  6. Yep now the offer from Thaksins buddies will likely come in

to buy enough shares to make them legal again.

Likely at firesale rates of course.

Powerplay in the works for sure.

    So you nasty Norwegians,

here's an offer you can't refuse.

Makes me think back to Monson,

Thaksin partnered with him to install technology,

but it came time to take profits and

he had Monson thrown in jail...

What a nonsense.. Is there any post where you do not mention Thaksin? Wonder what this man has done to you.

    It's raining.... blame Thaksin!

Anyway do you know the democrates (your friends) are still in power? And that under their government this whole DTAC thing is initiated?

it ain't raining here ,,, bloody Thaksin again :whistling:

  7. My 72 year old German neighbor is very proper and law-abiding and driving back to Trat when a lone cop waved him over. In obedience, without a second thought, he jerked the wheel to the left and bashed into the cop's motorbike. It knocked it over and it tumbled down the embankment and disappeared.

This very proper and law-abiding man then felt it was best to put the petal to the metal and haul butt. He was still shaking when he got home two hours later. Got very drunk that night and did not drive anywhere for two months.

    :cheesy::cheesy: ,, l like that one

  8. without plastic bags there would not be as much litter (or pollution when they burn them) ,, Thailand just wouldn't look the same without plastic rubbish everywhere ,,,,,,,

its criminal what they do to such a delightful drink ,, :whistling:

  9. Wow, I got a flight with Jetstar from BKK- MEL in May for 5,500 BHT including 20 kg baggage. Slightly bigger seats than air asia. Food more expensive but I filled up at the stores in BKK. Big plus was that it was direct from BKK to MEL vs Air Asia which stopped in KL. I would have thought that you could get a much better price than 23,100Bt - this must be a return ticket right? Otherwise you should even look at Malaysian Airlines.

    Hi tfc ,,,

yeah its a return flight ,, l thought the price was OK and its direct ,,, which is worth a few bucks l think , ,,, ,, l flew BK to Bris in April with AirAsia ,, that was 16,000Bt return ,, l should have searched a bit more ,,,, but still cheap enuff

l travelled with Malaysian Airlines a few years ago ,,, they left me stranded at Brisbane airport for over 12 hours and caused me to miss connecting flights ,that ended up costing me nearly as much as the return flight ,,, and their letter for compensation wasn't worth a pinch of shit ,,,, l vowed l would never fly with them again ,,,BUT ,,, never say never

    thanks for that

  10. , "If I get there?" you really are a bit green around the gills aren't you?. Jetstar is the low price off shoot of QANTAS.As such yes ,an excellent air line, flying very modern aircraft My family have flown with them quite often. No problems. They do take special care of passengers who do not speak much English and have never flown before. I have known them to escort passengers from the International Departures door , through Customs ,Immigration, and onto the plane .and the same procedure on arrival in Oz. No wucking furries ,mate ,you will do well, and surprise ,surprise ,you will arrive safe and sound

Hi afarang,,,, :D ,, yeah l am a bit green with the LCC,s ,, l flew with AirAsia in April (first LCC), it was OK except for the 5 hour layover in KL ,, and hassles with bags ,, l am just checking on other peoples experiences or opinions about jetstar ,,, l wont be really surprised if l arrive safe and sound  ,,,,,

to tw25rw ,,, no problems mate ,, l do have ducks disease ,, my arse is a bit close to the ground ,,, and Berek ,, l have paid top price and had the same problem ,,,,,,,,, as for food and drink ,,, l wont die from the lack of it ,, as long as Hungry Jacks is there when l arrive ;)

thanks guys for all your opinions its appreciated

  12. Just to add to my OP and answer a few posts, i'm not trolling. I actually met her on a site like facebook, I've not joined any dating sites and don't intend to.

Im not stupid enough to go blindly and marry her at first sight. I just wanted to know why she wanted to rush into things. After i posted the OP i spoke with her this evening stating i dont want to rush things and dont want to even think about marriage until we have spent alot of time together getting to know each other.

Her reaction was slighty upset but said whatever i think is best as she didnt mean to pressure me.

come over and meet the girl Trent ,,, you are under no obligation ,,,if things go well , fine ,,, if not , go up country and have a good holiday over here , who knows what might happen , nothing ventured nothing gained

    good luck

  13. The information in the above post seems to be the lynchpin in regards to people just wanting to volunteer their time to help out at Thai schools. The schools are unwilling to put forth the effort to get you the required paperwork, due to unfamiliarity in the process but most likely due to just plain laziness.

It's also true MANY MANY schools all over this country employ and pay foreign teachers without providing them the documentation to hold work permits. If/when push comes to shove it's the foreign employee who're raked over the coals, rarely if ever the school. ..

It's sad really. There're a LOT of qualified people who would gladly volunteer a few hours a week of their time to help out Thai students. They can't because they're in the catch 22 of working without a work permit.

Good luck, let us know what the school says when you ask them for the documentation to apply for a work permit. I'll bet dollars to donuts they'll say, "We're not gonna pay you, so you don't need one!" That is totally erroneous info; volunteers DO require a work permit to do volunteer "work" <-note the last word there is work, hence the need for a work permit.

As a totally OFF TOPIC aside; given the overly broad interpretation of what constitutes 'work' in Thailand, what types of work are prohibited trades and foreigners can't work in them, as well as NOT being in possession of a work permit; I'm sometimes reticent to even use the "bum-squirter" in my house after using the toilet. :P

Agree with you its sad they dont take advantage of the free resources available, I also think there is another selfish reason too. The English teachers dont want to lose face in fron t of students, being shown up as not as competent as a native English speaker in the classroom,so, rather than endure that the students dont progress as they could. A rare view of Thai forward thinking, only because its in self interest though.

Nong , l think you have hit the nail on the head ,,, having been in a classroom with a Thai english teacher ,, it left a lot to be desired ,,,,,,and as for me having a degree , l have 2 only ,, 1 from the school of life and the other from the school of hard knocks ,, l might have been a bit misleading when l said "overseeing",,,, l guess its just checking on pronunciation ,,,ie ,, making sure they get "G'day mate" and "how ya goin cobber" correct ;) and can draw a kangaroo or koala ,,,,,, thanks for the advice ,, its not worth the trouble, that is what any school boss would probably think ,,,unfortunately

    cheers

  14. When I said 'the computer,' I should have been more specific (the Personal Computer). Sorry, I thought it would go without saying. And the PC is most definately an American invention (or maybe Apple might want some of the credit)...

    Nope!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micral

"According to the Computer History Museum, the Micral N was the earliest commercial, non-kit personal computer based on a microprocessor, the Intel 8008. André Truong Trong Thi (EFREI degree, Paris), a French immigrant from Vietnam and François Gernelle developed the Micral N computer for the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA), starting in June 1972."

Jeeeezzzzz Phoenix ,,, your haveing a bad run here ,,,, but keep trying ,,, thats what made America great ,, l'm with you mate ,,, ;)
