  1. I would also love to meet up with some ladies. Weekends are just me and the boyf, and while i love him to death nothing beats a girls night out... well i guess i could name a few things that beat it but i best not go into it..... :o

  2. I just recieved an email from friends in Australia that appears to be a forward that is making its way around the WWW. It's a picture of young blonde girl who is said to be in Phuket hospital and unaware of who she is?

I am just wondering if this is still true? I remember her being on the front page of the Bangkok Post some time ago and I hoped that she would have been identified and returned home. I don't have the pic to post, but she is a young girl with cuts and abrasions to her face.

Does anybody have recent information? (sorry it might be a bit vague on the details...)

  3. I am a primary school teacher at an international school in Bangkok and my students are currently learning songs and music from around the world.

I was wondering if anybody knows of any musicians (we are looking at African music this term) who would be interested in performing to a group of Thai/Farang students....

  4. I had no idea that corporal punishment was illegal, it certainly didn't seem that way in the school I worked in last year. The kids were most scared of one young Thai female teacher who had bound 5 metal rulers at one end and would slap their hands if they got their spellings wrong (no wonder they hated learning English!) It made it difficult for the farang teachers to manage the classes as the students would only react to physical abuse.

  5. Does anyone know of any schools (international/thai/private) in chiang mai who need teachers at the end of october start of november?

ive looked at lots of websites, but sometimes its all about who you know....

    cheers

  6. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for tours in Kanchanaburi?

My parents will be in town and they usually prefer no fuss kinda deals, but jam packed so they don't miss anything. My dad is Aussie and a train nut so he will need to do all the war memorials and train rides on offer.... mum will just follow!

I came across the tours run by the River Kwai Resotel and Jungle Rafts, they have a great internet site, but that doesn't always sell me.... has anyone done a tour with these people before?

  7. can't really help you with an alternative to BBC and star movies through the week, but on the weekends you could try the pubs/bars/cafes around silom. get off the BTS at Sala Daeng and have a wonder around.... Soi Thania and Convent have some ok venues

  8. i've been to a couple of thai weddings and both times we gave money and not a gift. I was also told that the main reason why weddings were so big (400 guests is not uncommon) is because everybody gives money..... not sure how true that is, but I'm pretty sure the custom is to give money.....

  9. I often find myself getting slightly PO when there are double prices. On a recent trip to safari world i was expected to pay 800baht as well as an additional 200baht for a "jungle cruise" attraction. My thai boyf only needed to pay 390 baht all inclusive. But i just showed them my staff ID card to prove that i work in Thailand and i got in at the Thai rate. The same thing has happened at numerous national parks, everytime ive been exempt from the fee when i show my ID card.

having said that i wasn't so lucky at the pata department store zoo (i try not to admit that i actually wanted to go there), but the ID card didn't work for me there so we just walked away, the 400% mark up they wanted was ridiculous....

  10. its just one takes care of their partner a whole lot better than the other.

"takes care" or does absolutely bloody everything for you?? :o (nothing wrong with that tho!)

My boyf doesn't seem to agree with anyone here. We've been together for about 12 months and he's sure he'll never go back to thai women!

as for aussie girl, i have to agree with wombat... you can't be serious....

  11. I've been teaching in BKK for about 4 months and went to Singapore a couple of weekends ago. Of course i had no idea about the re-entry visa so i am now back on a tourist visa and need a new Non b visa. I was thinking about making a little tourist trip out of it and i want to know if it's ok to go to Phenom Pehn to visit the thai embassy to issue my visa.... just don't want to make the trip if there is a chance that it wont be sucessfull!

    Has anyone got any advice?

I'm Australian if it makes any difference or anyone cares!
