  1. Hi there not DIY, but done by an installer: Huawei SUM2000-5KTL-M1 5.0Kw, 3 Phase inverter and totally 14 Jinko PV panels 470W, no battery as yet, cost was slightly below 200 KTHB all in. Running with 0 export most of the time. It is still slightly hazy but we are getting close to 5 kW at the moment. I would have to agree that 3 x 1-phase inverters might have been better due to 1 phase dropping out frequently. At the time of decision I did not think about this possibility but I guess it would have made the setup more expensive and complicated.
  2. As far as Mabprachan goes: At least 2 rentals at the south gate and plenty more around the Pong stadium on the lake. Both areas have plenty of parking.
  3. Have done a colonoscopy at BPH not so long ago. Cost was about 37'000. Pathology took about 3 days.
  4. I rather think not, as it is also blocked during the day. There is (was ?) a sign on the Chayapornwithi side saying the gate would remain closed from 18:30 to 06:00. They can not close that entrance totally as there are people living there. Yes, the upper gate was blocked again yesterday, we did not try today.
  5. Never mind. The gate was open again this morning.
  6. Anyone know why the Siam Country club road side gate to the lake has been blocked off ? First the nice parking area up there was built but now the bicycling/walking track seems quite deserted.
  7. Totally agree. Papers in order, the last 3 years I was in and out within 20 minutes. When once a copy of one page of my passport was missing, he went and made the copy himself.
  8. We met when she was 28 and I was 50. In the meantime, we have been married for more than 20 years. The difference in age was never and issue. And I do not know how I would have managed to get through the four worst years of my life (cancer) without her unwavering support, care and love.
  9. Our water comes from Naam pra pha on the darkside (I think from the water works on Chayaporn Withi) and since about two years we are using a set of Stiebel filters before the pump. We have replaced a pressure vessel on one of the earlier Mitsubishi pumps, did not last long very long. For completeness sake: The pump that we are using now (coming up to 2 years) is a Grundfos Scala 2, which is inverter controlled and does not have a pressure vessel. But I am just sharing our own experiences and not trying to influence anybody.
  10. Concur. We have already thrown away 2 of those Thailand built pumps due to corroded pressure vessels. The Grundfos pump that we have now is working very well. We have 2x2000l tanks, that we switch regularly. When the mains is turned off without us noticing, we always have one full tank.
  11. I used to be weary of those due to disastrous results with the very first generation of garden lights, but now we have a couple of those in operation since some months with surprisingly good results. They come on at dusk and I have seen them still on at 5 in the morning at reduced intensity. Search for "Eve LED Solar Cell Flood Dawn 100W Daylight" at Lazada, there are also others with lower power.
  12. I think you are somewhat mixing up history here. The Minsk agreements were made in 2014 (Minsk Protocol) and 2015 (Minsk II) and had nothing at all to do with a possible eastward extension of NATO (or inclusion of Ukraine). It was all about stopping the fighting in the contested territories of Eastern Ukraine. (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minsk_agreements) What you might have been thinking about are the Budapest accords (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum_on_Security_Assurances) which were made in 1993, which were made when Ukraine (and others) gave up their nuclear weapons - to Russia, by the way. Some claim that during that time reassurances were given to Russia that NATO would not attempt extension towards the East. It would not have made sense anyway - those countries that Putin is now so upset about promises having been broken were still members of the Eastern Block in those days. The Iron Curtain ran east of the German border. It is worthwhile to remember that all those countries you mentioned applied to be members of NATO of their own free will. Nobody forced them. And you forgot Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia and Croatia. As far as membership of Ukraine is concerned, I remember there was some discussion on that subject at one of the Munich Security Conferences (do not remember the year), which was strongly opposed by then German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
  13. Well, obviously the site is down. Maybe it was overloaded - who knows. Give it some time and try again tomorrow or on Monday, which is what I will do ????
  14. Concur. I have been doing it +only+ since 10 years - the only change has been the requirement to show the bankbook again after 3 months.
  15. seems to differ from office to office. I did my 90 days in Jomtien last month and got the full 90 days with the reminder that my extension was going to run out on Oct 12. Today I did my retirement extension but nothing was done to the 90 days reporting date. BTW I was in and out within 10 minutes. Passport to be picked up tomorrow. Still have to show the bankbook again after 3 months.....
  16. Vaccinated at Medpark. There is a desk with some friendly ladies that did all the necessary for me.
  17. I really do not know. They made very clear in their confirmation that the booking is not transferable to another person. But I might inquire about the booster possibility when the time comes. I have spent a lot of money that hospital.
  18. At least for 2 thirds of our small family, that is for MiL and myself I am quite confident as we both have appointments for the second shot of Pfizer (free) at the beginning of September. 49 years old wife refuses AZ and the Chinese stuff (and I, of course do not have any arguments against that), so we will have to hope that the Moderna thing will work out in October. Me having paid for my Moderna reservation does not really bother me, I just consider that as the payment for the free-of-charge Pfizer jabs. Of course all this is a bit of wild west, you takes your chances where you can get them. We have applied in many places and were lucky that at least for the older ones in our family it worked out in the end. Funnily enough, after I had the appointment for the Pfizer jab at Medpark, I got an SMS from BPH for a Pfizer appointment at Central festival .... I am glad I took the Medpark appointment, they are very professional and well organized. About the notion of a Hausarzt (family doctor) - well - such an institution does not exist here, does it ? After 25 years of expat existence I have almost forgotten what it meant to go back to the same doctor who knew you and took care of your small (and big) wehwechen. Here only a good insurance and knowledge of the right doctors in the right hospitals helps (most of the time). Ciao
  19. From whatever I could gather, the Pfizer that is/was available here is being used for people over 60 or those with the various ailments and it was free. Mother in law got her Pfizer at the stadium by being there at 7 in the morning for an afternoon shot, it seems there were 300 shots available. She is getting her second shot next week. For those healthy under 60 Thais its only AZ or the chinese juice. My wife managed to register and pay for Moderna at a hospital in Bangkok, but of course we have no news as to when the first lot is going to arrive. I also paid for Moderna at Bumrungrad but managed a first shot of Pfizer at Medpark with the second due in September. In the meantime I have received offers from BHP for Pfizer (free), Medpark and Bumrungrad for Moderna which would obviously be for the lot supposed to be arriving in 2022.
  20. We have two dogs and been going for years to the vet on Siam Country Club Road at the big intersection in between the Mini Tesco Lotus and the Holland Tulip Cafe and Bakery (N 12 55 56.70 E 100 56 21.26). Very happy for the small and basic things you mentioned. They will also do small operations and they have a bigger shop further down on Siam Country Club Road.
  21. I paid for Moderna at Bumrungrad, but got my first Pfizer shot at Medpark 2 days ago next one is on Sep 9. The confirmation mail by Bumrungrad states very clearly: The hospital does not allow the transfer of the vaccine to other persons.
