Happens everywhere.
Everywhere in Thailand?
Never been offered an 11 year old in the UK that's for sure!
From the BBC today.
A girl has told the Old Bailey how she was seduced and turned into a sex slave by an older man at the age of 11.
The witness, now 19, was giving evidence at the trial of nine men accused of grooming children and exploiting them for sex in Oxford.
She said she was raped by Mohammed Karrar in 2005 when she was 11. She had gone to a flat "to chill" and said she was given drink and drugs, then raped.
The men deny 51 charges including rape and trafficking from 2004 to 2012.
In court the witness, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she fell in love with Mr Karrar and thought they were in a relationship.
'No choice'
"At the time I thought it was my choice and it was fine, but years on I can see I never had a choice," she said.
"He told me he loved me. He said he would take me to Saudi Arabia when I was 15 and marry me.
"I believed him at the time."
She said she was also introduced to other men and told to perform sex acts on them.
The witness is one of six alleged victims in the case and, like one of the others, she claimed she was forced to have an illegal abortion in a back-room in Reading.
The trial is expected to last until April. The defendants are all in custody.
The defendants are:
- Kamar Jamil, 27, formerly of Aldrich Road, Oxford
- Akhtar Dogar, 32, of Tawney Street, Oxford; and his brother Anjum Dogar, 30, of Tawney Street, Oxford
- Assad Hussain, 32, of Ashurst Way, Oxford
- Mohammed Karrar, 38, of Kames Close, Oxford; and his brother Bassam Karrar, 33, of Hundred Acres Close, Oxford
- Mohammed Hussain, 24, of Horspath Road, Oxford
- Zeeshan Ahmed, 27, of Palmer Road, Oxford
- Bilal Ahmed, 26, of Suffolk Road, Maidenhead
Tha Tha bashers forget there is a large world outside and despicable acts are perpetrated everywhere.
- Kamar Jamil, 27, formerly of Aldrich Road, Oxford

How about getting rid of the stupid 90 day reporting whilst they are at it...?
Simply because it provides occupations for the grossly numerous population of government employees. ... and needless to say, revenue.
90 Day reporting costs nothing so how does it provide revenue?

Romantic film, two girls in love.. It's all very touching.
Yes, it is all a bit touchy, touchy, feely, feely. Getting in touch with one's sensitive side.

There is a bus service to North Pattaya bus station, last one 7pm. Another bus to Jomtien, last one is 10pm. However, if you don't know where to book at the airport you may find it full before you get there.
Alternatively there is a bus to Ekamai bus station where there is a bus to Pattaya at 11.30pm.

Some immigration officers in Jomtien advise people who have recently married to stay on a retirement extension as 1: it is easier to renew, and 2: it saves having to change a marriage extension to a retirement after a divorce.
To add to other points mentioned here about money being in the bank two or three months before renewal, this doesn't apply if you are using proof of monthly income.

Can he read English, because to claim he is reading Thai at 3 is as unbelievable as the claim that he eats spicy food. Few thais feed three year olds "phet phet" (sic) at that age.
I agree, I have never seen anyone give very spicy food to a toddler of that age

I know two couples with Pitbulls. One is owned by a Thai couple, the other by an English couple. The Thai owned dog is lovely. He speaks to it in English, takes it for walks on a short leash regularly. I can walk up to their gate and put my hand through to pet it, and do so every day. It is a really nice animal and is testament to the way the owners have raised it.
The other one, owned by the English couple, is the most visious dog I have ever met. There is no way I will approach it.
I like dogs, have never been bitten by a dog, and usually get on with them.
For those mentioning Staffordshire Bull Terriers, they are recognised as excellent family pets and are good with children. My daughter has three. She acquired the first when a friend asked her to look after it whilst the owber went on holiday - eight years ago! A new boyfriend came along who also owned one, then a litter of pups and one didn't sell so they kept it.

Yes, forced to work illegally since they can't get a wp, and there are many of them out there.Arkady, it seems to me that you missundertood what I was saying, first of all as I wrote in other posts, I don't have only one degree but two, I don't have any economical problems neither, now I have all the requirements to apply for both PR and Citizenship, but I do know many people, europeans, asians, africans and asians who are married to Thais and are foreced to work illegaly here( teaching, english, chinese or working in restaurants, bars etc without wp) because for one reason or another they don't have the resourses to get a degree, the age or others.I think that as in most of countries people married or that have children should be allow to work freely in order to provide for their families, the same should apply for those with PR.
People that come to retire/ work/ invest here are a completly different thing, they don't need to come here, they come here just because they want, but people who have family not. For example in japan, spain, costa rica, panama, us, mexico, r. dominicana, singapore, italy and many other countries people that are married to a national can engage in any kind of payed activity, why? because of humanitarians reasons, and I don't really understant how so many people in this forum can't see that, just to give an example in the case of war, must of investors, retirees etc will be the first in leaving this country, but I just can't, cuz my familly and the familly of my wife to whish I am profoundly indebted( that I see as my own too) live here and they r not going to desert their country, that's my point of view, I still dont have the Thai citizenship but I consider thailand so dear and so beloved as my own motherland and hopefully in the near future I will get my citizenship too, that's all what I meant when I wrote my post.
"Forced" to work illegally?
That is what is termed a cognitive distortion. They choose to work illegally, they are not forced to.
On your other note. I used to work in the UK with a Malaysian national. She married an English man. Her Malaysian nationality was revoked by Malaysia because she married a foreigner. When they both retired they wanted to move to Penang under the "Malasia, My second home" program but were prevented from doing so. They retired to Thailand and travel to Penang whenever they want.

Funny. I went to Friendship yesterday and indeed saw a total of 5 guys drinking beer outside.
It turned out to be my worst visit to Friendship ever though. There was limited power in the shop and, to top it off, the security guard at the entrance had apparently received new orders and was forcing people to check in their bags at the bag deposit counter. Nothing better when you go to a supermarket than to have a security guy shout at you "Hey you!!! Bag!! Here!!!!"
There was a power cut yesterday, blacked out South Pattaya Road, including most shops and Centre Condo, traffic lights etc. That is possibly why the there was limited power (using a generator?) and the security staff were trying to reduce pilering duriung a period of low light levels.

For all the Thai bashers out there, I knew someone in the UK who killed his father. He wanted to report it to the police immediately but his mother stopped him, said they were better off without him, so they cut his body in half and put the two pieces into two oil drums and hid them in the cellar. Later when they moved house they took the drums with them. They buried them in the garden of the new house. Many years later, after the mother died the police came knocking, asked for the father. He told the police that he was buried in the garden. The police sneered at him and walked away. After he was caught during an armed bank robbery he told the police again. This time they believed him.
What I am getting at is that these things happen everywhere, not just here.

Would a couple of Russians steal something only worth 300 Bt? I was in a small family owned and run Thai restaurant where two Russians were eating and drinking. They disputed their measly bill as it included two more beers than they said they had drunk. Only four empty bottles on the table and they were charged for 6. To try and save 80 Bt they had hidden two empty bottles behind a plant pot.

I have to wonder how they found out. It's such a closely guarded secret what goes on there. Wow, Pattaya police are good!
...and no mention of the fourth floor where pirated music, games and software are sold.
That is scheduled for a few months time. They did it about 4-5 months ago. All back to normal now.

I have just read the Blackpool Gazette story. Apparently he is 41 years old, left his home 20 years ago to develop a web development business, but it is also reported that he is a Chemical Engineer.
I just wonder what the truth is. If we saw the landlord's side of things posters here might not be so quick to judge.

"He has to wait for a visa to be approved, allowing him to leave Thailand.
But that itself is not without drama, as it will cost him £800 in fines for overstaying a visa he never had."
Minor detail, but Thailand in a nutshell :-D
The maximum for overstay is 20,000 Bt. Whilst he is on a stop list preventing him leaving Thailand the Immigration Dept stamp his passport every 90 days, so he shouldn't have an overstay.
No one needs a visa to allow them to leave Thailand and enter his own country.

From what I heard the tourist was shot by accident. The shooter was apparently fighting with another Thai and the tourist got shot by mistake.
Sad if thats true mate, but i think this is what probably happened, R.I.P fellow brit.
Whilst I have been reading this I am listening to BBC Radio. It has been reported by the BBC that he was shot by accident. A case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was not murder, though with the same consequences. My condolences to the family.

Can't seem to get this picture out of my head - a guy sitting down to a big plate of baloney and suddenly his meal is taken out by bloody big fire ball............
It took me three attempts to click the Like button, I was laughing so much.

Well, it was obviously spontaneous and maybe a third party can't be ruled out.
Who actually plans to hang themselves with their shoe laces?
This is exactly why the UK police confiscate a person's shoelaces before locking them up on a holding cell.

When asked how did she know she had been raped ,she replied"the cheque bounced"
That reminds me of a case in the Uk. Someone who paid for sex with a cheque for 1,000 GB Poinds. The cheque bounced. She reported it and he was convicted.

Please correct me if I am wrong but I believed that before taking a child out of the country the other parent has to give permission., even if they are divorced. Thsi has to be done formally, not just word of mouth.
