Thank, jvs. I would prefer to do it this way if possible certainly, as it seems so 'easy' and convenient. Having said that.....I'm of an age that for big amounts especially, I would probably feel more reassured if it's double-checked at a counter etc, plus with paperwork. I confess that though aware that people do the atm way all the time, I've never actually done it myself!

May sound ridiculous, but just hoping for a nice quick answer to the following query: Someone is due to transfer money to me, locally (in Thailand) from their bank account in one particular Thai bank (can't recall the name) to my bank account in another bank (Bangkok Bank, fwiw). This person intends to go to their bank in person to do this. My query is.....if that person has my account number, of my account in that other bank, do a) I have to be there in person too? And b) will one bank transfer money from an account at their bank, straight into another person's account in another bank, nice and simply, at the counter? Sure many will think I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, for asking about this! That's ok, cos actually it's true, I'm not. ???? PS: if people suggest doung this online in some way - if it's possible - please go slow & explain it to me as if I'm a 5 year old. Thanks

Thai Beers - which one is your favorite ?
Toolong replied to Baron Samedi's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I think you & I would have quite an enjoyable chat over some decent beers. Well, interesting for me, maybe! ???? (And FWIW, I personally go with Asahi in cans these days. You get a fine brew & they're still 330ml, unlike stuff from the local big monopoly shysters who surreptitiously cut it to 320ml a few years ago. 'We saw what ya did!') -
Seen koratchef ads on facebook. Looks good. Was guessing someone may recommend it, and indeed you have, Farma. I shall find directions to it and give it a try. Thanks, I appreciate it. ????????

Thanks, grs90. I've passed that Makro quite a few times. I will stop and give it a gander. Nookie's delight looks very interesting. I will definitely give that a closer look. Looks darned popular that's for sure. ???? Thanks for taking the trouble to send me this info', grs90....I really appreciate it. Cheers, man. ????????

I have to go to Korat immigration and while I'm up there (I live in Pakchong and so quite a distance to travel) I would like to try and make it a more worthwhile trip, involving finding food items that I can't get here in Pakchong. Specifically western type foods (I'm British....yeah, I know about British 'cuisine' and its reputation! ???? Anyway, doesn't have be British...) I know in Bangkok, the 'Villa' supermarkets are (or at least were) generally the 'go to' places for such stuff. How about Korat? ???? PS....btw, for what it's worth, I found Central supermarket (or is it 'Tops'?) in The Mall a bit disappointing. Suggestions & ideas would be appreciated.

Marriage extension
Toolong replied to BangkokAlan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I do mine in Korat and a certificate called a Kor Ror 2 is required from the local (any) amphur office. This certificate kind of verifies your status as still married. Mine has to be no older than the day before applying. Apparently, any amphur office can do it by accessing the records on a national database of some kind. No charge for it. Take your marriage certificate with you. Maybe CW don't need it? Maybe good to check. ???? -
Air-con in DMax not cooling - AGAIN!
Toolong replied to Toolong's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Interesting comment, pgrahmm. Dye test, vacuum pull down & sniffer test in the dash area. I think ToyotaVigoThailand mentioned these too, so I'll be looking out to see if they include those. Thanks a lot. (Lexus, eh? Wouldn't mind one of those.????) -
Air-con in DMax not cooling - AGAIN!
Toolong replied to Toolong's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I'll go into the local town tomorrow and ask at 5 different shops connected with the motor trade - but not air-con repair. If I get 2 or more of the more experienced-looking guys tell the name of one shop in particular......that's my starting point! ???? Thanks for your comments. ???? -
Air-con in DMax not cooling - AGAIN!
Toolong replied to Toolong's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I don't know for sure that they didn't do what you described, but I don't think they did. Good to know this. Will be very useful to have this info when I go to the shop! Thanks a lot!???????? -

Air-con in DMax not cooling - AGAIN!
Toolong replied to Toolong's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
To be honest, Kwasaki, I became a bit disillusioned with Isuzu re the air-con. Engine-wise, yes, know their stuff, but their air-con team (Pakchong btw) not so expert. I could indeed try the local Cockpit or Bquik. Basically.....I need to find 'The Go-to Guy'! The fella who really knows his business! There's always one! ???????? -
Got an old DMax Hi-Lander. Bought it new about 12 years ago. For first 6 years or so, the air-con (ac) was fine. Then started to repeatedly have trouble. Local Isuzu dealer pumped more gas into the system and checked this & that, including replacing some kind of (costly) component on the fan belt system. Seemed fixed (ie, cooler) but again & again it never really stayed cool and I've spent multiple 1000's of baht over the years having it seen to, including a new compressor and god knows what. Isuzu never sorted it out satisfactorily (including forgetting to put the filter back in the unit beneath the passenger seat!) and after the warrenty expired it was various small businesses locally. Without long-term, permanently- fixed success. Getting to the point of this: now once again failing to properly blow cool air. I know it's the hot season but that's just coincidence and that's not the issue. Something is wrong again and I'm at the end of my bl***y tether over this! I will seek out a new place locally tomorrow.....but I wondered if anyone out there might be able to offer advice about what it might be.....and what I should specifically expect them to check. Also kind of hoping someone may have experienced the same (baffling) situation and point me more precisely in the right direction. Sorry this is a rambling mess, I know, but any help would be appreciated.

Thai wife must accompany me?
Toolong replied to Toolong's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The answer, Kimamey, appears to be that after the 'under consideration' period for a yearly marriage 'visa' extension, the foreign spouse can go to the Imm office to get their passport stamped without the Thai partner needing to be present. ???????? -

Sorry! My bad! ???? I should have said 'take my pp to get the stamp'. Ubonjoe is correct. During the 'under consideration' period, you keep your passport. Sorry. ???? -

Ahhh, well that's exactly the reassurance I needed, 9a9a, as you too use the Korat office. Splendid! Much obliged to you. Thanks. ???????????? -

Toolong replied to Toolong's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I know what you mean, but actually no one actually 'picks up' their PP ????. Assuming your extension has been approved (after imm officers in an office in KhonKaen have spent over a month examining your documents day & night, doing double shifts, 24/7!) you're just handing over your PP to get the extension stamp. But like I said, I know what you mean ????. Others, including myself, have described it in the same way! By the way, if you're familiar with Korat Imm office, have you noticed it seems to be less 'unbelievably crowded & chaotic' in the area outside? I applied in mid- March this year, and compared to March the previous year, it seemed relatively quiet. Is this cos of a new online appointment booking system, or something? ???? -

Interesting. I can only wonder if, perhaps, cases like those you describe may (he says optimistically!) actually contribute to things being more 'sorted out' up at that office & elsewhere. As you say, they do rotate staff and it's possible policies & attitudes change for the better (while conceding that they could in theory get worse!). Possible? Who knows, eh? ???????? 'Oh, the rich pageant of it all!' Thanks, KhaoYai. ????
