thanks very much for your help.

  8. Apologies for not replying to the replies.

I was out of the country for a few days and just did not not want to think about any of this until I got back.

To Tanoshi I would say that you really have no idea of the effort and hassle there is involved in going to immigration EVERY year with all the paperwork to be told there is something else they want you to do. I don't usually moan about immigration, but the hoop jumping gets quite tiring and degrading year after year. In my case I have had this for 14 years.

Anyway, my wife and I have decided we can't face it any more so will switch to a retirement extension.

I can do this for the first time this year as I now get all my pensions so I have a documented  income over the required amount to do the extension.

Until now my income was savings interest and dividends that was too much hassle to prove.

Thanks again for all the replies and I wish all of you having to do the extension based on marriage every year all the best with your future immigration visits.

  9. Berybert, See Will, Tanoshi thanks very much for the replies.

Berybert - the IO said she wanted a picture outside my house

in front of the number and the Thai person to be in the picture and give their ID number. That was it.

Tanoshi - that is what she wants it seems. So it could be the security guard then I guess?? No mention of Tabien Bahn of witness though.

See Will - I don't think that the IO wants this. She wants a picture outside our house showing the number - nowhere else?

I have just read some other threads on this - what a mess it seems to be.

I think I will ask my wife to go down to immigration and get them to explain in detail what they want.

    Thanks again for your help.

(I could probably switch to retirement extension - maybe I should - it will mean some extra paperwork and cost, but this is just so much hassle now).

  10. Thanks very much for the reply Ubonjoe.

She said she wanted a picture with me and my wife and the

witness in it in front of the house.

She said the witness had to provide their ID number.

    That is all.

I speak Thai and normally would have asked a few more questions, but I was just so fed up to be honest - I just shook my head and walked out before I said something I regretted.

I am usually so laid back with all this, but today I was just not in the mood for it.

I figured I would ask on Thai Visa as you normally have the answers to all this visa minefield.

I am pretty sure when I read about this witness thing a year or so ago - it was quite involved and did not just involve a picture and a Thai ID number.

I will try and find some threads on it now I have cheered up a bit...

    Thanks again

  11. I would appreciate some help. I have not searched TV as I

normally do as I am having a rubbish day - so if you

could help solve my problem I would appreciate it.

I went down to Jomtien today to renew my annual visa

    extension based on marriage.

I have done this for 14 years now. So I am used to hassle.

I have not been asked before to provide a witness, but there

is a new top officer in charge of desk 6 it seems and she

is very keen to get it all correct.

So I have been sent away to get a photo of me and my wife and

a witness. I have read about this being a requirement for some

    years now.

I have not understood exactly what is required.

    1. I don't know any Thai neighbours.

    2. I do know the security guys though and one of them lives

in the neighbouring village. So we are Park Hill 4 and I think

he lives in Park Hill 3.

    3. So could I use the security guy?

    4. This picture she wants and the witness information, do I

just take a picture of the 3 of us outside the house and then

stick that on a piece of A4 and he writes his ID number on -

    job done?

I expect it is more involved than that.

    Thanks for your help

  12. I am just back from there as well. Well I went down at 8.30

and there was no Queue then either. That was the good news.

I think the lady on desk 6 - the top officer there - is new. I was sent away to get photos of me and my wife with a neighbour as a witness.

I have been renewing an extension based on marriage for 14

years and although this rule has been around for a while, this

is the first time it has been enforced on us.

I don't know any neighbours, so I am about to ask a question

about this on TV who this has to be.

Good luck when you go back.

  13. A friend of mine is coming to stay for 4 months and asked me the best type of visa to get.

He then said he will will be going to the Philippines for 2 or 3 weeks whilst he is here.

I suppose depending on the timing, he could do 30 day visa exempt then extend for 30

days and then when he gets back from the Philippines do another visa exempt and

entend extend again for 30 days.

I think an METV would be easier?

I am way out of date on the latest visas and would appreciate some advice please.

    Thanks for your help

  14. I am sure this has been asked before, but a search returned so many threads that were not relevant I am asking it again - so thanks for your patience!

I do my 90 day report at Jomtien. My blue slip says I have to report this week as my 90 days are up. I left the country and returned on April 25th, so I do not need to go again now until just before July 25th. If I do wait until July will I have to prove my address again etc... ? If so is it easier/can I just report this week and use the current blue 90 day slip and keep the current 90 day cycle I currently have?

    Thanks for you help.

  15. 20 hours ago, Kerryd said:

Luckily in Jomtien, once you are in the system all you need is your passport (with the "Receipt of Notification" paper they give you telling you when your next report date is). Hand over the passport, they scan the barcode on the "Receipt", click on the computer, print a new "Receipt" with the next report date and you're done ! Takes about a minute if there are no issues.

Used to be a lot more complicated. Forms, copies of bills, passport photos. Now, even if you have a new TM.6 (from a trip out of the country) and your report date is changed, it still only takes them barely a minute to process !

KerryD, My next report date is next month. However I came back from a trip abroad on 25th March. So it sounds like I just turn up 90 days after the 25th March with my passport with the blue notification form and TM6 inside even though the report date on the notification form is wrong - no need to fill in a TM 47 form - very simple. Wow - can it possibly be this easy a process ? :)

    Thanks for your help
